As Muslims, we do not see one another through the artificial borders drawn by colonial powers. We see each other as one Ummah. Lebanese, Yemeni, Indonesian, Nigerian, Pakistani, Iranian, Iraqi, Palestinian... it makes no difference. Our dignity is shared. Our pain is shared. Our struggles are shared. So when someone claims to be "telling the truth" about geopolitics while simultaneously insulting entire nations and cultures, they expose not wisdom, but ignorance. Calling Beirut one of the most beautiful cities in the world and then following it with, "you see... it's not Yemen," is not analysis. It is racism disguised as commentary. It reveals a worldview that measures human worth according to wealth, appearance, or Western standards of acceptability. Yemen is not a punchline. Yemen is a nation that has endured years of bombardment, siege, starvation, and western/zionist terrorism. A nation whose people have demonstrated extraordinary courage, resilience, dignity, and faith under circumstances that would break most societies. Speaking the truth about the role of the United States in funding, arming, and enabling Israel's destruction of entire nations does not require degrading another people in the process. In fact, if your argument depends on belittling others, you've already lost it. This growing trend of mocking entire nations because they look different, live differently, or are "poorer", as per YOUR standards, is not sophistication. It is discrimination. It is arrogance. And it is ugly. The irony is that those looking down on Yemen, Lebanon, or any other nation often come from societies built on colonial conquest, the theft of indigenous lands, endless wars, and global exploitation. If you want to compliment Beirut, then say: "This is Beirut." Not: "At least it's not Yemen." And while you're at it, maybe compare Beirut to Arkansas instead. Because if we're making absurd comparisons, that's the one that actually fits.This version is more likely to resonate beyond your immediate audience because it attacks the prejudice rather than just the person, while still making the Tucker Carlson point very clear. So Tucker, spare us the nonsense. The next time you feel tempted to compare Lebanon and Yemen as if either exists merely as a prop for your commentary, do some homework first. Ask your writers to educate themselves and maybe join them. Reading a script from a teleprompter is easy. Understanding what you're talking about is apparently the difficult part. The world is full of countries with thousands of years of history. It would be refreshing if your analysis reflected at least a few minutes of research.
