Statement to the Public On 26 August, the General Command of the Women's Protection Units (YPJ) held a meeting with an official delegation from the Ministry of Interior of the transitional government in Damascus. During the meeting, issues of security and stability in Syria, as well as the future of cooperation and coordination between the two sides, were discussed extensively. The future of the Women's Protection Units (YPJ) was the main focus of the meeting. It was emphasized that the YPJ could be integrated, as a distinct and organized force, into the structure of the Ministry of Interior. The meeting was held in a positive and constructive atmosphere. In order to complete and finalize the integration process within the framework of the 29 January 2026 Agreement, our meetings and discussions will continue. Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said Ankara would welcome the dissolution of the YPG if it is actually implemented on the ground, rather than remaining an announcement. Germany has formally ended its military advisory mission in the Kurdistan Region A formal ceremony was held at Camp Stephan near Erbil International Airport, attended by senior Kurdistan Region officials, Peshmerga commanders, coalition representatives and German military officials. • German forces have supported the Peshmerga since 2015, providing military training, weapons, medical assistance, logistical support and military advice as part of the international campaign against ISIS. President Nechirvan Barzani met with Mohammed Ali al-Lami, head of Iraq’s Federal Commission of Integrity, on Wednesday to discuss strengthening cooperation between Baghdad and the Kurdistan Region in the fight against corruption. The meeting, also attended by Erbil’s Integrity Commission chief Ahmed Anwar, focused on coordination between federal and regional authorities. Barzani reaffirmed the Kurdistan Region’s readiness to cooperate with Iraq’s Integrity Commission and judicial authorities to uphold the law, protect institutional independence and preserve the authority of the judiciary. The Amargi reports: PJAK spokesperson Rivar Abdanan said the PKK’s dissolution has “no direct connection to PJAK,” rejecting claims that PJAK is a PKK branch as “false narratives.” “PJAK is an independent Kurdish political party operating in Eastern Kurdistan and Iran.” Abdanan added: “In terms of worldview and the philosophy of struggle, PJAK believes in the ideas and roadmap of Leader Apo.” On Iran, he said PJAK would welcome “a process of democratic and political resolution” if Tehran showed genuine willingness for fundamental change, but added that “no sign of such a change has so far emerged in Iran.” @KurdishFrontReports
