Crying in Salah | Shaykh Aba al Khayl in his lesson on Al-Rawdh Al-Murbi’
To cry due to other than the fear of Allaah invalidates the Salah.
However, if it overcomes the person and he can’t control it, then it doesn’t harm him. Because it is out of his control.
An example Shaykh mentions: if someone has buried a relative, and he stands to pray. Even if he’s never cried in Salah due to fear of Allaah, but he cries now for his cousin, and because he is unable to to suppress the crying —> according to Shaykh Mansour, the prayer is valid because the crying overcame him.
But in Al-Iqna’, shaykh Musa is stricter. He says the only crying that doesn’t invalidate the Salah is crying out of fear of Allaah. Any other reason invalidates the Salah, whether it overcomes him or not.
This is the wording found in Zaad al Mustaqni’ — it doesn’t mention whether it overcame him or not.

Shaykh Ahmad Al-Quaymi حفظه الله mentions in his Hashiyah: doing any of the actions mentioned above, out of necessity, does not invalidate the Salah.

“I have never seen among the faults of people a fault like the falling short of those who are capable of excellence.”
One of the most disappointing things to see is a person who has great potential but does not live up to it. Oftentimes, this is a result of not having high ambitions. In order to reach our maximum potential, we need to aim high and desire to be great.
Why is it that when we see people who excel and reach greatness, we simply admire them from afar? Why don’t we think to ourselves: Why not me? Every person who has achieved greatness is a human being just like you. No doubt, certain people may be more naturally gifted than others, but ultimately, if a person works hard, trusts in Allah, and remains consistent without giving up, he can reach a very high level and surpass most.
And this is the advice of our Prophet ﷺ:
احرص على ما ينفعك، واستعن بالله، ولا تعجز
“Be eager for that which benefits you, seek Allah’s aid, and do not give up.”
The Prophet ﷺ also said:
إذا سألت الله، فاسأله الفردوس
“If you ask Allah, then ask Him for al-Firdaws.”
The Prophet ﷺ is teaching us not to be people who are satisfied with mediocrity. We should strive for greatness, and even if we don’t fully achieve it, at least we will have come close and can say that we tried. But if we don’t even attempt to reach our potential, then know that one of the greatest faults is:
نقص القادرين على التمام
“The falling short of those who are capable of excellence.”

Imam Ahmad was asked: ‘Will a man be rewarded for hating the one who opposes the Hadith of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?’
He replied: ‘Yes, by Allah.’”

Q: What is the ruling of the Pillar in salah?
A: A pillar is not dropped/ left due to forgetfulness, or ignorance (but a wajib/ requirement is)
Ie. A pillar missed completely = that unit of prayer is to be repeated.

Imam al-Shafi‘i رحمه الله said:
