India plans stricter VPN regulations to prevent bypassing blocks
The Indian Government is working on an expansive legal framework requiring VPN providers to establish offices in India and hire compliance officers for addressing grievances raised by the government
Penalties and jail terms are also being vonsidered for local employees in case of non-compliance.
In the last few months, we have been observing that users are able to bypass content, accounts and online services that have been blocked by the government on various grounds by using VPN services. The 2022 Cert-In directives that required VPN providers to store some usage data have not managed to rein in these companies as they have simply refused to comply. This is mtklogo, a tool to unpack and repack your logo images. One can use this to modify their logo partition to have a different boot logo (and more).
Key features of this fork include:
- A codebase that is updated to the latest rust language standards.
- Memory unsafe bugs have been fixed.
- All code warnings fixed.
- Supports both legacy and modern logo partitions.
- An issue that exists on practically all logo modifying programs which breaks image rendering is fixed here.
- Supports both legacy and extended (modern) headers.
- Generates a bit-perfect replica of the stock logo image if a simple unpack and repack is done with zero changes.
- Performance improvements here and there.

India's Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has asked WhatsApp to halt the rollout of its username feature as it could be used for online fraud, phishing, and impersonation without disclosing phone numbers. WhatsApp has been given 3 days to respond.
After WhatsApp, MeitY has now issued notices to Telegram and Signal, asking them to explain the safeguards used by the platforms to prevent fraud, impersonation, and other forms of misuse linked to usernames. Telegram has also been asked to explain why it should be allowed to continue offering the username feature.
Meanwhile, someone has already removed the username feature somewhere.

A video has been leaked in BetaWiki's Discord server, which was recorded sometime in 2024, suggesting that Microsoft has explored a dedicated AI OS.
Project Aion uses Win3 and the Edge browser, and the UI is centered on Copilot. There is a Copilot-based start menu, and an input box where you can search files, launch apps and browse the web.
The taskbar has a "Spaces" feature which groups open apps together. Aion is built around the web and does not run native Windows apps. There's probably also a version of Aion running on top of Windows 11, which supports native Windows apps.

I'd like to show you what I've been working on for the past 8 hours. This is a cert exploit that our device (among many others) is vulnerable to. With this exploit, we can practically modify the LK (Little Kernel) also known as the bootloader to enable/disable features with the usage of fenrir.
I have modified the bootloader string from MBM -> NIG (yes I did that intentionally, it's funny). Moreover I have disabled image authentication verification which verifies all the firmware partitions and I disabled the most annoying feature of all: Preflash validation check. With these modifications, I was able to have a custom bootloader version string, I was able to boot a custom boot logo, I was able to flash partitions in bootloader and the best part of all, I WAS ABLE TO BOOT OSS DTBO!
This is just a teaser, more info (possibly a writeup as well) to come soon™️ :)

"The UI difference you've noticed is intentional. The card-based Settings UI was designed specifically for newer devices like the Phone (4a) to leverage their advanced hardware capabilities and provide a more modern user experience".
The Nothing Phone 2 has Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 which is more powerful than the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 that powers the Nothing Phone 4a. Still, the Phone 4a will get a better card design UI simply due to
advanced hardware capabilities and provide a more modern user experience.
Even Xiaomi users aren't scammed this much with the HyperOS.
