A presentation by the US government showing a map of Africa which mislabeled every single country caused a stir among attendees at a global conference in Brazil.
Many took screenshots and posted the map from the State Department's presentation on the new health agreements at the AIDS 2026 conference in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on July 26.
The map contained an artificial intelligence watermark that signalled it was made with OpenAI tools, Reuters reported.
The State Department took "full responsibility for the confusion and misrepresentation"

Supporters sang in endorsement of the five pro-Palestine activists known as the “Ulm 5” at a court in Stuttgart on July 29. The activists were on trial for taking direct action against Israeli arms manufacturer Elbit Systems in September 2025 and face up to five years in prison. Prosecutors have charged them under Section 129 of the German Criminal Code, describing Palestine Action Germany as a criminal organisation. The defendants have been held in pre-trial detention since September.

A muslim-owned repair shop in Nepal's Sunsari district was allegedly set on fire by Hindutva mobs on July 29. Chants of "Jai Shri Ram" (Victory to Lord Rama) can be heard in the video. Several other Muslim-owned businesses were also looted and vandalised.

Israeli strikes killed at least three Palestinians in separate attacks in Gaza City and Khan Younis on July 30, according to medical sources. Two Palestinians were killed by an Israeli air strike on a tent in Khan Younis in southern Gaza, while seven Palestinians were injured in a bombing on a residential building in the al Shati refugee camp, west of Gaza City. Several shops and nearby buildings were damaged by another Israeli strike on a commercial building near the Al-Ahli Arab Hospital in eastern Gaza City.
Since October 2023, Israel's military offensive has killed more than 73,300 Palestinians and injured over 174,000, according to Palestinian health authorities.
