02 A 7-month-old Palestinian baby named Fayiz Abu Ataya — who was born in the early days of Israel’s brutal war on Palestine’s Gaza — has died of malnutrition, a direct result of Israel’s closure of the Rafah crossing and its role in cutting the besieged enclave off from food and medical aid.
The baby’s body was brought to Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah on May 30.
Israel has killed at least 36,224 Palestinians — 71 percent of them being women, children and infants — and wounded 81,777 others in its 237-day war on Gaza, Palestinian officials say, while more than 10,000 people are feared buried under the debris of bombed homes.
