My name is PAROS TIT, I am currently pursuing a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in International Law at NUM School of Public Policy. 🎓 My experience at NUM has been truly valuable. The programme has given me a deeper understanding of international law, including its norms, doctrines, principles, and the role of state practice in shaping relations between countries. Throughout my studies, I have learned how treaties are negotiated, interpreted, and terminated, how territorial sovereignty is established and protected, and how land boundary agreements define the limits between neighbouring states. I have also studied maritime law and maritime boundaries, including how the law of the sea governs the rights and responsibilities of states over their waters, and how peaceful means such as negotiation, conciliation, and international courts help resolve disputes. What I appreciate most is that the programme does not stop at theory. It shows how international legal principles are applied in real situations, particularly in the relations between neighbouring countries. This has strengthened my ability to analyse complex international issues with a more informed, objective, and legally grounded perspective. One of the most important lessons I have learned is that understanding international affairs requires more than following political developments. It is equally important to study the legal foundations, historical context, relevant treaties, and the actual practice of states. Together, these elements give a far more complete picture of international relations, especially when discussing sensitive matters such as borders and maritime affairs. For anyone interested in international law, diplomacy, international relations, geopolitics, or public policy, I sincerely recommend the LL.M. programme at NUM. For me, it is not only about earning a degree.
