A group of traders often travelled through a definite route when going on their business trips. At a particular time of the year, robbers would always take advantage of the lonely road to terrorise the traders. A voice usually came from the bush, instructing the traders to drop their wares. Out of fear, the traders would quickly drop their goods and run for their dear lives.
This continued for a period of time, until one day when one of the traders decided that "enough was enough". He went into the bush to confront the robbers. Lo, and behold, the person behind that voice was a cripple. He had been using the weapon of fear to steal from the traders.
Fear is just false evidence that appears to be real. The devil uses fear to torment some children who do not know who they are and what they have in Christ. God has given us power to tread upon serpents and scorpions. The Bible says that the devil moves "like" a roaring lion, which means he is not the real lion.
From today, just like David, you will not "Forget Everything (God's Promises) And Run" because of those "False Evidences Appearing Real" but you will "Face Everything And Rise". Pray today that God gives you the spirit of power and a sound mind to confront all your fears with God's unfailing promises.

📖 MEMORY VERSE: "Arise, go unto Nineveh, that great city, and preach unto it the preaching that I bid thee" (JONAH 3:2).
Prophet Jonah resisted God's divine assignment for him in the city of Nineveh. He also attempted to flee from the presence of God, but God is everywhere.
Sometimes, a person seeking to hide his sins, leaves one part of the city for another, or may even travel abroad. Some change denominations without changing from their sinful ways. In some cases, the guilt of their sin drives them into more troubles. You cannot cover your sins from God's searchlight.
Jonah realized his sin after his failed attempt to flee from God when he found himself in the belly of a fish. Fortunately, it dawned on him to pray for repentance. Dr. Henry Kissinger said, "Opportunities cannot be hoarded, once past, they are usually irretrievable". Hence, many die in such conditions without a second chance.
Peter had a second chance after denying Jesus. Judas Iscariot died and is now in hell. It is very bad to resist God. Whatever may have happened along your journey to heaven, there is opportunity today to plead for forgiveness from God. Then share your experience to help others to avoid rebellion.

🔑📖 KEY VERSE: "If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well" (JAMES 2:8).
A personality identified only as "Dr. Mitchell" once sought to impress upon believers that they were not under the Law when they are in Christ, but we're under a new law - the law of LOVE. He used this to illustrate: "In America there is a law stating a woman must take care of her child. So, a man comes to a new mother's home. He says, 'Are you taking care of your baby? The Law says you have to.' The woman, tenderly holding her baby, said, 'I don't need a law to make me take care of my baby.' Why? Because she loves her baby! She feeds him, holds him, changes him because she loves him. I no longer need the Law because I'm under Christ - a law of LOVE."
In the passage today is a law. James referred to the command, "Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself" as the "royal law," because it came from the King of kings and governs all relationships in the kingdom of God. This law, rooted in Leviticus 19:18 and affirmed by Jesus in Matthew 22:39, serves as a guiding principle for Christian conduct, including not showing favouritism, living as those who will be judged under the law of liberty and showing mercy to people.
Showing favouritism for instance is a serious transgression of God's law because it damages the integrity of our witness, just as a single crack compromises a windowpane. Furthermore, the law of liberty frees us not to live as we please, but as we ought to, using liberty to serve others in love. Finally, showing mercy demonstrates the grace we've received from Christ.
Today, the evidence of loving our neighbours as ourselves can be demonstrated by actively seeking their good, showing kindness, mercy, and treating them with dignity. This, ultimately, will reflect the true freedom we profess in Christ.

All the twelve spies sent to search out the land of Canaan were all Israelites. Although they had things in common, Joshua and Caleb choose to be different. They believed God's promises when the other ten spies chose to doubt God's promises.
Both John the beloved and Judas Iscariot were Jesus' disciples. They both spent years with Jesus, but they made different choices and ended up differently. John made a godly decision, while Judas went the way of sin and betrayed his Master. Even though they had things in common, yet they made different choices.
Choose to be different. Live to obey and please God, no matter what others do. Do things because it is what God wants and commands, and not because many people are doing it. Be sure you are born again, and remain a friend of Jesus.
Desire a pure heart, and pray to have the experience. Reject distractions that can hinder you in your academics and spiritual life. God is ready to help you, if you will choose to be different - to live to please Him, and succeed.

📖 MEMORY VERSE: "For he was a good man, and full of the Holy Ghost and of faith: and much people was added unto the Lord" (ACTS 11:24).
Barnabas means, "The son of consolation." He lived according to his name. When persecution scattered believers out of Jerusalem, they went preaching everywhere. New churches were established in faraway countries. They needed mentors to strengthen the brethren, and Barnabas was sent to Antioch by the elders in Jerusalem.
He was sociable without corruption. He was full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom. He taught the converts to be steadfast in faith. He also mentored Saul (Paul), then a new convert, and brought him from Tarsus to Antioch. They grew spiritually and multiplied in membership because of Barnabas. Isn't that marvelous?
Every member of the Church is expected to be like Barnabas - "a good man". Timothy was also a 'good youth'; hence, he was well reported of by the brethren that were at Lystra and Iconium (Acts 16:2-3).
Just imagine, believers in two cities recommended young Timothy to be a companion of an apostle despite the ethnic difference of his father - a Greek. He developed under Apostle Paul to become the Bishop of the Church in Ephesus. You can be another Barnabas.

🔑📖 KEY VERSE: "But when the people of the land shall come before the LORD in the solemn feasts, he that entereth in by the way of the north gate to worship shall go out by the way of the south gate; and he that entereth by the way of the south gate shall go forth by the way of the north gate: he shall not return by the way of the gate whereby he came in, but shall go forth over against it" (EZEKIEL 46:9).
Deeply immersed in meditation during a church service, Italian poet Dante Alighieri failed to kneel at the appropriate moment. His enemies hurried to the bishop and demanded that Dante be punished for his sacrilege. Dante defended himself by saying, "If those who accuse me had had their eyes and minds on God, as I had, they too would have failed to notice events around them, and they most certainly would not have noticed what I was doing."
Failing to kneel when required during worship in some assemblies is an infringement taken seriously. The passage for today's devotion also contained some liturgical order that the congregants at Israel's temple were required to observe.
Several striking instructions stand out in the order and reverence in the temple worship. No one was to leave the temple through the same entrance they came in during the solemn feasts. The prince was to be in the midst of the worshippers as they came in and exit the temple. Worshippers were also commanded to adhere strictly to the offering requirements every morning and evening, and during the Sabbath days.
Approaching God in worship should not be done irreverently and frivolously. Church should not be used as a venue for social and economic activities. Reverence for God should require that we listen attentively to His words, meditate and apply the lessons to our lives. There is punishment and severe consequences should we turn the sanctuary of God into a centre for immoral practices. Neither should we wear strange apparels into His temple.
The prevailing wild and indecorous so-called praise worship in many assemblies today is completely dysfunctional and injurious to the Holy Spirit who is gentle, meek and mild. Even so, a prolonged worship session at the expense of breaking the bread of life can drain the soul of the vital elixir for life and godliness. True worship and praise of God must be conducted in absolute holiness, decency, and orderliness presented as a sweet-smelling savour for it to command blessings from on High.

It is great to receive miracles when your parents, pastors and teachers pray for you, exercising their faith in God. Don't forget that miracles happen when you too exercise your faith in God.
Jesus told the woman who got healed after touching His cloth that it was her faith in God that healed her. Faith in God and His words activates and deploys God's power to do miracles and great things in our lives. God's power healed her, but it was her faith that drew the power.
Faith in God enables us to receive healing, provision, answers to our prayers, and many more. Most importantly, forgiveness of sin and new life in Christ comes through repentance and faith in the saving grace of God. Now, you can ask for forgiveness of your sin, and also ask Jesus Christ to be your Saviour and Lord.
Build your confidence on God's word. Daily read and think on God's word to increase your faith. Remember to exercise your faith. Put it to work, and pray when there is any challenge in your life or someone else's, and you will experience God's intervention.

📖 MEMORY VERSE: "He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil" (1 JOHN 3:8).
Sin is defined as, "the transgression of the law." Law includes the common rules in school and society that prevent harm to our neighbours. God gave law as a manual to mankind for navigating the often tough world.
It is meant to keep peace, purity, progress and prepare us for eternity with God. The careless association with the ungodly questions from the serpent, the mouthpiece of Satan, led to the fall and the loss of the Garden of Eden by Adam and Eve.
Satan is the originator of sin. Hence, "He that committeth sin is of the devil." Jesus came to this world to reconcile us to God with His blood atonement. Unfortunately, many youths continue in sin, which endangers their spiritual stability.
They become weak and helplessly in bondage to Satan who is herding them to hell fire. Those who are linked to anti-gospel social media propagation bring themselves under curses and rebukes meant for Satan.
Be wise and return to the Lord Jesus to escape the eternal consequences designed for Satan.

British writer Jack Higgins, the author of the successful novel The Eagle Has Landed, was quoted to have said that when you get to the top, you'll realize there's nothing there. He's not alone in this conclusion. It's the old song of sports and pop stars, especially the notably successful ones. Tennis star Boris Becker got to the very top of the tennis world, yet he became bankrupt despite winning 13 Masters titles, three year-end championships, and an Olympic gold medal in men's doubles in 1992. He led Germany to two Davis Cup titles in 1988 and 1989 and is said to be the youngest-ever winner of the men's singles Wimbledon title, a feat he accomplished aged 17 in 1985. Be careful, says Becker, because "you're not always going to be on top."
Higgins and Becker are using the lens of man's inadequacy to measure life performances. However, in Christ Jesus, all limitations are removed. The believer's achievements are not tied to earthly glory but eternity with God. Whosoever fears God and keeps His commandments will discover treasures in glory that overshadow all the vanities of life. When men focus on earthly achievements, they forget the ultimate goal of existence: fear God and do His will. Life is meaningful when lived in the fear of God. It is useless when lived in furtherance of selfish pursuits.
The stories of great evangelists and pastors of old show us that a life lived for God's glory speaks of no vanity of vanities. In the Bible we have the example of Paul the apostle. At the end, he declared: "I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing" (2 Timothy 4:7-8). Such a man as the great Apostle saw no vanity because he realised very quickly that "a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth."
If you are tempted to make mammon your god, think twice because "If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable". Before worshipping at the altar of Baal, remember that God is the ultimate Judge and the only One we must worship on earth and in eternity. Only what is done for Christ lasts forever, else everything is vanity of vanities. Choose Christ and choose life today.

God is a loving Father, and desires the best for His children. But the enemy (Satan), desires our downfall. In life, you need a guide so that you will be guided to make the right choices in every area of your life.
In our Bible passage, Ahaziah chose to follow the instructions of his mother. He behaved wickedly and followed the bad lifestyle of his parents. God lifted him up, but he abused the privilege. His determination to forsake God and be a wicked king led to his downfall.
Who is your counsellor? In the midst of many counsellors, the truth will be established. Let Jesus be your best Counsellor, and the Holy Spirit be your Guide. Avoid evil company, bad films or anything that will lure you to do evil.
Most children have ruined their future and stopped schooling due to bad counsel from wicked counsellors. Jesus says "Come!" Answer His call and repent of your sins. He will counsel and lead you to a glorious future.
