💠 Importance of al-Istighfaar after the obligatory prayers: Thawbaan رضي الله عنه narrated: “When the Messenger of Allaah ﷺ concluded his prayer, he ﷺ would beg Allaah for forgiveness three times.” 1️⃣ No matter how hard an individual may try, human beings cannot worship Allaah with the absolute perfection, focus, and reverence that He تعالى truly deserves, as the Prophet ﷺ said: ❝while only a tenth part of his prayer is recorded for him, or a ninth...❞. 2️⃣ During prayer, the mind wanders, the humility falters, and the focus slips. Asking for forgiveness directly after worship is an acknowledgment of our flaws and a compensation for the shortcomings in worship. So, the servant should recognize his shortcomings and acknowledge that he has not performed them as he should have. Subsequently, he should seek forgiveness to compensate for those deficiencies and shortcomings, out of humility and as a demonstration of servitude. The Hadeeth indicates that seeking forgiveness is not only for sins, but also for the shortcomings that inevitably occur even in acts of obedience. 📑 NOTES: 1️⃣ Saheeh Muslim (591-135). That is, saying “Astaghfirullaah” three times 2️⃣ Sunan Abu Dawood (796) and graded as “Hasan” by Shaikh al-Albaanee

💠 When Shaitaan whispers in prayer (Salaah), then seek Allaah’s refuge andspit to the left three times A llaah تعالى says:و َإِمَّا يَنزَغَنَّكَ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ نَزْغٌفَاسْتَعِذْ بِاللَّهِ ۚ إِنَّهُ سَمِيعٌ عَلِيمٌ{A nd if an evil whisper comesto you from Shaitaan, then seek refuge in Allaah. Verily, He is the All-Hearer,the All-Knower.} 1️⃣ Ut hmaan Ibn Abu al-Aas رضي الله عنهreported that he came to Allaah’s Messenger ﷺand said: “O Messenger of Allaah ﷺ,the Shaitaan intervenes between me and my prayer and my recitation, confusingme therein. Thereupon Allaah’s Messenger ﷺsaid: ❝That is (the doing of a) Shaitaan (devil) who is known asKhanzab, and when you perceive its effect, seek refuge with Allaah from it andspit three times to your left.❞ I did that, andAllaah kept him away from me. 2️⃣ When a per son senses the whisper of the Shaitaan duringprayer, it is Sunnah to seek refuge with Allaah from the Shaitaan. Then, heshould turn his head only and dryly spit 3️⃣ to his left three times. 📑NOTES:1️⃣ Surahal- Araaf (7): 200 and Surah Fussilat (41): 362️⃣ SaheehMus lim (2203-68)3️⃣Spitting dr yly isnot the usual kind of spitting; rather it is blowing with a little saliva. If a man is pray ing with the congregation, then he cannot spit tohis left in most cases, because it will bother the person standing to his left. So, Shaikh Ibn al-Uthaymeen advised that one spits his Ghutrah (headgear) or handkerchief(or tissue). 🌟 Aspire for the Higher Objective (i.e., Allaah’s pleasure) even in your suffering! 🔊 Ibn al-Qayyim mentioned: One of the scholars have said: “I pondered over the efforts that some of the wise men exert, and I saw that they exerted their efforts towards the same objective, even though the paths they took towards achieving this objective were different. I saw that all of them exerted efforts in getting rid of al-Hamm (anxiety) and al-Ghamm (grief) from their lives. This one would fight depression by eating and drinking, while this one by engaging in trading and earning profit, while this one with marrying (women), while this one by listening to music and singing, and this one by engaging in idle talk and amusement.” I (Ibn al-Qayyim) say (in response): “These are the objectives of the (worldly) wise people, but all these paths do not lead towards the desired objective, rather, most of them produce the opposite result. And among all these paths I did not see any path leading towards the desired objective except the path of turning to Allaah alone, worshiping Him alone, and seeking His pleasure in all of the affairs. So, if he follows this path (i.e., the path towards Allaah), even if he were to lose his share of the worldly life, he will succeed in achieving a higher objective - which one will not miss (i.e., Allaah’s pleasure, the Jannah etc.). If the slave achieves this objective, he has achieved everything, and if he misses it, he has lost everything. And (upon this path) if he were to also receive his share of the worldly life, he would be receiving it on the most cheerful of faces. There is no path more beneficial for the slave of Allaah except for this one. And there is no path other than this which would lead (all the way) towards (complete) delight, joy, and happiness. And our success is from Allaah alone.” 📚 [al-Daa’ wal-Dawaa (1/193)]

🔥 Do you seek relief from sorrow and anxiety, yet prefer not to recite the Qur’aan? 👉 In one of the supplications during anxiety and sorrow, a part of it is: أَنْ تَجْعَلَ الْقُرْآنَ رَبِيعَ قَلْبِي، وَنُورَ صَدْرِي، وَجِلَاءَ حُزْنِي، وَذَهَابَ هَمِّي “(O Allaah!) Make the Qur’aan the delight of my heart, the light of my breast, a departure from my sorrow, and a release from my anxiety.” 🎓 Shaikh `Abdul Razzaaq al-Badr حفظه الله said (paraphrased): ❝With this, one seeks Allaah’s help through the Qur’aan. We one says: ❝(O Allaah!) Make the Qur’aan the delight of my heart…❞, what should he do after this? Is it good etiquette that one supplicates with this supplication while abandoning the Qur’aan? When one supplicates, saying: ❝(O Allaah!) Make the Qur’aan the delight of my heart…❞, then it is for him to open the Mus-haf (the Qur’aan) and recite it, reflect on its meaning, and recite it with understanding. Set aside some of your time for the Qur’aan, so that it indeed becomes a delight for your heart. How can the Qur’aan become a source of delight while it sits on the bookshelf? Or hung on the walls for decoration? This way, it will never be a source of delight. A person will find the Qur’aan a source of delight only when he opens it, looks into it, recites it, and reflects on its meaning. كِتَابٌ أَنزَلْنَاهُ إِلَيْكَ مُبَارَكٌ لِّيَدَّبَّرُوا آيَاتِهِ وَلِيَتَذَكَّرَ أُولُو الْأَلْبَابِ {A blessed Book that We sent down to you, that they may ponder its Verses, and for those with intelligence to take heed.} [Surah Saad (38):29]❞

🚩 Quick review regarding the Fasting on the Day of Aashooraa’ (i.e. 10th of al-Muharram) 🌟 The Encouragement: Narrated Ibn Abbaas رضي الله عنهما: ❝I do not know Allaah’s Messenger ﷺ singling out any day's fast and considering it more excellent than another, except this day (the day of Aashooraa’) and this month, (meaning the month of Ramadhaan).❞ 📚 [Saheeh al-Bukhaaree (2006) and Saheeh Muslim (1132-131)] 🌴🌴🌴 🌟 The Purpose: Narrated Ibn Abbaas رضي الله عنهما: When the Prophet ﷺ came to Madeenah, he found (the Jews) fasting on the day of Aashooraa’ (i.e. 10th of al-Muharram). They used to say: “This is a great day on which Allaah saved Moosaa and drowned the folk of Pharaoh. Moses observed the Fast on this day, as a sign of gratitude to Allaah.” The Prophet ﷺ said: ❝I am closer to Moosaa than they.❞ So he observed the Fast (on that day) and ordered the Muslims to fast on it. 📚 [Saheeh al-Bukhaaree (3397) and Saheeh Muslim (1130-127, 128); in another narration it is: ❝We are closer to Moosaa…❞] 🌴🌴🌴 🌟 The Reward: Abu Qataadah رضي الله عنه reported: The Messenger of Allaah ﷺ was asked about observing the Fast on the 10th day of al-Muharram, so he ﷺ replied: ❝It is expiation for the sins of the preceding year.❞ 📚 [Saheeh Muslim (1162-196, 197)] 🌴🌴🌴 🌟 The Method: Ibn Abbaas رضي الله عنهما reported that when the Messenger of Allaah ﷺ Fasted on the day of Aashooraa’ and commanded that it should he observed as a Fast, they (his Companions) said to him: Messenger of Allaah ﷺ, it is a day which the Jews and Christians hold in high esteem. Thereupon the Messenger of Allaah ﷺ said: ❝When the next year comes - In Shaa Allaah - we would observe Fast on the 9th (as well).❞ But the Messenger of Allaah ﷺ died before the advent of the next year. 📚 [Saheeh Muslim (1134-133)] 🌴🌴🌴 🌟 Do not miss the Opportunity: Abu Jablah said: I was traveling with Ibn Shihaab on the Day of Aashooraa’ and he was Fasting (on that day). It was said to him: Why do you Fast on the Day of Aashooraa’ even though you are traveling, but (when you are traveling) in Ramadhaan you do not Fast? Ibn Shihaab said: ❝As for (missing the Fast of) Ramadhaan, then a person can Fast the equal number of days (in other months); but as for Aashooraa’, once missed (you cannot make it up for it).❞ 📚 [Shu`ab al-Imaan of al-Baihaqee (3518)]

Evil whispers during prayer and at other times come from the Shaitaan, who is keen to misguide the Muslim and deprive him of good and keep it far away from him. Once, one of the Companions complained to the Messenger of Allaah ﷺ about the waswas during prayer. Uthmaan Ibn Abu al-Aas رضي الله عنه reported that he came to Allaah’s Messenger ﷺ and said: “O Messenger of Allaah ﷺ, the Shaitaan comes between me and my prayer and my recitation, confusing me therein. Thereupon Allaah’s Messenger ﷺ said: ❝That is (the doing of a) Shaitaan (devil) who is known as Khanzab, and when you perceive its effect, seek refuge with Allaah from it and spit three times to your left.❞ I did that and Allah kept him away from me. Shaitaan has a group of soldiers, called Khanzab, who specifically target worshipers during prayer, seeking to diminish their humility and create confusion, leading to a loss in their worship. They distract the worshipers and keep them busy during their prayer, preventing them from enjoying the sweetness of worship. They whisper about worldly matters into people’s hearts and cause confusion during their recitation, making them unaware of how many Rak`aat they have prayed.

🌴 Don’t do an act of worship just for the sake of it. Rather, strive to do it in the best way possible. Every act of worship should be performed with full concentration from start to finish, paying close attention to the action, contemplating the meaning, and performing it with humility and sincerity - to the best of one’s ability. 👉 Salaah Salaah is an Ibaadah that requires both physical and mental presence. Ibn Abbaas is reported to have said: ❝You are only rewarded for the part of your prayer that you perform attentively.❞ [Majmoo al-Fataawa of Ibn Taymiyyah] In an authentic Hadeeth, the Prophet ﷺ is reported to have said: ❝A person completes his prayer, and nothing from it is recorded for him except a tenth of it, a ninth, an eighth, a seventh…❞ till he counted till half. [Musnad Ahmad, Sunan Abu Dawood] 🚫 Imagine a person sacrificed his sleep, performed ablution, and went to the Masjid for Fajr prayer, only for a tenth of it to be recorded for him because he lost focus during his prayer and his mind wandered off. 👉 Hajj Similarly, during Hajj, those who come for pilgrimage are many, but those who strive and aim for performing Hajj Mabroor (Accepted Hajj) are fewer. 👉 Adhkaar Furthermore, the Adhkaar, whether in prayers or outside of them, should cultivate humility. As Allaah تعالى said: إِنَّمَا الْمُؤْمِنُونَ الَّذِينَ إِذَا ذُكِرَ اللَّهُ وَجِلَتْ قُلُوبُهُمْ وَإِذَا تُلِيَتْ عَلَيْهِمْ آيَاتُهُ زَادَتْهُمْ إِيمَانًا وَعَلَىٰ رَبِّهِمْ يَتَوَكَّلُونَ {The believers are only those who, when Allaah is mentioned, their hearts become fearful, and when His Aayaat (this Qur’aan) are recited unto them, it increases them in Faith; and they put their trust in their Lord (Alone);} [Surah al-Anfaal (8):2] This is possible when one does the Adhkaar with concentration and contemplation. 🚫 People lose focus either because they rush to finish it or because they do not understand what they are saying. Thus, there is a reduction in their reward. 🔥 We see many people rushing through the Adhkaar as if they are in a race to finish first. ✅ Don’t say “Sub-haan Allaah Sub-haan Allaah Sub-haan Allaah” as one word. Rather, give each phrase its proper right. Recite them properly, with a pause between them. Say them with understanding, because they are not just phrases and statements we say – they are a declaration of belief and trust: Sub-haan Allaah: You are glorifying Allaah and negating all the imperfections that the Mushriks attribute to Him. Alhamdulillaah: You are thanking Allaah for all His numerous favors and blessings. Allaahu Akbar: You are affirming that He is the greatest. He alone can solve your problems. No task is big, and no problem is difficult for Him. 🌟🌟🌟 اللهم اعنا على ذكرك وشكرك وحسن عبادتك O Allah, help us to remember You, to give thanks to You, and to perform Your worship in the best manner.

Among the Aayaat and Ahaadeeth that one should memorize are the ones related with Tawheed. They help in strengthening ones Imaan, and helps when talking with the kids and others about Tawheed. One can start by memorizing the Aayaat related with the Conditions and Pillars of *Laa Ilaaha Ilallaah* that are found in the Book Shaikh Ibn Baaz رحمه الله: "Important Lessons For Every Muslim" You owe it to yourself!

If you want your repentance to be fruitful, then seek Allaah’s forgiveness with an attentive heart and a sweet tongue, with the intention that you are repenting from the sin, while also beseeching Him for His Mercy, Favors, and Blessings.
503
14
⚡️ Ponder: What is the purpose of your repentance? 👉 One might say: “I sought Allaah’s forgiveness, but neither did I receive what was promised in the Qur’aan and nor do I think that Allaah forgave me!” It could be that his repentance was not sincere, and his repenting is in need of repentance. He might have to seek repentance for the way he is repenting! Seeking forgiveness is not merely by the movement of the tongue. Rather, one should stop sinning, remove the factors that cause him to sin, and leave the path that leads towards sins. This is the condition of sincere repentance. 🌟 For example: one has an inappropriate pic or video in his smartphone. So, the first step towards sincere repentance is that he deletes it, does not go back to it, does not share it with others, and seeks Allaah’s forgiveness and does good deeds. As Allaah تعالى said: وَإِنِّي لَغَفَّارٌ لِّمَن تَابَ وَآمَنَ وَعَمِلَ صَالِحًا ثُمَّ اهْتَدَىٰ {But indeed, I am the Perpetual Forgiver of whoever repents and believes and does righteousness and then continues in guidance.} 📚[Surah Taha (20): 82] Allaah تعالى mentioned the following as a sign of sincere repentance: 1️⃣ Turning to Him in repentance by leaving evil deeds and acts of disobedience. 2️⃣ Believing in Allaah that He alone deserves worship. 3️⃣ And increasing in doing good deeds. Does Allaah stop it at here?! No, rather, He تعالى adds to it: 4️⃣ And continues in guidance – meaning: he remains constant in doing good deeds till his death. Remember, and be assured that if Allaah guides you towards seeking forgiveness, then He تعالى will indeed forgive you, repel the harm, remove the hardship, provide you with a way out of difficulties, and provide you with what He has promised. If you are sick, then seek Allaah’s forgiveness continuously! If you are in debt, then seek Allaah’s forgiveness continuously! The One who has made seeking forgiveness and obligation upon you, has also promised that He will remove your hardships. You want riches, then seek Allaah’s forgiveness! You’re seeking wellbeing (al-`Aafiyah), then seek Allaah’s forgiveness! You’re depressed and want to get rid of depression, then seek Allaah’s forgiveness! You’re hurt and sadness has engulfed your heart, then seek Allaah’s forgiveness! Your chest feels constricted and you want to get rid of that feeling, then seek Allaah’s forgiveness! You want your children to be righteous, then seek Allaah’s forgiveness! Seek forgiveness, such that your heart follows your tongue, and not by merely moving your tongue only. What is on your tongue should be in your heart as well. Some people say: Astaghfirullaah! Astaghfirullaah! But their intention is not to seek Allaah’s forgiveness. They heard the Aayah: فَقُلْتُ اسْتَغْفِرُوا رَبَّكُمْ إِنَّهُ كَانَ غَفَّارًا ‎* يُرْسِلِ السَّمَاءَ عَلَيْكُم مِّدْرَارًا ‎* وَيُمْدِدْكُم بِأَمْوَالٍ وَبَنِينَ وَيَجْعَل لَّكُمْ جَنَّاتٍ وَيَجْعَل لَّكُمْ أَنْهَارًا {And (Nooh عليه السلام) said: “Seek forgiveness of your Lord. Indeed, He is ever a Perpetual Forgiver. He will send [rain from] the sky upon you in [continuing] showers, and give you increase in wealth and children and provide for you gardens and provide for you rivers.} 📚[Surah Nooh (71): 10-12] 🚫 So, one might do Istighfaar so that he gets married. The other does Istighfaar so that he becomes successful, or to get rich, or to pass in the exams. Indeed, Allaah will provide for the one who seeks forgiveness with all that He has promised, but with a condition, that his intention should be to repent and to seek Allaah’s forgiveness for the sins that he had committed. When one seeks forgiveness for his sins, then as the fruits of his repentance, Allaah تعالى will provide for him all that He has promised in those Aayaat, and with much more. Don’t seek forgiveness with the intention that you are seeking marriage! Don’t seek forgiveness with the intention that you want to get rich! Seek forgiveness for your sins first and Allaah will definitely provide for you with all that.

♻️ Importance of learning the right way to offer the Salaah 1️⃣ Abu Hurairah رضي الله عنه reported that the Prophet ﷺ said: ❝Indeed the first deed by which a servant will be called to account on the Day of Resurrection is his Salaah. If it is complete, he is successful and saved, but if it is defective, he has failed and lost. So if something is deficient in his obligatory (prayers) then the Lord عز وجل will say (to the Angels while He knows best): {Look and see whether My slave has any voluntary prayers to make up for what is deficient from his obligatory prayers.} Then the rest of his deeds will be treated like that.❞ 📚[Sunan al-Tirmidhee (413) and the wordings are his, Sunan Abu Dawood (864), Sunan al-Nasaa’ee (465. 466. 467), and Sunan Ibn Maajah (1425, 1426) and graded as “Saheeh” by Shaikh al-Albaanee. 2️⃣ `Ammaar bin Yasir رضي الله عنهما said: I heard the Apostle of Allaah ﷺ say: ❝ A man returns after saying his prayer while only a tenth part of his prayer, or a ninth part, or an eight part, or a seventh part, or a sixth part, or a fifth part, or a third part, or half of it, is recorded for him.❞ 📚 [Sunan Abu Dawood (796) and graded as “Hasan” by Shaikh al-Albaanee] 3️⃣ Narrated Zaid bin Wahb: Hudhaifah رضي الله عنه saw a person who was not performing the bowing and prostration perfectly. He said to him: ❝You have not prayed and if you should die you would die on a religion other than that of Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم.❞ 📚[Saheeh al-Bukhaaree (791)] 4️⃣ Zayd bin Wahb reports: We were once sitting in the Masjid with Hudhaifah (ibn Al-Yamaan) رضي الله عنه when a man entered from the gates of Kindah and stood to pray; but he did not complete the bowing or prostration postures. When he had finished praying, Hudhaifah asked him: ❝How long have you been praying in this manner?❞ The man replied: “For forty years.” Hudhaifah said: ❝You have not prayed for forty years! And if you were to die praying in this manner you would die upon a way (fitrah) other than the way of Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم.❞ 📚 [Saheeh Ibn Hibbaan (1894)]

A poem for the people of understanding: A simple translation, even though all the rhyming is lost: 1. Whoever cannot STAND on (the plains of) Arafah -- then let him STAND within the boundaries of Allaah تعالى that He has set. 2. Whoever cannot STAY (the night) in Muzdalifah -- then let him be determined to STAY obedient to Allaah to draw near and closer to Him. 3. Whoever cannot SACRIFICE his animal in Minaa -- then let him SACRIFICE his desires here (in this world) so that he reaches with it al-Minaa (the place of greater gathering - the Hereafter). 4. Whoever is not able to reach the HOUSE (the Kabah) because it is far away from him -- then let him seek the Lord of the HOUSE, for He تعالى is closer to him than his jugular vein. [Adopted from Lataaif al-Ma`aarif (1/287)]
