Physicians for Human Rights Israel has warned that Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya, director of Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza, is now in immediate danger of being killed in Israeli occupation custody. His lawyer, Nasser Odeh, who visited him on 2 July at the underground Rakefet interrogation facility inside Nitzan Prison, said he barely recognized him. Dr. Abu Safiya was brought in shackled hand and foot, flanked by masked guards, his head, eyes, ears and neck covered in fresh injuries. He struggled to breathe and speak, could not sit upright without nearly collapsing, and seemed close to losing consciousness, too frightened to speak freely. He told his lawyer that after his Supreme Court appeal was heard in June, guards entered his solitary cell and beat him with a hammer and batons, and that since his transfer to Rakefet on 24 June he has been beaten daily to the point of repeatedly losing consciousness, with no medical care. He said plainly: this is the last time you will see me, they brought me here to kill me. الخارجية// حواجز الموت الاسرائيلية تعدم الطفل الرضيع أحمد معروف زيد تؤكد وزارة الخارجية والمغتربين ان الحواجز ونقاط التفتيش الإسرائيلية هي حواجز موت، وأدوات تستخدمها سلطات الاحتلال الإسرائيلية لاضطهاد وقتل ابناء الشعب الفلسطيني واستهداف حياتهم عمدا، واخرها الجريمة البشعة التي ارتكبتها قوات الاحتلال الإسرائيلي عند مدخل قرية دير عمار غرب رام الله، والمتمثلة في منع نقل الطفل الرضيع أحمد معروف زيد، البالغ من العمر أربعة أشهر، والذي كان يعاني من نقص الأكسجين وتشنجات، إلى المستشفى واحتجازه عبر اغلاق الطريق لأكثر من ساعة عبر حاجز عسكري اسرائيلي ببوابة حديدية مغلقة عند مدخل القرية، رغم حالته الصحية الحرجة وكونه في طريقه لتلقي العلاج، ما أدى في نهاية المطاف إلى استشهاده أثناء احتجازه وانتظاره النقل إلى المستشفى على حواجز الاحتلال. وإذ تدين وزارة الخارجية والمغتربين بأشد العبارات هذه الجريمة النكراء كجزء من سياسة ممنهجة ومتعمدة لاستهداف الأطفال كما رصدتها تقارير اللجان الدولية المستقلة للتحقيق وغيرها من مؤسسات الأمم المتحدة والمنظمات الدولية. وتؤكد الوزارة أن استمرار إفلات مرتكبي الجرائم من العقاب يشجع الاحتلال على ارتكاب المزيد من الانتهاكات بحق الشعب الفلسطيني، وأن هذه الجريمة تمثل حلقة جديدة في سلسلة طويلة من جرائم الاحتلال بحق المدنيين، وخاصة الأطفال، وتشكل جريمة مركبة تضاف إلى سجل هذه الجرائم المتواصلة. وتؤكد وزارة الخارجية والمغتربين استمرار جهودها السياسية والقانونية والدبلوماسية في مختلف المحافل الدولية لملاحقة مرتكبي هذه الجرائم وضمان محاسبتهم، وصولا الى حماية الشعب الفلسطيني وأطفاله، وتدعو المجتمع الدولي للعمل على إنهاء الاحتلال الإسرائيلي، بأسرع وقت ممكن، باعتباره جذر الجرائم، وتحقيق حقوق شعبنا الفلسطيني وتجسيد دولة فلسطين المستقلة وذات السيادة بعاصمتها القدس الشرقية.
