The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said Israeli military checkpoints have become "checkpoints of death," systematically employed by the occupation authorities as a tool to oppress the Palestinian people and endanger their lives. الوزيرة شاهين تلتقي نظيرتها البريطانية وتؤكد ضرورة اتخاذ إجراءات أكثر حزماً لإنهاء الاحتلال ووقف الجرائم الإسرائيلية في الارض الفلسطينية المحتلة التقت وزيرة الخارجية والمغتربين، د. فارسين أغابكيان شاهين، اليوم الأحد، وزيرة الخارجية البريطانية، إيفيت كوبر، في العاصمة البريطانية لندن، وذلك في إطار زيارة رسمية تقوم بها إلى المملكة المتحدة. وفي مستهل اللقاء، أعربت الوزيرة شاهين عن شكرها للمملكة المتحدة على اعترافها بدولة فلسطين، مؤكدة أهمية هذه الخطوة في ضوء المسؤولية التاريخية لبريطانيا تجاه دولة فلسطين وحق شعبها في تقرير المصير وتجسيد دولته المستقلة، مشددة على أن هذا الاعتراف ينبغي أن يشكل بداية لسياسة بريطانية واضحة تسهم في إنهاء الاحتلال الإسرائيلي للأرض الفلسطينية المحتلة وعاصمتها القدس الشرقية. وأشادت الوزيرة بالقرارات الأخيرة التي اتخذتها الحكومة البريطانية، بما في ذلك فرض عقوبات على مؤسسات استيطانية إسرائيلية متطرفة، واستئناف دعم وكالة الأمم المتحدة لإغاثة وتشغيل اللاجئين الفلسطينيين (الأونروا)، وتسهيل سفر الطلبة والجرحى الفلسطينيين من قطاع غزة لتلقي العلاج في المملكة المتحدة، معتبرة أن هذه الخطوات تمثل مؤشرات إيجابية ينبغي البناء عليها. وأكدت شاهين أن هذه الإجراءات تنسجم مع مبادئ القانون الدولي والقيم والمبادئ التي تتبناها المملكة المتحدة، لكنها غير كافية، داعية الحكومة البريطانية إلى اتخاذ خطوات أكثر فاعلية، في ظل استمرار إسرائيل في سياساتها الاجرامية في الأرض الفلسطينية المحتلة، ولا سيما في قطاع غزة، الذي مضى على تعرضه للإبادة الجماعية أكثر من ألف يوم، دون وضع حد للجرائم الإسرائيلية. كما استعرضت الوزيرة الأوضاع الخطيرة في مدينة القدس المحتلة، محذرة من السياسات الإسرائيلية الرامية إلى فرض واقع جديد في المدينة، من خلال التضييق على المواطنين الفلسطينيين، واستهداف الوجود المسيحي الفلسطيني، وفرض ضرائب مجحفة على الكنائس والأراضي التابعة لها، في إطار محاولات تغيير الطابع متعدد الأديان للمدينة المقدسة والوضع التاريخي والقانوني القائم. ودعت الوزيرة الحكومة البريطانية إلى فرض عقوبات شاملة على منظومة الاستيطان الاستعماري الإسرائيلي، مؤكدة أنه "لا توجد مستوطنة جيدة وأخرى سيئة"، ومطالبة بتعزيز الإجراءات البريطانية لمنع استيراد وتداول منتجات المستوطنات الإسرائيلية في الأسواق البريطانية. كما أطلعت الوزيرة نظيرتها البريطانية على جهود الإصلاح والتطوير التي تنفذها حكومة دولة فلسطين، مؤكدة التزام القيادة الفلسطينية بتنفيذ برنامج الإصلاح وإجراء الانتخابات باعتبارها استحقاقاً وطنياً نابعاً من المصلحة الفلسطينية، مشيرة إلى تنظيم الانتخابات البلدية مطلع العام الجاري، والاستعداد لإجراء انتخابات المجلس الوطني والمجلس التشريعي في شهر نوفمبر المقبل، تليها الانتخابات الرئاسية مطلع العام القادم. وحضر اللقاء، إلى جانب الوزيرة، سفير دولة فلسطين لدى المملكة المتحدة، د. حسام زملط، والقنصل رنا أبو عياش، ومسؤول الملف السياسي في السفارة مروان ياغي، فيما شارك من الجانب البريطاني، إلى جانب وزيرة الخارجية، القنصل العام البريطاني في القدس، هيلين وينترتون. Patients with complex injuries are getting a new lease on life at the specialized Al Amal PRCS rehabilitation hospital in #Gaza, established with @WHO support. With support from @CanadaDev, WHO is working to meet the rehabilitation needs of patients, providing essential assistive devices including wheelchairs, crutches, prosthetic limbs, and walking aids. WHO and @CanadaDev are also investing in the people behind the care, delivering multidisciplinary rehabilitation training to local health workers, including physiotherapists, nurses, and psychological counsellors, to strengthen and sustain rehabilitation services for the long term. The need could not be more urgent. Over 43,000 people in Gaza have sustained life-changing injuries requiring rehabilitation. Yet despite ongoing efforts, only one third of the need for assistive devices has been met, and access remains a critical barrier with essential supplies continuing to face denial at entry points. Assistive devices must be allowed into Gaza at scale and without delay. WHO reiterates its call for unimpeded humanitarian access and the unrestricted movement of essential medicines and medical supplies into Gaza.
