The text above gives us a glimpse into the prayer life of Elijah. Here, the man (of like nature with us) whose effectual fervent prayer suspended rain for three and half years reappeared to show himself to the King and revoke the decree for draught he made which heaven established. With all boldness, he assuredly announced to the King that there would be rain and asked him to go eat and drink (celebrate the imminent rainfall). The King went to eat and drink, but the prophet went up to the mountain to pray. It is not enough to make a prophetic declaration, back your words with prayer.
There came a heavy downpour, the King hitched up his chariot and never bothered about the prophet that prayed down the rain. But the Lord refused his prophet to be drenched by rain. Elijah ran on foot but was fast enough to overtake the King in his chariot and arrived at Jazreel before the King. This may sound unbelievable, but the Scripture said that the hand of God was upon Elijah. Elijah did not run in his physical strength, but the power of God almighty, whose hand was upon him, took him to Jazreel.
When the hand of the Lord is upon a man, he does extraordinary things, he exhibits extraordinary strength, wisdom and influence. He can overtake those who started earlier before him. "It is not he that runneth or he that willeth but he that showeth mercy". By the mercy of God, you shall overtake those that started before you in business, finance, academic qualifications, etc. You are overtaking!

There have been wars upon wars in our world from time immemorial. As the Lord Jesus said, ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom" (Matt 24:6-7). These wars are upon us in our world right now. Nations are busy amassing weapons of destruction for themselves to fight against other nations.
The real battle then and now is not physical but spiritual. All the world wars, the cold-wars and the current insurgencies in the world are more or less distractions. They take attentions away from the real battle which has been waging from time. Paul cautioned that "we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places" (Eph. 6:12). The real battle is about who rules our soul, God or Satan?
That is why we must put on the whole armour of God at all times. There should be no unguarded moment. The foe does not observe any cease fire. As the hymn writer said, Christian, seek not yet repose, Hear thy gracious Savior say; Thou art in the midst of foes: Watch and pray.

🖊️ COMMENTARY
The parable of the sower could lead to gloom if not properly understood. Out of four types of soil, only one was ultimately productive. It compares with the teaching that the way to life is so narrow that only few find it
while the way of destruction is wide and many find it (Matt 7:13–14). That the saints will be outnumbered in this world could lead to the persecution of the outnumbered saints. They live in a hostile world controlled by a vicious arch spirit that controls the children ofdisobedience (Eph. 2::2). Almost everywhere in this world is like the valley of shadow of death. We are like strangers living in a xenophobic nation(1 Peter 4:1-4).
But in all these, we are more than conquerors (Rom 8:37). Just
one týpe of soil but it produced a hundredfold! Let us work hard
and put our best in loving and serving our God. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, we will reproduce the multitude of saints which no man can count (Rev. 7:9-10). The gates of Hades cannot and will not stop the Kingdom of God of which citizens and warriors we are. They are fighting but the outcome has been predetermined. We will have the last laugh.
Let each of us have and nourish a noble and good heart. When we hear the word, let us retain it, and by persevering we will produce a crop a hundredfold (Luke 8:15).

🖊️ COMMENTARY
In our walk with God, we need to be business-like; not in the sense of seeking what is in it for us, but in being serious-minded. The Psalmist was of such a mind, hence, he was able to acknowledge that God heard his prayer. Perhaps, he had a prayer diary where he recorded the requests he made to God, when they were made and when they were answered. Such tracking must have been the factor that made it possible for him to know when God answered his prayer, for he stated: "...certainly, God heard my prayer." Of course, he did return praise to God.
Unlike the Psalmist, most people are either absent-minded in their business with God, or they lack the discipline to consistently follow through their dealings with Him. If it were to be in the home, the child will keep on tracking the request he made of the father until it is attended to, and he seals it with, THANK YOU, DADDY. The child does this because of the unalloyed confidence he reposes in his father.
Communicating our needs to God is not enough. We should trust Him enough to confidently follow up our prayer communions with Him until they are met. We can inquire to know His response and if there are some faith-actions we are required to do in line with the requests we made, and whether we should exercise a little patience before they come or to expect them soon. Such an attitude marks us as serious-minded in our relationship with Him, and also reveals the level of trust we repose in Him.
God does not pile up prayers; He answers them. So, tracking our prayers should be as habitual as people track business deals until they are sealed. Keep tracking your prayer deals with God, it will not only keep you closer to Him, but frees you from worries.

🖊️ COMMENTARY
Often, our attitude when we read the Bible suggests
that we are more interested in fulfilling a religious ritual than in accessing divine direction. This attitude is also not different when we come to the place of prayer.
Prayer is supposed to be a dialogue between man and God, but we often do all the talking and expect God do the listening. To make matters worse, we hurriedly leave His presence without waiting for His response. This is wrong!
We are encouraged by God's word today to learn to seek and find the exact word God has for us each time we go to Him. Finding His word whether a word of correction, reproof, instruction in righteousness or encouragement - should make us joyful. David, Jeremiah and Ezekiel had this uncommon experience and we can be blessed by following in their footsteps.
Every time we open the Bible or gather in worship, we should do so with the anticipation that the Almighty God may have something to say to us. We have to be more concerned with what God will say to us during our prayer times than in what we wish to say to Him. Make it a habit never to leave God's presence without a word from Him.

Before His death, Jesus told a parable about a man who was taking a journey. He left his servants in-charge of his business and told them to take care of everything. He told them that he might return at any time. So he expected them to be constantly ready for his return. He also desired that his servants remain faithful to their tasks while he is away.
The parable is connected to the coming of Jesus and His expectations from us, his servants, as we wait for his return.
Jesus ascended back to Heaven 40 days after His resurrection from the dead. The angels promised, "This same Jesus, who has been taken up from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you saw him go up into heaven." (Acts 1:11, NLT).
Therefore, we must remain ready and not be:
• Misled by the confusing claims or speculative interpretations of what will happen.
• Afraid to tell people about Christ despite what they might say or do to us.
• Surprised by persecutions, but stand firm in faith in the midst of it.
• Disobedient to His commands.
Everyone should prepare to meet the Lord.

🖊️ COMMENTARY
In the closing verses of his letter, John delivers a profound reminder of the confidence believers have in Christ. He reassures us that eternal life is not a distant hope but a present reality for everyone who places their trust in Jesus.
This assurance should produce in us faith, peace, and confidence. It also transforms our approach to prayer. As God's children, we can come boldly before Him, assured that He hears us when we pray according to His will. Prayer, therefore, is not about persuading God to meet our desires but about aligning ourselves with His perfect purposes. When we pray in agreement with His will, we can rest in the confidence that He answers.
John also addresses the matter of sin, urging us to intercede for fellow believers who are struggling. This reminds us that assurance of salvation does not exempt us from responsibility toward one another. Rather, it calls us to walk in love, lifting others before God in prayer.
Finally, John closes with three unshakable truths for every believer:
1. We are children of God, though the world lies under the sway of the evil one.
2. The Son of God has come, giving us understanding so we may know the true God.
3. We are in Christ, who is Himself the true God and eternal life.
These truths anchor our faith amid a world filled with uncertainty
and deception. Our security is not in circumstances but in Christ, who is our life.

🖊️ *COMMENTARY*
In Acts 2:31-40, Peter continues his Spirit-filled sermon on the Day of Pentecost, moving from proclamation to invitation. Having declared Jesus' resurrection and lordship, Peter now calls the crowd to respond. Here we see the essence of the gospel- repentance, forgiveness, and the gift of the Holy Spirit.
The message pierced the hearts of the people. They realized their guilt in rejecting and crucifying the promised Messiah. Convicted, they cried out, "What shall we do?" Peter's response remains timeless and clear:
• Repent--- Turn away from sin and turn toward God.
• Be baptized--- Publicly declare your faith in Jesus Christ.
• Receive forgiveness--- Be cleansed from sin and be reconciled with God.
Receive the Holy Spirit--- Experience God's indwelling presence and power for new life.
Peter ends with urgency: “Save yourselves from this corrupt generation." The world then, as now, was marked by sin, rebellion, and judgement. The only way to escape is through faith in Jesus Christ. Today, the call still stands: repent, believe, be baptized, and receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

🖊️ COMMENTARY
In Acts 2:21-30, Peter continues his Spirit-inspired
sermon on the Day of Pentecost, declaring the very heart of the gospel salvation through Jesus Christ. He begins with a universal promise: "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." This is the beauty of the gospel. Salvation is not confined by nationality, social class, gender, or past mistakes. It is a gift freely offered to all who turn to Christ in faith. No one is too broken, too guilty, or too distant for God's saving grace.
Peter reminds the crowd that God validated Jesus' identity through miracles, wonders, and signs. His life revealed God's
compassion and power. Yet, despite this, Jesus was delivered not by chance, but in line with God's up to be crucified eternal plan. The cross was not an accident; it was the fulfillment of God's redemptive purpose.
Peter then proclaims the heart of our hope; the resurrection. God raised Jesus from the dead, breaking the power of death because it was impossible for death to hold the Author of Life.
The message of Acts 2:21-30 is clear: salvation is available today through faith in Jesus Christ. His death paid for our sins, His resurrection secured our victory, and His reign guarantees our eternal future.

🖊️ COMMENTARY
One of the most important parts of the body is the eye.
Jesus confirmed this: "But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness...." Matt. 6:23. Your steps are bolder when your view is right. The man was created to walk in three-dimensional vision. The physical vision. With this, he relates to his earthly environment. The psychological vision is where he sees in the mind and thoughts. And the spiritual sight
with which he sees into the spirit realm.
When God told
Abraham, "Lift your eyes now and look from the place where
He wanted Abraham to employ the three you are dimensions of vision without which it is impossible to see further.
Lot was a victim of a faulty vision and suffered irreparable consequences. Lot saw the fertile lush plains of Gomorrah and Sodom but never saw their deprivation and the looming repercussions. His sights let him down.
Here are some possibilities that occur when we see rightly:
1. You make the right decisions when you see rightly.
2. Seeing rightly is the pathway to living rightly (Gen.26: 1-2, 12-14).
3. When you see rightly you are well-informed and secure (2 Kings 6:17).
4. When you see right, we can provide solutions (Exo. 1 5: 23- 25).

God had already provided manna, which had everything the people of God needed for nutrition and which could be prepared in a variety of ways. But these people wanted more and began to ask for meat. Moreover, they began to compare their life in the wilderness with their life in Egypt. They implied that God could only provide His people with manna while Pharaoh had so many varieties for his slaves. As the Psalmist explained hundreds of years later, God's people doubted that He could set a table before them in the desert.
And God answered them. I will give you meat not just one night but for an entire month nonstop." When Moses reminded Him that the fighting men alone were over 600,000, He responded, "Is the
LORD'S hand waxed short? Thou shalt see now whether my word shall come to pass unto thee or not." And they saw, tasted and believed.
Next, God filled 70 elders with His Spirit so that they could feel what Moses felt and partner with him in the ministry to the people. This is an early sign of "I will pour my Spirit upon all flesh (Joel 2:28)". The more members feel what the pastor or leader feels, the easier it will be to run a church. Moses rejoiced at their elevation and scolded those who tried to limit the number of those to be filled with the Holy Spirit. That is a sign of a humble and mature
believer. Pray that whatever burden God gives you, He will give to others.

🖊️ COMMENTARY
Some people live in the delusion and captivity of "I am but a child" in the things of God. There are some who never grow out of being a child or thinking like a child. Such people give excuses for every failure. Sometimes too, others blanket them with, "'he is a child." Often times, such excuses are made to avoid taking responsibility for one's actions or inactions.
Life really starts when you stop manufacturing excuses as to why you are not living it the way you were designed by God to live it. So, stop those childish excuses and confessions. Live your life and carry out your assignment according to God's word rather than what you think or
anybody else says about you. This was the message by God to Jeremiah: "Say not, "I am a child." Josiah became the king of Judah at the age of eight.
The life and times of Josiah is an indictment on many who attribute their failures to age. If God is with you no matter your age, you will fulfill your assignment.
What do you think of yourself? Rid your mind of this "I am but a child" syndrome. Live by what God is saying. Grow up!

🖊️ COMMENTARY
In a world where morality, respect and decency are fading out. Our children are becoming messier. It is now incumbent upon parents and church leaders to appropriate this scripture. We cannot be wiser than God. In several portions of the Bible, God expressly advised the use of a rod in correcting a child. Many vehemently condemn it today. But the question is: what is a rod here? It is not just a piece of metal. Rod here refers to the instrument of correction. The instrument could stand for many things, such as: usage of the word of God; piece of advice: rebuke; mild punishment; sparking striking on the buttocks with the open hand; denial of certain rights for a short moment or use of a cane with love, etc.
The above list constitutes the rod of correction that could be used in driving away the foolishness bound in the heart of a child. Foolishness here refers to silly things that children do. The child left alone has no proper understanding. He lacks sound judgement, therefore his works are full of silly mistakes.
Correct the child when you are sitting down to eat, correct him when you are about to sleep, correct him when you are going out, correct him in the church, correct him in school, correct him everywhere and every time but with love.
"The rod and rebuke
give wisdom, but a child left to himself brings shame to the
mother:" Proverbs 29: 15. Correct your son and he will give you rest, yes, he will give delight to your soul"., Proverbs 29: 17.

🖊️ COMMENTARY
It might come as a surprise to many of us that this
commandment is not age-specific. It's a commandment not just for the young but for children of all ages. God asks that parents be worthy of honour in the way they relate to their children.
And God commands that children obey and show respect for their parents in line with doing what is right. This means both have to act appropriately at each stage of their lives together.
This commandment came to a society without the support systems that many of us are used to. Adult children were totally responsible for looking after aging parents. God reminds us that as long as we have parents, we should honour them, seeing that their living is respectable, and they are well cared for. It's not just a matter of doing what our parents tell us to do when we are young. It's a matter of showing life-long honour to the parents who gave us life, raised us, and launched us on life's journey.
The apostle Paul calls this "the first commandment with a promise." God indicates that when we honour our parents, he will honor us. Some parents are easier to honour than others. But respecting those whom the Lord has chosen to place over us opens a door to blessing. By honouring our parents and others whom God places in authority over us, we honour our Father in heaven.

🖊️ COMMENTARY
God loves children. Every child is made in the image of God. In the garden of Eden, even before sin entered the world, God made people as body and spirit together, and he made male and female to reflect his image in the world. God commissioned people to care for his world, to cultivate culture, and to be fruitful and multiply. We were designed to reflect God's glory everywhere.
As a result, the children people produce are to be raised as citizens of God's kingdom, using their gifts to glorify God. That is the core calling of all parents.
Whether by nature or by nurture, a baby should closely resemble his or her parents, both physically and spiritually. If the parents cannot overcome their differences by means of a self-sacrificing love modeled after God's love, then the child will often be burdened with a spirit of division and disharmony. After all, that's what he or she will grow up with.
That's what God was seeing in Malachi's day. God's desire for us, always, is that we be godly offspring, children who love and serve him in a self-sacrificing way. In our world today, much of the opposite is taking place.
What kind of spirit will you give Jesus today, as well as to the surrounding children Will it be a spirit that helps both you and them grow closer to Jesus?

🖊️ COMMENTARY
The above key verse expresses a declaration of being marked for divine purpose, signifying that the speaker and his offspring are meant to be witnesses and examples of God's power and works. The same is expected of us believers even in this wicked and adulterous generation.
Unfortunately, in reality, this is not always the case. There are many instances where even pastors' children lived a life that contradicted what their parents preach. Such pastors' children are like those of Eli's. Eli, no doubt, was a good man. But his children were described as "scoundrel" (wicked). They had no regard for the Lord, treated His offering with contempt and raped women who served at the entrance to the tent of meeting. This gives credit to Hannah, whose boy, Samuel, grew up. among such corrupt boys but did not tow their line.
Ironically, Samuel himself did not have a better experience with his children than his master, Eli. His children did not walk in his ways; they turned aside after dishonest gain, took bribes and perverted justice (1 Samuel 8: 3). Our children must not live like the world. Even though they are in the world, they are not of the world. The Christian home is chosen and set apart by God to show God's light in a dark world. Other children may, Christian kids cannot.
Every Christian parent should strive to inculcate into their children the fact that they are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation; they are role models to the world. Others may, they cannot.

🖊️ COMMENTARY
The Bible made us know that "children are an heritage of the Lord and the fruit of the womb is his reward" (Psalm 127:3). This implies that children are gifts from God and if they are gifts from God, then they are good. Delinquency, which is the ability to regularly do illegal and immoral things, is a strong seed that is not from the beginning.
A lot of children have made their parents cry. Some parents, on the other hand, have gone to the extreme by disowning their children. That is not the solution. A disowned child has been sold completely into strange hands and usually the hands that welcome such a child make the child ten times worse.
Dear parent, delinquency in children did not begin today. It started with the first child that came into the world. When Cain killed Abel, to Adam it was like his world had collapsed. Later, Seth arrived and the righteous lineage continued. Almost all the twelve sons of Jacob disappointed and brought shame and tears to him at one point or the other, but at last, the names of these twelve sons were written on the twelve gates of New Jerusalem according to Revelation 2 1:12.
There is hope for that child that is making you cry today. Just fulfill your duties toward him/her. Take adequate care of the child, teach him all he needs to succeed in life, especially the way of the Lord, and then keep on praying for him every day even if he is far from you. Believe God, he will.not be lost. Saul later became Paul.

🖊️ COMMENTARY
There is an evil trend prevalent in our society today. Children are turned into bread winners in many families and put the blame on hardship. Be that as it may, these minors should not be subjected to hawking, hustling with motorcycles and tricycles or doing other jobs that amount to child abuse. These children feed themselves, some also feed their families. While most of these parents are alive and healthy, they allow their children to carry out responsibilities meant for their parents.
Paul, in his letter to the Corinthian church, stated clearly that he was not a burden to the brethren who he considered to be his children in the Lord. This affirms that children should not first lay-up inheritance for the parents but parents for the children.
Parents should feed them, care for them, put them in good schools and guide them to be established. Don't expect them to pay you back in the short term. Before you leave this world, lay-up for your children a home, landed property and other good legacies if God blesses you with the means. Train them to imbibe the virtue of hard work. Give your children a solid foundation for success in life, such as the knowledge of God and His word, a sound education, a positive attitude, and good character.
