CryptoQuant: Bitcoin’s bear cycle may be over 🌝
CryptoQuant founder Ki Young Ju says Bitcoin has moved out of its bearish market cycle, pointing to the company’s Bull-Bear Market Cycle Indicator.🐂 The broader picture is turning bullish as well. CryptoQuant’s Bull Score Index jumped from 30 to 80 in a single week — its highest reading since October 2025 — with 8 of 10 underlying on-chain, market and valuation metrics now bullish. The shift follows a roughly 24% rally that lifted BTC from below $64 000 to above $80 000. ℹ️ One major level still stands in the way. Julio Moreno, CryptoQuant’s head of research, says Bitcoin needs to move above its 365-day moving average — around $83 000 at the time of the report — for the new bull market to be "officially" confirmed. Until then, the level remains a key resistance area. 🔳 Community / Website / EMCD App / Twitter / Support

Mining vs. AI: who gets the power? ⚡️
On August 27, Nicolás Rincón, Partnerships Manager at EMCD, will take the stage at Cripto Latin Fest in Bogotá for the panel:
“Mining vs. AI: The War for the Planet’s Energy”Bitcoin mining and AI infrastructure are both becoming major energy consumers. The panel will get into some big questions:
♦️ How should available energy be used? ♦️ Where does each industry create the most value? ♦️ Can mining and AI grow together instead of competing for the same resources?ℹ️ And there’s more EMCD at the event: EMCD Coinhold Wallet will be on the floor August 27–28 with its booth, activations, merch, and the team ready to talk crypto. If you’re at Cripto Latin Fest, catch Nicolás on stage — and come find EMCD Coinhold Wallet afterwards. 🇨🇴 🔳 Community / Website / EMCD App / Twitter / Support

Imagine finding a valid Bitcoin block… only to hear:
“Great work. The blockchain chose someone else.” 😄That is an orphan race. It happens when two miners produce valid blocks almost simultaneously. Both branches compete until one accumulates more proof-of-work. The losing block becomes stale. March 24, 2026. AntPool and Foundry USA both found block 941,881 — twelve seconds apart, both valid. ViaBTC picked AntPool’s branch and built 941,882 on it. Foundry continued building on its own branch, eventually extending it to six blocks. The network followed Foundry’s heavier chain. AntPool’s and ViaBTC’s blocks became stale: the transactions returned to the mempool and confirmed again shortly after, but the block rewards and fees were lost. Finding a valid block is only part of the race. It still has to become part of the chain the network keeps building on ⛏️ 🔳 Community / Website / EMCD App / Twitter / Support

📰 What happened in mining last week
EMCD Digest | August 10-16, 2026♦️ Difficulty holds steady while hashrate eases
Difficulty remained at 127.48 T after the August 8 adjustment, while the 7-day average hashrate fell about 2.3% to roughly 911 EH/s. USD hashprice also edged down to around $31.73 per PH/s/day, keeping mining margins tight ahead of the next difficulty adjustment expected around August 23.♦️ Riot signs a 20-year AI lease with Anthropic
Riot Platforms agreed to supply 191 MW of capacity to Anthropic under a 20-year deal worth about $9.1 billion, or up to $16.1 billion with extensions. The company also sold 4,300 BTC in Q2 and reported a $237.2 million net loss. The deal is another clear sign that large miners are increasingly turning to AI computing as a major growth driver.♦️ Keel (ex-Bitfarms) shuts down all its US mining
Keel Infrastructure shut down all its US bitcoin mining sites to repurpose them for AI and HPC. In Q2, revenue fell about 50% to $30 million, while the company reported a $141 million net loss and sold 1,085 BTC for $75 million. The move shows another mid-sized miner shifting away from bitcoin mining toward data-center infrastructure.♦️ Public miners shed roughly 21% of their hashrate
Public miners cut their combined hashrate from 368.3 to 319.0 EH/s — a 13.4% drop, or 21.2% excluding Bitdeer. At the same time, AI and HPC now account for 83% of Core Scientific’s revenue and 71% of TeraWulf’s. As more large miners shift toward AI, their share of Bitcoin’s hashrate continues to decline.♦️Miner fee revenue hits a 10-year low
Transaction fees now account for just 0.69% of miner revenue — the lowest share in nearly 10 years. With almost all mining income coming from the block subsidy, profitability is increasingly sensitive to Bitcoin price and network difficulty.Margins are tight and the AI pivot is accelerating — reliable uptime and low fees matter more than ever 👇 EMCD Mining Pool 🔳 Community / Website / EMCD App / Twitter / Support

Could the AI boom push Bitcoin to $1 million? 📈
Arthur Hayes thinks it could — indirectly.
His logic:
AI companies are spending heavily on chips, data centers and energy, with much of that expansion financed by debt. If AI revenues don’t grow fast enough, some borrowers may struggle to repay — putting pressure on lenders and the wider credit market. Hayes expects governments and central banks to respond with more liquidity to stabilize a strategically important sector. And when liquidity enters the system, some of it may flow into scarce assets like Bitcoin 🚀AI debt stress → government intervention → more liquidity → higher BTC 🌝 He isn’t calling for a straight line up, though: before that cycle plays out he sees BTC holding $60,000–70,000, with a possible drop to $50,000. Do you think the AI credit cycle could become a major catalyst for Bitcoin? Drop your comments below ⤵️ 🔳 Community / Website / EMCD App / Twitter / Support

📰 What happened in mining last week
EMCD Digest | August 3–9, 2026
♦️ Bitcoin mining difficulty edges up 0.99%
At block 961,632 difficulty rose from 126.23 T to 127.48 T. It is the first increase after two consecutive drops, with network hashrate back near 950 EH/s.♦️ BIP-110 supporters end up on a minority chain
Just 2.53% of blocks had signaled for the data-limit proposal, so its backers split onto a separate chain when mandatory signaling began at block 961,632. That chain produced two blocks in about eight hours while the main chain ran 48 blocks ahead.♦️ ViaBTC shuts down ETC mining
ViaBTC stopped Ethereum Classic mining and deposits on August 4 and gave users until August 25 to manage their remaining ETC assets, meaning affected miners will need to redirect their hashrate to another pool.♦️ CleanSpark signs a 20-year, $6.6 billion data center lease
The lease covers 175 MW of critical IT load at the company's Sandersville, Georgia campus, with deliveries starting in Q4 2027. CleanSpark also mined 586 BTC in July at an average 38.6 EH/s.♦️ Bitdeer signs a $4.7 billion AI/HPC lease in Norway
The 16-year agreement covers 121 IT MW at the Tydal campus and could reach $8 billion with an extension. Long-term AI contracts are becoming a second revenue line for miners with power and data-center capacity.♦️ MARA's Q2 revenue falls 27%
Revenue came in at $174.9 million with a $611.3 million net loss, even as energized hashrate rose 22% to 70.3 EH/s. The company also cut its bitcoin treasury by 29% to 35,577 BTC, a reminder of how quickly a weaker BTC price compresses mining margins. See you next week with another mining roundup.🔳 Community / Website / EMCD App / Twitter / Support
