Ben & Jerry's Israel has launched an Israel-themed ice cream flavour called "Milk and Honey," years after the original Ben & Jerry's announced in 2021 that it would stop selling its products in the occupied Palestinian territories, saying such sales were inconsistent with its values.
The launch also comes after Ben & Jerry's co-founders Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield said they were prevented from releasing a Palestine-themed flavour under the Ben & Jerry's brand. The Israeli business later became separately operated from the U.S.-based company following a dispute over sales in the occupied territories.
Promoted by Israeli officials as Israel's "official Israel flavour," the new ice cream takes its name from the biblical description of the "Land of Milk and Honey."
