The situation in Gaza’s Rafah is increasingly dire as over 1.4 million Palestinians — 1 million of whom are displaced after fleeing Israel’s attacks on other parts of the besieged enclave — are now trapped in Gaza’s southernmost city and left with essentially nowhere to go. As Israel seizes the Rafah border crossing with Egypt — a vital lifeline for life-saving aid — and ramps up attacks on Gaza’s south, the humanitarian crisis is turning catastrophic and Israeli strikes targeting residential areas in Rafah are resulting in significant civilian casualties, including women and children, as reported by the UN.
