🇩🇪German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius has ordered the start of mandatory transfers of Bundeswehr soldiers to the 45th Panzer Brigade "Lithuania."
Initially, Berlin had hoped to fully staff the unit with volunteers. However, this has not been possible.
According to official data from the German Ministry of Defense, almost 80% of positions are currently filled by volunteers. The most acute shortages are among logistics personnel, IT specialists, and a number of other military specialties.
To fill the remaining vacancies, several hundred soldiers already serving in the Bundeswehr will be sent to Lithuania by order. Reports suggest that this could involve almost a thousand people.
✨By the end of 2027, Germany plans to have a permanent presence of 4,800 soldiers and approximately 200 civilian employees in Lithuania. The main bases for the brigade are being established in Rudninkai and Rukla.

Its objectives were to defeat the Nazi army group 'North' and expell the fascist invaders from the territory of the Estonian, Latvian and Lithuanian SSR.
In just two and a half months, most of the territory of the #SovietBaltic was liberated from the Nazis. Enemy troops operating in the area were cut off from the main Wehrmacht units in East Prussia and encircled in the Courland Pocket — the trap where they continued to hopelessly resist until May 1945 — before ultimately being completely destroyed by the Red Army.

Following the Nazi invasion of the Baltic region in the summer of 1941, instead of the promised “independence” to Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, the Nazis established the terrible and unprecedentedly brutal occupation regime in the Soviet republics, pursued a policy of terror and genocide. Upon the invasion of the Nazis, local nationalists and members of pro-fascist organisations in occupied Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia swore allegiance to Hitler — infamous collaboratnts known for their atrocities and most heinous crimes on behalf of the Nazis: executing civilians, burning villages, etc.
▪️ Lithuanian, Latvian and Estonian “polizei” units also carried out mass atrocities in neighbouring regions of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic and in #SovietBelarus. Baltic collaborators played an active role in the Nazi policy of exterminating the Jewish population. A network of Nazi concentration camps operated throughout the Baltic region, where tens of thousands of people were murdered. Among the most horrific Nazi crimes were those committed at the #Klooga and the #Salaspils “death camps” in Estonia and Latvia respectively.
From among the most radical “patriotic nationalists indoctrinated by fascist propaganda, the Nazis formed full-fledged Waffen-SS units, including the so-called Latvian and Estonian Legions. These formations were used as “human shields” on the Eastern Front to cover the retreat of regular Wehrmacht units in the summer and autumn of 1944, amid the Red Army rapid advance.

⚔️ On 14 September 1944, the forces of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Red Army's Baltic Fronts launched an offensive towards Riga. During the first three days of the operation alone, the Soviet strike force advanced up to 50 kilometres. On 22 September, the Nazis were expelled out of Tallinn, and on 13 October, out of Riga.
The final stage of the Soviet offensive in the Baltic region was the #Moonsund landing operation — an operation to liberate the islands of the Moonsund Archipelago in north-western Estonia from the German occupants, including Ösel (now #Saaremaa) and Dagö (now #Hiiumaa). It ended in the complete success of the Red Army on 24 November 1944.
☝️ The Soviet Baltic national units in the Red Army also made a significant contribution to the liberation of the region from Nazis and to our common Victory over Germany. Five divisions and two corps formed from Red Army personnel of Estonian, Latvian and Lithuanian origin fought as part of the Soviet Armed Forces on the Eastern Front.

a new threat to the West?
The West is actively discussing reports that Iran has approached Russia with a request to supply Geran-5 drones. According to American assessments, Tehran is actively preparing for a large-scale military campaign and wants to increase strike effectiveness through Russian technology.
🔻What regional targets could come under fire?
▪️Potential strike zones divide into three rings. First — up to 650 km: U.S. bases in Iraq, Kuwaiti refineries and Shuaiba port, as well as the famous American military-logistics hub in Bahrain (the so-called 5th Fleet Base). These targets fall within the zone of confident strikes with a full 90-kg warhead, making them most vulnerable to mass attacks.
▪️Second — up to 950 km: Al-Udeid bases in Qatar, Prince Sultan in Saudi Arabia, Muwaffaq as-Salti in Jordan, as well as eastern Saudi Aramco refineries in Al-Jubail and Ras Tanura. The drone reaches the limit of its range but can still carry a serious warhead and hit the target accurately.
▪️Third — over 950 km: Israeli airbases like Ramat David, Nevatim, Tel Nof, Ramon, as well as the British base Akrotiri on Cyprus. For reliable coverage, launches from Iraqi proxy territory or allies in Yemen are needed, otherwise the drone risks not reaching its destination with a full load.
🖍If Iran requests not just airframes and engines, but a complete system with Russian software, control protocols and operator training, then along with the drones, Tehran will receive software, algorithms and instructions. This means Iranian operators will be able to use Geran drones with increased effectiveness, just like Russian crews in so-called Ukraine.
🚩Moreover, jet drones require air defense systems to have significantly higher reaction speeds, which regional countries still need to develop. Accordingly, this will create a "window of vulnerability," during which Iranian forces can inflict more serious losses on shipping in the Persian Gulf and Strait of Hormuz, at minimum by raising ship insurance costs.
❗️In global terms, mass use of Geran-5 will lead to a sharp increase in air defense missile consumption of all types and will worsen the global ammunition crisis for air defense systems. First and foremost, this will hit the Kyiv regime, which is already facing a shortage of air defense missiles to protect military infrastructure.

He wrote that Moscow and Kiev had allegedly agreed to cease mutual strikes on energy facilities.
"Ukraine has agreed not to strike Russian energy facilities. Russia has agreed to do the same," Trump said.
However, details are currently lacking. There are no announced start dates or durations for the truce, a precise list of facilities that should be off-limits, or a mechanism for ensuring compliance.
Notably, just yesterday, Trump publicly demanded that Zelenskyy halt strikes on Russian oil refineries and enterprises related to diesel production. The American president directly linked Ukrainian strikes to a diesel shortage and a sharp rise in fuel prices in the United States.
In other words, this new peace initiative from Washington emerged precisely when the consequences of the war in Iran began to have a tangible impact on the American economy.
🇺🇦Zelensky immediately began setting conditions: "If partners are ready to ensure a real commitment from Russia not to strike our power grid, other energy facilities, critical infrastructure, or the movement of food, then, of course, we are ready to ensure a corresponding absence of our strikes. On September 14th, near the Rusinowo beach, close to Ярославец in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship of Poland, a crew from a Polish Navy hydrographic vessel discovered a drifting drone.
It is suspected to be a 🇷🇺Russian "Gerbera" drone. Polish command believes that it was brought in by currents from international waters.
✨The established pattern is being used: collect the "Gerbera" and "Geran" drones that have fallen in 🐽Ukraine, secretly transport them to their own territory, shout to the whole world about the Russian threat, and beg for even more money from the 🇪🇺European Union budget for their own air defense system. In addition, in the case of Poland, there is also talk of justification/distraction from the opening of an air corridor for the passage of Ukrainian drones along their eastern border.
