Ethiopia to Double Electricity Exports to Kenya to 400 MW
Ethiopia is set to double its contracted electricity supply to Kenya from 200 MW to 400 MW, with the additional power expected to begin reaching Kenya in December 2026, according to Ethiopian Electric Power (EEP).
Kenya has become Ethiopia’s largest electricity export customer, with imports reaching 1,584.45 GWh in the year ended June 2026—about 10% of Kenya Power’s total electricity supply.
Kenya generated 15.62 billion birr in revenue for EEP during the 2025/26 fiscal year, making it one of EEP’s largest customer segments.
The 1,045-km Ethiopia–Kenya high-voltage transmission line, completed in 2022, has a capacity of up to 2,000 MW. Even after the increase to 400 MW, significant transmission capacity remains available for future exports.

How Can Post-Tensioning Save Building Height?
Different structural systems — such as flat slabs, beam-and-slab systems, and ribbed slabs — require different slab depths and beam arrangements.
With Post-Tensioning, the slab system can be optimized to reduce structural depth and, in certain designs, eliminate or reduce the need for deep beams.

Reduced structural depth can provide greater floor-to-ceiling clearance.
🔹 Ideal for Height-Restricted Projects
When a project has a maximum allowable building height, saving structural depth can be a major advantage.
🔹 More Floors Within the Same Height
For example, according to
Engineer Abel a project originally designed for G+21 was able to reach G+23 by optimizing the structural system with Post-Tensioning, saving approximately 6.8 meters in total building height.
