🔆 SPECIAL CAMPAIGN 6.0: E-WASTE MANAGEMENT & CLEAN GOVERNANCE 📍 Why in News? 🟢 The Ministry of Steel and its Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) will participate in Special Campaign 6.0, to be conducted from 2–31 October 2026, with a renewed focus on e-waste management. 📍 Key Focus Areas 🟢 E-Waste Management: Effective collection and segregation of e-waste as per the E-Waste (Management) Rules, 2022. 🟢 Mechanised Cleaning: Use of modern cleaning methods to improve workplace hygiene and efficiency. 🟢 Timely Disposal of Pendency: Clearance of pending references related to PMO, State Governments, Parliament and VIP matters, along with disposal of old files and records. 🟢 Awareness & Engagement: Digital platforms and outreach activities to promote public participation in cleanliness drives. 📍 Implementation Phases 🟢 Preparatory Phase: 15–30 September 2026 — identification of targets and groundwork. 🟢 Implementation Phase: 2–31 October 2026 — execution, monitoring and measurable outcomes. 📍 Previous Campaign: Special Campaign 5.0 🟢 Conducted in October 2025. 🟢 Focused on clearance of pending matters, disposal of obsolete files and space optimisation. 🟢 Follow-up efforts included streamlining scrap disposal, weeding out outdated records and improving grievance redressal. 📍 Significance 🟢 Promotes Swachhata, sustainability and administrative efficiency. 🟢 Strengthens citizen-centric governance through better grievance redressal and public participation. 🟢 Encourages systematic e-waste management and efficient use of government resources. 📍 UPSC Relevance 🟢 GS Paper II: Governance, transparency, accountability and citizen-centric administration. 🟢 GS Paper III: Environmental pollution, e-waste management and sustainable development. 📍 Mains Question “Discuss the role of special cleanliness and administrative reform campaigns in promoting sustainable and citizen-centric governance in India.” #Environment
