🗓On April 26, Saint Petersburg 🇷🇺 hosted the 20th ASEAN-Russia Senior Officials' Meeting (#ARSOM). 🔹️The meeting was co-chaired by the Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation H.E. Mr. Andrey Rudenko 🇷🇺 and Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Kingdom of Cambodia H.E. Mr. Kung Phoak 🇰🇭. 🔹 Participants discussed ways and means of further promoting the ASEAN-Russia Strategic Partnership in political, economic and humanitarian spheres. They agreed to undertake steps to deepen practical cooperation in such areas as science and technology, energy security, education, people-to-people ties and digitalization. 🔹The meeting reiterated shared intention to jointly address challenges and threats, strengthen ASEAN-led regional security architecture in Asia-Pacific. Issues of promoting cross-platform links between #ASEAN, #EEU and #SCO were also on the agenda. 🔹️On the sidelines of the ARSOM H.E. 🇷🇺🇨🇳 Russia's President Vladimir Putin and President of China Xi Jinping made a media statement following Russia-China talks (May 16, 2024) 💬 Vladimir Putin: The talks we have just finished highlighted the great significance that Moscow and Beijing attach to the development and strengthening of comprehensive Russia-China partnership and strategic interaction. This partnership can certainly set an example of ties between neighbouring states. Key talking points: • This state visit takes place in the year of the 75th Anniversary of our diplomatic relations. Our country was the first to recognise the People’s Republic of China on October 2, 1949, the day after its declaration. • I want to note the significance of the Joint Statement we have adopted, which sets new objectives and long-term directives for advancing the entire spectrum of Russian-Chinese relations. 📈 In 2023, bilateral trade surged by a quarter, reaching a new milestone of $240 billion, as reported by Chinese statistics. While there may be a slight variance in figures, the overall total is entirely accurate. <...> Currently, there are over 80 priority projects valued at approximately $200 billion in progress or in preparation for implementation through the respective intergovernmental commission. • Our talks have reaffirmed that Russia and China have similar or identical views on many international and regional issues. 🇷🇺🇨🇳 Russia's President Vladimir Putin arrived in the People's Republic of China on a two-day state visit at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping. Ahead of the talks, President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping offered an official welcome ceremony to President of Russia Vladimir Putin, during which the two Leaders introduced their delegations. Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping held a conversation at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, followed by expanded Russian-Chinese consultations. They covered a range of bilateral cooperation topics and exchanged perspectives on current international and regional issues. Following the talks, Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping signed a Joint Statement between the Russian Federation and the People’s Republic of China, aimed at strengthening their comprehensive partnership and strategic interaction in a new era, marking the 75th Anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. The Bolivian Leader congratulated the President of Russia and the entire Russian nation on the 79th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. 🤝 The discussion focused on the further development of bilateral relations with an emphasis on the implementation of mutually beneficial joint projects in trade, the economy and energy. 🇷🇺⭐️ 12 мая в Посольстве России в Австралии состоялось празднование 79-й годовщины Победы в Великой Отечественной войне, организованное совместно с Молодежным советом российских соотечественников. Посол А.В.Павловский сердечно приветствовал соотечественников, в том числе прибывших из Сиднея и Мельбурна, сотрудников Посольства и членов их семей, представителей австралийской общественности. В ходе торжественного построения «Бессмертного полка» участники поделились рассказами о своих близких, отстоявших свободу и независимость Родины в борьбе с нацизмом. Самодеятельные артисты выступили с концертом, для детей была организована викторина по истории Великой Отечественной войны, проведена игра «Зарница». Гости по достоинству оценили блюда полевой кухни. Программа мероприятия была дополнена показом документального фильма «Встреча на Эльбе» и творческим вечером, посвященном 100-летию Б.Ш.Окуджавы. Большое впечатление на всех произвела фотовыставка «Без срока давности» о преступлениях германских нацистов и их пособников на оккупированых территориях Советского Союза, предоставленная Обществом «Знание» по инициативе Молодежного совета.
