am i aro?
ive been thinking a lot lately, as im noticing all of my friends wither wishing to be in, or constantly getting into romantic relationships. ive dated before, but its been a while. almost three years since my last girlfriend. i liked her enough, i guess. we were friends before getting together but and she didnt do much wrong, i just felt like everything i liked about her disappeared once we actually got together. like i lost my desire to date her immediately. ive been asked out a few times since, always declining. there was this girl i was very very close friends with, i loved her company and i knew that she was attractive. we got physically close often, which i loved because we had talked about that and i expressed my desire for physical closeness with just friends. i love to cuddle, sleep together (not sex), and even kissing id prefer to enjoy in a non-romantic context. turns out she was romantically interested and assumed i reciprocated because of the physical closeness. she kissed me and tried to proposition me and i actually almost puked. non-related i believe, but still. anyway, i just dont really think i feel the same desire for romance others do. id rather have friends im extremely close with, and upon learning about queer-platonic relationships, ive started to think that may be what im interested in, rather than romance.
there was a little more to kick off my questioning than this, but this post is kind of long already and i think ive hit the highlights, but question away if need-be

Are You Aro (Advice)?
**Hi everyone!**
Welcome to our weekly Advice post about Aromanticism! Aromantic people experience little to no romantic attraction.
**Do any of these resonate with you?**
\* You rarely (if ever) experience crushes on others.
\* You find the idea of a romantic relationship unappealing, and prefer strong platonic bonds.
\* You've been in romantic relationships but felt like you were going through the motions.
\* You've researched what crushes are "supposed" to feel like, but can't relate.
These are just a few signs you might be Aromantic. Aromanticism is a spectrum, and every person's experience is unique.
\*\*Have questions about aromanticism or your own identity?\*\* Ask away in the comments below, and we'll and your fellow Aro’s will do the best to help!

Am I aegosexual or something else?
I am a cisgender gay man who has never dated or had sex and am questioning. I am gay and interested in being with men; I haven't yet. I am definitely interested in romantic stuff, but I feel a disconnect with libido and sexual desire. When I see a hot guy, it is mainly aesthetic attraction, but it does spike my libido and make me>!horny!<. I enjoy the feeling but then have no desire to engage in sex with them or anyone, but I'm not like repulsed or grossed out, just neutral.
When it comes to self and porn, I generally feel the same in a way. I might occasionally>! jerk off,!< but I mostly enjoy watching porn and the feeling of being hard without doing anything if it makes sense. I know the general definition includes fictional people and not yourself, but I am not like that. I don't enjoy anything cartoon or book (fictional), and if I do have sexual thoughts, it IS me with a real person; I just don't feel the desire to act on it IRL.
Another piece I will note is that I feel I could have a fetish or some form of attraction to >!socks and slides!<(don't judge, please). I don't want to do anything physically regarding it, but generally seeing my type wearing them turns me on. Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Just a little PSA
AceDadAdvice (yes the one that wrote that article about all of us being racists for not wanting to use ‘the new flag’) is agender and uses they/them pronouns. I understand the assumption based on their presentation and their handle, and I don’t fault you for it, but I would just like to remind everyone not to assume. You don’t have to agree with them (I certainly don’t) but everyone deserves to have their pronouns and their gender identity respected.

Finding Ace People on Instagram?
I have tried Acespace, A.C.E., and more traditional apps, but had no luck. I Know that this probably a common situation for most people that look.
So, I am considering something else, trying to find people on Instagram. I know that it might feel intrusive in some ways (since it is not meant to be a dating app).
However, I believe that a good amount of people could be on there and interested. My main issue is finding people my age (18-25) and in my area. But I live near several major cities (mid-atlantic), and there are a good amount of communities for ace people specifically (they tend to skew older and are more friendship based).
The other thing is looking for people that are open/interested in romantic connections. I also think people might be more active on there, so less worry about messaging someone that has since abandoned the app (especially ace dating apps).
I have tried city/state hashtags, but they are not really helpful. (For specific locations, the posts are sparse and/or old. For broader ones, they have people from all over the US and world interacting with it.)
Any of you have suggestions?

Flags megathread
Hi, welcome to the flags megathread. As many of you are likely aware the asexuality flag and proposed alternatives have become a frequent topic over the past few weeks on this sub.
While discussing the flag is acceptable in isolation it has become part of a repetitive trend that generates many posts with little variation.
From now on please use this megathread instead of making a post. All new flag posts will be removed.
For context here are some of the more prominent posts about this topic (by no means exhaustive):

Never ever compromise.
As a sex repulsed (21 F) asexual I just want to remind everyone to never compromise. It's literally your body. It's okay to be incompatible and break up. Don't stay with or be with someone who needs sex when you yourself don't want it or care for it. It genuinely makes me sick to see all the asexuals in here saying they compromised. This is your body, your insides, or putting yourself into someone's insides. Do not feel guilty, as again this is your body. Your actual literal body. Your body isn't just something you comprise because you love someone, if someone truly loved you they wouldn't try to convince or even want to convince you into putting themselves or putting you in them.

"teenage love" (Support/Rant flairs)
just turned 20 yesterday. (yes 6/9 is my birthday, so ironic that I'm a sex repulsed ace😭😂) (also, I'm F20 heteromantic asexual)
but I'm not sure exactly how I feel abt it because the main thing I'm thinking abt is how I never experienced that "teenage love" and the vast majority of ppl have had it. It just makes me feel like the most inexperienced person compared to my friends (none of whom are ace🥲). I know 20 is still young, but with each passing day I get less and less hope that anything will ever happen for me
anyways, have a good day guys :)
