"MGIMO Days" in Dushanbe: How it Was 🇷🇺🤝🇹🇯 On April 9 and 10, "MGIMO Days" were held in the capital of Tajikistan, bringing together over 150 schoolchildren and students. 1️⃣The opening of the MGIMO Days at the Y.A.Gagarin Russian-Tajik School was attended by the IR School graduate Semyon Grigoryev, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Tajikistan, as well as MGIMO alumni working at the Russian Embassy in Tajikistan. 👉In his welcoming speech, H.E. Grigoryev emphasized that MGIMO is not just a university, but also a training ground for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other government agencies.

Its graduates include Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and most of Russia's ambassadors to foreign countries, as well as current presidents of Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan.

Elizaveta Rudenko, Head of International Marketing at MGIMO, told the participants about the university's educational programs and student life. 📚 Special interest was sparked by Alexander Chekov, a lecturer at the Department of International Relations and Russia’s Foreign Policy, who contemplated on the international instability in the 21 century.

The students learned how international relations specialists navigate the complex global environment and how the School of International Relations prepares such professionals.

💡The participants tested their knowledge in an interactive quiz conducted by Victoria Sosnitskaya, a public relations specialist at the International Marketing Group. 🎤 At the end of the event, Mirodil Mukimov, a 1st-year master's student in International Security at MGIMO, shared his experience of enrolling and studying at the university and performed the song called “Youth” popular among schoolchildren. 2️⃣ On the second day the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Dushanbe hosted the project game "Tajikistan-Russia: Trajectories of Interaction". About fifty schoolchildren and students gathered to discuss the current state of relations between our countries and propose ideas for developing bilateral cooperation.

, Head of the Rossotrudnichestvo Office in Tajikistan, addressed the participants with a welcoming speech.

👉 Sergey Markedonov, a leading researcher at the Institute of International Studies at MGIMO University, delivered a lecture on the current international and political situation and provided the participants with ideas for reflection. With the support of the MGIMO Scientific Student Society the participants developed and presented their own projects for cooperation between Russia and Tajikistan: ➖bilateral energy partnership, ➖academic exchange program in the CIS region, ➖language tests for migrants, ➖tourist media project "Guides of Friendship", ➖International Center for Diplomacy and Sustainable Development in Dushanbe, ➖transit hub between Russia and Tajikistan. 🌐🇳🇬 "MGIMO Days" in Lagos: Review 📍On April 1, "MGIMO Days" took place in Lagos – the economic, financial, and cultural centre of Nigeria. The highlight of the program was a presentation of MGIMO at the University of Lagos, one of Africa’s largest educational institutions. The event brought together over 100 Nigerian students and schoolchildren interested in getting their education in Russia. 📚 The MGIMO team gave an in-depth overview of the university’s academic programs, admission requirements for international students, opportunities to study Russian in preparatory courses, and the major youth initiative — the "Russia–Africa: What’s Next?" Forum. 💃 Nigerian students who learn Russian presented a lively concert program, featuring Russian songs and Russian folk dance performances! 👉 The MGIMO delegation also held a series of talks with the leadership of the University of Lagos.

▶️University representatives met with Professor Ismail Ibraheem, Director of the Department of International Relations, Partnerships, and Prospects, and Victor Onifade, his deputy. ✔The parties reached preliminary agreements on launching student exchanges, signing a bilateral cooperation agreement, organizing joint lectures, and further expanding academic ties.

👉 The delegation also met with Professor Akanbi Mudasiru Ilupeju, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, alongside with John Faloju, Head of the Department of European Languages and Integration Studies, and Russian language professors.

The meeting focused on expanding Russian language programs, providing opportunities for Nigerian students to take part in academic exchanges, and promoting their involvement in the "Russia–Africa: What’s Next?" Youth Forum.

⛓️‍💥 On April 2, the MGIMO delegation held meetings with representatives of the Government of Lagos. Key members of the Nigerian Cabinet took part in the negotiations: Bimbola Salu-Hundein, Lagos State Government Secretary; Tola Sule, Commissioner for Higher Education; Jamiutolani Alli-Balogun, Commissioner for Primary and Secondary Education, and Mobo Ogunland, Commissioner for Youth and Social Development.

Following the meeting, the parties reached an agreement to sign a Memorandum of understanding on educational cooperation between MGIMO and the Lagos State Government.

✔️As part of efforts to build the network of partner organizations, the MGIMO team met with the leadership of the Nigerian Association of Graduates of Soviet and Russian Universities, "Soyuznik."

Both sides agreed to jointly promote Russian education among Nigerian youth and to engage young leaders in the "Russia–Africa: What’s Next?" Forum.

MGIMO Days in Bishkek: How It Was 🇷🇺🤝🇰🇬 On 3 and 4 April, the capital of Kyrgyzstan hosted "MGIMO Days", which brought together university representatives and youth who see their future in the international arena. 1️⃣Day one was dedicated to MGIMO’s presentation and gathered over 200 participants. Elizaveta Rudenko, Head of the MGIMO International Marketing, opened the session diving into the history and traditions of our alma mater, as well as the educational opportunities and career prospects available to our students and graduates. 📚Alexander Chekov, Lecturer at the Department of International Relations and Foreign Policy of Russia, gave lecture “21st century: Era of Stability or Instability?” and presented the School of International Relations.

The students shared their hypotheses about the future of the global order — ranging from pessimistic forecasts of escalating conflicts to hopes for bringing all countries back to the negotiating table. Alexander Chekov explained how specialists navigate the complex landscape and how the School trains such professionals.

📚Daria Solovyova, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Comparative Political Science, held session “Politics as a Vocation and as a Profession”. Using real‑world examples, she introduced the programmes of the School of Governance and Politics.

Do you know which two islands are anxiously awaiting the end of the Middle East war? The answer is Cuba and Greenland. And our participants got it right! Daria Solovyova then explained how the School teaches students to think strategically, develop helicopter view, and manage international processes.

💡The participants also tested knowledge in a quiz about Russia‑Kyrgyzstan relations and took the “Sorting Hat” test via a chatbot to find their ideal field of study at MGIMO. The most active attendees received gifts from “MGIMO International”. To close the day, Zhanara Turdubekova, a student of the Lomonosov School Research and Education Centre, performed song “Longing for Issyk‑Kul” in Kyrgyz. 2️⃣On the second day, the MGIMO team moved to the Kyrgyz‑Russian Slavic University named after B.N.Yeltsin, which hosted a project game titled “Kyrgyzstan‑Russia: Trajectories of Interaction”. Over a hundred students gathered to propose ideas for strengthening bilateral cooperation. 🖋️The participants were greeted by Sergey Volkov, Rector of KRSU, and Ekaterina Chistova, Counsellor‑Envoy of the Russian Embassy in Kyrgyzstan.

A diplomat’s core quality is love for the Motherland, and the main task is to protect their country’s interests. “If politics is the art of possible, then diplomacy is the art of impossible,” she emphasised.

Both sides confirmed their mutual interest in developing cooperation in the field of education, including through professional development programs for members of the Nigerian Parliament.

▶️MGIMO representatives discussed prospects for cooperation with Joseph Ochugwu, Director General of the Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution of Nigeria's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Nigerian side expressed interest in organizing online lectures by MGIMO professors on the multipolar world and Russia's approach to shaping it.

📍 The MGIMO delegation also visited the University of Abuja, where they met with Hakeem Fawehinmi, Rector of the University.

Both sides agreed to continue developing inter-university relations through academic exchanges and reaffirmed their intention to sign a Memorandum of Understanding.

🌐🇰🇿 "Future Global Leaders' Workshop" in Astana by MGIMO and "Astana" Diplomatic Club: How It Was 📍 On March 29 a joint event organized by MGIMO University and "Astana" Diplomatic Club — "Future Global Leaders' Workshop" — took place at Business Center “Moskva”. The event brought together over 200 school children, university students, and young professionals interested in pursuing careers in international relations and diplomacy. ▶️The event was opened by Elizaveta Rudenko, Head of International Marketing at MGIMO University, and Kairbolat Sakhmetov, President of “Astana” Diplomatic Club.

Mr.Sakhmetov emphasized that such initiatives are of great significance in strengthening humanitarian cooperation between Russia and Kazakhstan, as well as in fostering youth connections. They offer young Kazakhstani citizens the opportunity to learn about one of the premier universities for training international affairs specialists, with an eye toward future admission.

▶️A welcoming address was delivered by Yuri Melnik, Minister-Counsellor of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Kazakhstan and a graduate of the MGIMO School of International Relations.

“Today, it is especially important to be able to distinguish facts from opinions, to analyze current events, and to think strategically. This is precisely what our alma mater teaches,” the diplomat noted. He also highlighted other advantages of MGIMO graduates, including a strong corporate identity, a fundamental understanding of global processes, in-depth regional expertise, and excellent foreign language skills.

At the conclusion of the official opening ceremony, Mr. Sakhmetov and Mr. Melnik were presented with letters of gratitude from the Rector of MGIMO University Anatoly Torkunov, along with commemorative gifts. 🗓️ The main program of the Workshop was intensive and practice-oriented. 🇷🇺🇸🇰On March 25, a high-level delegation from the Slovak Republic visited MGIMO University Continuing a longstanding tradition of multidimensional cooperation between the two countries Rector of MGIMO University Anatoly Torkunov met with Richard Glück, Chairman of the Slovak Parliament's Committee on Defense and Security, Peter Priputen, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Slovakia to Russia, and Ivan Slepka, Assistant to the Deputy Speaker of the National Council of Slovakia.

During the conversation, the Rector acquainted the guests with the history and traditions of the University, noting that since 1957, over 500 students from Slovakia and the Czech Republic have graduated from MGIMO. Among its distinguished alumni are such prominent politicians and diplomats as Eduard Kukan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Slovakia (1994, 1998–2006); Ján Kubiš, Secretary General of the OSCE (1999–2005) and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Slovakia (2006–2009); Miroslav Lajčák, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs (2012–2020); as well as Maroš Šefčovič, Vice-President of the European Commission.

🟣Anatoly Torkunov emphasized that Slovak citizens are currently successfully pursuing their studies at MGIMO, and that the University remains open to expanding educational cooperation. 🟣Chairman of the Slovak Parliament's Committee on Defense and Security Richard Glück, noted the traditionally high standard of training for Russian diplomats, to which MGIMO greatly contributes. He underscored the importance of preserving educational ties between the two countries and of developing bilateral relations with the involvement of the younger generation of politicians and experts.

to participate in events commemorating the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War and the liberation of Bratislava. The MGIMO students who arrived in Slovakia to take part in the commemorative events leading up to the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory

were received by senior state officials, including Prime Minister Robert Fico and Deputy Prime Minister Peter Kmec, an alumnus of MGIMO.

✔️During the meeting, the sides discussed various matters pertaining to educational and youth cooperation, including the participation of a delegation from the Slovak Republic in the 2026 International Youth Festival. 📚 On March 24-25 MGIMO Hosts Final Round of International School Olympiad for foreign citizens 🌍A total of 387 students from various countries and regions of the world, who had successfully passed the qualifying round, tested their skills in the final. 🔎 The competition was held online using a proctoring system, with student volunteers from the University monitoring the process. The Olympiad featured 2 competition formats, depending on the participants’ geographic location. 👉 Schoolchildren from Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan completed tasks in 3 subjects: Russian, English, and an interdisciplinary aspect. 👉 Participants from Mongolia, India, Iran, Serbia, as well as African and Latin American countries, completed assignments in 2 areas: English and the interdisciplinary block.

According to the finalists, the tasks were challenging but engaging.
