Highlights from the speech of Hezbollah Secretary General, Naim Qassem, at the opening of the central Ashura Council at the shrine of Hassan Nasrallah:
We congratulate the Iranian people, the Resistance, and the countries and peoples of the region and the world yearning for independence and freedom on this great victory. Thanks to the Islamic Republic of Iran for linking the Lebanese arena, both the Resistance and the people, with the strength of their readiness to sacrifice and forcing Israel to halt its aggression. The goal was to overthrow the Iranian regime, but the might of American tyranny has been shattered, and Washington's colonial project for Iran has failed. Do not underestimate what was happening in the war on Iran. The goal of overthrowing the Iranian regime and destroying the dignified and honorable life in revolutionary Iran has failed, and the direction has changed. The resistance in Lebanon is facing Israeli aggression, and indications suggest that Israel wants a weakened Lebanon so it can occupy and swallow it up. The head of the enemy government has openly declared the Greater Israel. Israel's project in Lebanon is to eliminate Hezbollah socially, militarily, and culturally - that is, to exterminate a large segment of the Lebanese people through killing, displacement, and relocation to other areas to facilitate the swallowing up of Lebanon. The danger is existential, and we are defending our lives, our future, our children, and our path. We have the right to defend ourselves. We are not talking about a criminal objective; we are talking about criminality. We are not talking about someone who kills children and women as a future aspiration; we are talking about a butcher who acts with brutality and inhumanity, under international cover. So what more do we need to understand and know that Israel has these intentions? We have shattered the "Greater Israel" project How great is this resistance and its people, who have paid a heavy price in confronting the most dangerous project against Lebanon! Had we not stood firm, Lebanon would not have survived for years, and had the resistance and its people not persevered, Lebanon could not have been saved. You see this resistance as legendary, so pay no heed to the defeated. We call for capitalizing on this pivotal moment we are at, following the agreement, with four pillars for expelling Israel. We are strong through the triad of strength: faith, will, and capability. What has endured is not the military aspect, but rather the faith that provides unwavering resolve and will. We could not prevent some of the fighters from returning to the front despite being wounded several times. The will of the resistance fighters is unbreakable, and they are racing to join the front and return to it. The Resistance possesses the capability, knowledge, and invention to transform simple resources into significant capabilities. We also possess courage, skill, and tactical prowess. This Resistance has proven its presence. The Resistance launched 3,185 operations during Operation Protective Edge, averaging 30 operations per day. The number of enemy vehicles targeted was 518, and the number of aircraft targeted was 85. We shot down 12 drones and 12 aircraft, and damaged one helicopter. The number of casualties among the Israeli enemy was 1,347, and their wounded are considered as good as dead.

| 9 | 5 Israeli soldiers were injured, including 1 seriously, by Hezbollah explosive drones launched at troops operating in southern Lebanon this morning.
At around 6 a.m., a first-person view (FPV) drone exploded next to a tank in the southern Lebanon village of Kfar Tebnit, close to Nabatieh. As a result of shrapnel from the blast, 4 soldiers were injured. Several minutes later, a second FPV drone exploded on a vehicle being used to evacuate the wounded troops, injuring a 5th soldier.
1 soldier is listed in serious condition, 2 are moderately hurt, and 2 are lightly hurt.
Following the attack, the IDF carried out artillery shelling on Hezbollah infrastructure in the area. | 328 |
| 10 | Lebanon's President, Joseph Aoun:
There is no fear on civil peace, and those who threaten it have become weak, and they seek to intimidate others in order to remain present (reffering to Hezbollah's threats of civil war).
The assurances we have received and what we insist on is that Lebanon has an independent path in negotiations. However, we are certainly in favor of a ceasefire and any country that helps us, including Iran.
The negotiations are conducted by the Lebanese state, which is the master of its own decisions. No one can take its place, and any settlement will be made through us, not at our expense.
Some Lebanese voices abroad are poisoning the atmosphere and inciting against Lebanon. How can a Lebanese person abroad go in the direction of destroying Lebanon or call for cutting aid to the Lebanese army? I say to those: how are you helping Lebanon in this way? If you love it, you can only love its army, and if you do not love its army, then you have no honor. | 307 |
| 11 | Lebanese MP Hassan Ezzeddine, part of Hezbollah's Loyalty to the Resistance parliamentary bloc, has stated that Iran has now become a regional superpower:
As a result, Iran today has become a major regional superpower and is shaping the future of the new regional order alongside the countries and peoples of the region.
Today, Netanyahu sees himself in a major predicament and is unable to free himself from the political and economic crises and the glaring failure he faces today.
Trump failed to achieve any of his objectives or fulfill any of his promises, especially regarding the Strait of Hormuz, which was open before the war. | 317 |
| 12 | Over the weekend, the IDF struck in southern Gaza and eliminated the terrorist Muhammad Sa’id Ahmad Nimrouti, a Hamas platoon commander who infiltrated Israeli territory during the October 7 massacre and took part in holding numerous hostages captive in Hamas tunnels.
In an additional strike in central Gaza, the IDF eliminated Mu’awiya Suleiman Saqr Ayadi, a platoon commander in the Central Camps Brigade of the Islamic Jihad terrorist organization. Ayadi infiltrated Kibbutz Be’eri during the October 7 massacre.
Throughout the war, and particularly in recent weeks, the terrorists have launched terrorist attacks against IDF troops and Israeli civilians. Ayadi was also involved in planting explosive devices. Both terrorists posed an immediate threat to IDF troops operating in the Gaza Strip and were eliminated in precise strikes. | 325 |
| 13 | Russia is battling a major wildfire outbreak in Siberia’s Krasnoyarsk region, where dozens of fires have spread rapidly across remote forest areas.
The burned area has expanded sharply in recent days, growing from about 16,600 hectares to more than 62,000 hectares, while around 90 active fires remain burning. Most of the blazes are located in difficult terrain that cannot be reached by road, forcing emergency services to rely heavily on aircraft and specialized crews.
Russia has sent additional firefighters, emergency personnel, and aviation support to the region as officials work to contain the fires and prevent further expansion. | 515 |

On the ground, Israeli forces including a D9 bulldozer and Merkava tanks advanced toward the town of Hadatha, while Israeli troops opened fire on a vehicle near Kfar Shouba.
Separately, an explosive drone that had become lodged in a tree in Ansariyeh several days ago fell and detonated overnight. | 477 |
| 17 | According to the wording of the US - Iran memorandum of understanding, Iran offerred 2 things:
1. Opening the Strait of Hormuz.
2. A simple declaration that it will never produce nuclear weapons.
The U.S. offered everything else:
1. A commitment to lift all sanctions from Iran.
2. Lifting the blockade.
3. Establishment of a reconstruction fund for Iran in the amount of 300 billion dollars.
4. Ending the war in Lebanon, including a commitment to that effect on behalf of Israel.
5. Immediate exemptions for oil exports.
6. Release of funds.
7. Approval in the UN Security Council.
From past experience, Iran’s declarations regarding its nuclear program carry little credibility. Iranian officials themselves have acknowledged periods of undisclosed enrichment activity, making assurances difficult to take at face value:

In practical terms, the most tangible outcome of this agreement appears to be the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, which was ooen before the war and it wasn't a war goal in itself. Iran discovered that it can use the waterway as a powerful source of leverage (blackmail), and it is now using this ability to the maximum.
This looks less like a negotiated compromise and more like an arrangement shaped largely on Tehran’s terms which America was forced to sign.
America surrendered and it is dragging the whole Middle East with it as well. | 466 |
| 18 | The 14-point memorandum of understanding between Iran and the United States:
1. Iran and the United States, together with their allies in the current war, declare upon signing this memorandum of understanding an immediate and permanent end to the war on all fronts, including Lebanon, and undertake not to initiate any hostile action against each other from now on, nor to threaten or use force against each other. The final agreement will confirm the provisions of this article and the remaining articles.
2. Iran and the United States undertake to respect each other's sovereignty and territorial integrity, and to refrain from interfering in each other's internal affairs.
3. Iran and the United States undertake to negotiate and reach a final agreement within a maximum period of 60 days, which may be extended by mutual consent.
4. Upon signing this Memorandum of Understanding, the United States will lift the naval blockade and refrain from any interference or blockade against Iran, and restore full traffic within 30 days; the United States also undertakes to withdraw its forces from the region within 30 days of the final agreement.
5. Upon signing this Memorandum of Understanding, Iran will take immediate steps to ensure the resumption of merchant shipping from the Persian Gulf to the Sea of Oman and vice versa, within 30 days to pre-war levels, taking into account the need for Iran to remove technical obstacles and defuse mines.
6. The United States undertakes, together with its regional partners, to create a comprehensive and agreed-upon plan for the economic rehabilitation and development of Iran, with funding of at least $300 billion. The implementation mechanism for the plan will be formulated within 60 days.
7. The United States commits to ending, on a schedule to be agreed upon in the final agreement, all types of sanctions against Iran, including resolutions of the United Nations Security Council and the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), and all unilateral U.S. sanctions.
8. Iran reiterates that it will never produce nuclear weapons. Iran and the United States agreed that the fate of enriched material and all other nuclear issues would be addressed in the final agreement.
9. Iran and the United States agree that until a final agreement is reached, the status quo will be maintained: Iran will maintain the status quo on its nuclear program, and the United States will not impose new sanctions or strengthen forces in the region.
10. The United States commits that immediately after signing, the U.S. Treasury Department will issue waivers for the export of Iranian crude oil, petrochemical products, and related services (banking, insurance, transportation, etc.).
11. The United States commits to releasing and making fully available frozen or restricted Iranian funds and assets, in accordance with the progress of negotiations.
12. Iran and the United States agree to establish an implementation mechanism to monitor the implementation of the agreement.
13. After signature and with commitments to implement Articles 4, 5, 10 and 11, the parties will enter into negotiations on the final agreement.
14. The final agreement will be approved by a binding resolution of the UN Security Council. | 2 094 |
| 19 | Some people have started asking me over the past days what I think of Naftali Bennett so I will just answer here for everyone.
I think that he has a huge credibility issue that mainly goes back to the 2021 election, when he ran as the leader of Yamina (a right-wing nationalist party) and repeatedly promised that he would not form a government with Yair Lapid and Yesh Atid (a liberal party leading the anti-Netanyahu bloc).
After the election, however, he used Yamina's 7 seats to form a coalition with Lapid, Meretz (progressive left), Labor (left social democratic), Blue and White (centrist), and Ra'am (an Arab Islamist party), eventually becoming prime minister through a rotation agreement with Lapid.
He later admitted that the pledge had been “stupid,” but for many right-wing voters the damage was already done.
Aside from the 2021 coalition reversal, another trust issue is that Bennett’s own party quickly fell apart under him. During his premiership several of his own MKs rebelled or defected: Amichai Chikli opposed the government almost immediately, Idit Silman resigned from the coalition and stripped it of its majority, and Nir Orbach later threatened to quit unless right-wing demands were met.
So Bennett did not just lost public trust, but he also failed to keep his own political home aligned behind the government he created.
I see him as politically inconsistent and not trustworthy at all. | 688 |
| 20 | Ebrahim Zolfaghari, the spokesperson for Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters (Iran’s Central Military Command) threatens Israel:
Over the past 2 days, after the US president announced the end of the war, the terrorist army of the Zionist regime has violated the ceasefire in southern Lebanon 84 times and continues its crimes and the killing of the oppressed people of Lebanon.
Iran warns: if the child-killing army of the Zionist regime does not end its malicious actions in southern Lebanon, it should await a harsh response from the powerful Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran. | 582 |
