France Moves to Break Encrypted Messaging | Reclaim The Net
#Franceβs parliamentary intelligence delegation has recommended breaking end-to-end #encryption used by platforms like WhatsApp, #Signal, and #Telegram, granting intelligence agents and magistrates βtargeted accessβ to encrypted messages.
The delegation claims encryption hinders investigations, but experts argue such access would introduce security vulnerabilities that can be exploited beyond state use. While a previous Senate amendment seeking forced cooperation was rejected by the National Assembly, new legislative proposals are being explored. Some lawmakers, like Senator Olivier Cadic, advocate for protecting encryption rather than weakening it, warning against self-inflicted vulnerabilities.

FaceTime Without the Internet | Data Slayer
FaceTiming without Apple...
I tested whether consumer apps like FaceTime, Signal, WhatsApp, and Zoom work on an off-grid #HaLow #mesh #network with zero internet.
The key discovery: FaceTime and Signal connect peer-to-peer if they can find each other on any local network β Apple's servers aren't in the loop. The climax was a two-car highway test where Emilia and I held a FaceTime call at 70 mph, bridged only by Haven nodes and sub-gigahertz antennas. The
conclusion: the "loophole" isn't a hack β it's the original peer-to-peer design we forgot about once we handed the internet to five companies.

This is how the EU/UK now regulates social media:

"Protecting children" has become the standard legal/PR cover. π

π€₯ WhatsAppβs βencryptionβ may be the biggest consumer fraud in history β deceiving billions of users. Despite its claims, it reads usersβ messages and shares them with third parties. Telegram has never done this β and never will π€

Speaking of backdoors, here is what was found in Cherrygram
The client uses Firebase to quietly leak user data. A specific function collects your Telegram ID, active username, and phone number, and then sends it all off under the guise of a standard analytics event named "cg_p_share_info". It's a textbook data leak disguised as simple app telemetry

BREAKING: Google Announced New Rules For Sideloading Apps
1. Enable developer mode
2. Confirm you aren't being coached:
A quick check to make sure that no one is talking you into turning off your security as scammers often pressure victims into disabling protections.
3. Restart your phone & reauthenticate:
This cuts off any remote access or active phone calls a scammer might be using to watch what youβre doing.
4. Come back after the protective waiting period and verify:
There is a one-time, one-day wait & then you can confirm that this is really you whoβs making this change with our biometric authentication or device PIN. Scammers rely on manufactured urgency, so this breaks their spell.
5. Install apps:
Once you confirm you understand the risks, youβre all set to install apps from unverified developers, with the option of enabling for 7 days or indefinitely. For safety, youβll still see a warning that the app is from an unverified developer, but you can just tap βInstall Anyway.β
