Today marks the 89th anniversary of the death of Japanese Fascist Ikki Kita for his role in the February 26 incident.

In Ennead IV, 3, 17, Plotinus presents an intriguing image. In it, the supreme principle is considered a center. Around it lies a circle of light, generated from its splendor. Around that circle, as if emanating from it, lies another circle of light, “light of light,” he writes. Finally, there is a last circle, without light of its own. The center, generator of all things, is called by Plotinus the One, the Good, or God, though no name suits it, for it stands above all things and is absolutely simple. The circle of light that proceeds from it is the Intellect, which is, at once, the totality of intelligible ideas and the intelligence that thinks them. The second circle is the Soul, which proceeds from the Intellect. Finally, the last of the circles, which possesses no light of its own and therefore does not generate a further circle, is the sensible world.
