. The Above Phone was first brought to out attention by Blueghost05 back in Nov 2022, in our Discussion channel. It is another DeGoogled phone option, brought to us by Ramiro Romani (@ramiroro) from Take Back Our Tech, which is partnered with The Greater Reset, which are all similar Telegram groups similar to the Jeff Pro series of channels here on Telegram. The Above Phones are all DeGoogled Pixel phones, and can be ordered with GrapheneOS, CalyxOS or DivestOS. They range in priced from $550 (Pixel 5 with 128GB) to $1,600 (Pixel Pro 7 with 512GB). You can read more about them, and order them 👉 here. You can explore other DeGoogled phone options in our DeGoogled phone thread. ⚡️ Follow | 🗣 Discuss 🗞 Forums #Above_Phone

. It is very important that you prevent as much personal information you allow out there, because a lot of info about you is being submitted by people you know and you don't even know exist, and they don't know they are doing it. The guy responsible for this tech says this could be a game changer for law enforcement to help keep us "safer".   Oh yay. . .🙄🙄 🤡 Here's the video link: 👇 https://odysee.com/@corbettreport:0/solutionswatch-face:9 #Facial_Recognition

⚡️ Kids Who Get Smartphones Earlier Become Adults with Worse Mental Health @takebackourtech | SOURCE A new report from Sapien Labs analyzed the results of a mental-health survey with ~28,000 18-24 year olds. They looked at the relationship between what age they first got smart phones and a Mental Health Quotient (MHQ) calculated through a mental health assessment (Global Mind Project). The relationship between mental wellbeing at age 18-24 and age of first smartphone acquisition remained significant, even in those with no traumatic or adverse childhood experience. This included the areas of 'social self' (how we compare to otheres), mental function, mood & outlook, adaptability, suicidal thoughts, aggressions, and detachment. Read the full report. The data also shows that females were impacted far more severely than their male counterparts, with MHQ scores 20-25 points lower on average. We all intuitively are aware of the negative health effects of tech on young people. Seeing it quantified is shocking. Its also important to take a closer look at what exactly on the smart phone is contributing to these mental health issues. In my opinion, its not just phone calls & texts - its social media that's the major source of the problem. I know I've felt my mental health improve dramatically ever since I left those platforms. Even as someone who promotes alternative privacy phones - I am in total support of waiting until high school to give children smart phones. And more importantly, we need to take a closer look at the content, apps and algorithms that are damaging younger people and educate on ways to have healthier relationships with tech & social media. ⚡️ Follow |🗣 Discuss | 📩 Newsletter

. Sayboard is a newer open source Speech-to-Text keyboard that you can run on DeGoogled phones, making it possible to have voice recognition without using any Big Tech spyware. Sayboard is based on the VOSK project, and runs offline, which means all the speech recognition is done locally on your phone, without sending your data over the Internet. Even though Sayboard is in it's early development it works very great. It takes it a few seconds to open up, and lacks punctuation at the moment, but other than that, it transcribes very well. You can install it and use it in conjunction with your current keyboard. Just tap the microphone icon on your keyboard, and then hit the "Ready" button to begin. You can get the latest .APK installation package 👉 here. (look for the green "Latest" icon. Some good keyboards to use with Sayboard are: Openboard Florisboard Anysoft Keyboard #Sayboard #Speech_To_Text_Keyboards

. F-Droid has many apps, but many apps are not included on F-Droid for one reason or another. So IzzySoft has put together a 3rd party F-Droid repository called "IzzyOnDroid" Disclaimer from IzzySoft: "I have not thoroughly checked the .apk files available here. As stated above, they are directly taken from the repositories of their respective developers. Some basic measures are taken, though" The APKs are scanned with VirusTotal, and then given a security ranking according to that result. See the 👉 IzzyOnDroid Security Section. To add the repository, go to their 👉 web page, take a screenshot of the QRCode, and then send the image to your QRCode app, where you need to copy the info to your clipboard. (Barcode scanner can do this) Then you open F-Droid, and go to —> Settings —> Repositories —> + (in the upper right) A window w/info pops up w/boxes auto populated. Click OK and it will add the IzzyOnDroid repository. After that, you refresh the repositories. #FDroid_IzzyOnDroid_Repository

[Graphic Forwarded from Gohkan in our Discussions channel] Most private messaging apps can NOT be trusted, as recently reinforced by Musk's tweet today. The graphic above shows how bad some messaging apps get. Signal will also attempt to connect to your contacts, but only if you allow it. As you can see, Session is the most private (and secure) . . . then Signal . . . and then Telegram. It is highly recommended that you use more private chat options. so below are links to instructions on how to install the best three. Session Here are instruction on 👉 how to install Session with using Google Play Store. Signal (rumors are Signal is a CIA spy tool 🔍👀. Who really knows) Here are instructions on 👉 how to install Signal Messenger free from Google Play Store spy code. Telegram Telegram is available in F-Droid, so all you have to do is install F-Droid, and then search and install Telegram FOSS. #Messaging_Apps_Data_Collection

. Brave Search (search.brave.com) has comepletely severed it's ties to Bing, and dis now 100% independent, giving only results from it's own search index. This means Brave Search is no longer feeding image results from Bing, like they were openly doing in the past. For nopw Brave Search will redirect you to BIng or Google, until Brave can index more images into their search index. See this article: https://brave.com/search-independence If you want to use a different search engine for images, make sure it isn't one using that is using Google or Bing as a backend. See the 2nd attached image for a list of which search engines use which backend, and to see which search engines are truly independent. #Brave_Search_100_Independence

. John in our Discussion Channel has brought to our attention the official F-Droid repository for the Collabora Office Suite. This is an easier way of adding and keeping the the Collabora Office app up to date on your DeGoogled phone. The repository can be found 👉 here. On the website, you take a screenshot of the QR code, and then send the image to your QR code reader app, where you can copy the info to your clipboard. (QR Code & Barcode scanner can decode the QR Code) Then you open F-Droid, and go to —> Settings —> Repositories —> + (in the upper right) That should bring up a window with the clipboard info auto-populated in the text boxes. You click OK and it will add the Collabora repository. After that, you refresh the repositories, search for Collabora and install. #Collabora_LibreOfficeSuite #Collabora_Android_OfficeSuite #Collabora

. The PineTab2 and the PineTab-V are now available for pre-order, with delivery time estimated sometime in May. They both come in 4GB/64GB and 8GB/128GB memory/storage variants. The PinTab2 runs on an ARM processor and comes with a silver/gray metal casing. The PineTab-V runs on a RISC-V processor, and comes in a black metal casing. Since the PineTab2 runs on an ARM processor, it comes with software, and thanks to years of Linux development on ARM processors, there should be plenty of software available for it. The PineTab-V runs a newer RISC-V open-source hardware processor, so it ships without software, and there is very limited software available for it. You can order them here: https://pine64.com/product-category/pinetab/ #PineTab2 #PineTab_V

. You don't need to use Google Maps or any other Big Tech navigation app. instead you can use the open source navigation app call OsmAnd, which uses OpenStreetMap.org. Here are a few tips to help make the OsmAnd experience nice and pleasant. 1. OpenStreetMap doesn't have many addresses yet, so use the "GMaps WV" app from F-Droid to get the address coordinates, which you can then share to OsmAnd. 2. Put OsmAnd into a more friendly navigation mode. - Tap the transportation mode icon (car/bike/walk/bus/globe), then double-tap the compass icon in the upper right to toggle between navigation modes. "Compass direction" is probably the most useful. 3. Tilt the map into 3D mode by swiping two fingers on map. 4. install eSpeak for text-to-speech (TTS). Select eSpeak it in your Android settings. ->System->Language & input->Text-to-speech-engine-Preferred engine #OsmAnd_Tips_Trick
