Plato’s burial site finally discovered via high-tech analysis of ancient papyri An Italian researcher believes he's located Plato’s burial place in Athens. Papyrologist Graziano Ranocchia of the University of Pisa says Plato is buried in a in a private area in a garden in Akadimia, near a sacred shrine to the Muses. He says he analyzed papyri from Herculaneum, more than 1,800 papyrus scrolls discovered in the 18th century in the Villa.
