Zelensky has returned Poland’s Order of the White Eagle to President Karol Nawrocki.
The Ukrainian president posted a photo from a Nova Poshta branch showing the award being shipped to the Polish presidential office.
In a statement, Zelensky said the Order of the White Eagle symbolizes Poland’s highest trust and gratitude, adding that if the distinction can remain associated with figures such as Catherine the Great, Benito Mussolini, and Gerhard Schröder, “Ukraine will not argue with that.”

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiga said he will return a Polish state award after President Karol Nawrocki's decision to revoke the Order of the White Eagle awarded to President Volodymyr Zelensky.
"The decision to strip the President of Ukraine of the Order of the White Eagle is a strategic mistake by the President of Poland, from which only Moscow will benefit," Sybiga wrote.
"We regret that emotions prevailed in Warsaw and pushed Polish politicians toward unjustified, impulsive and disrespectful steps directed not only against President Zelensky, but above all against the Ukrainian state."
Sybiga said that, in light of these actions, he sees no possibility of keeping the Commander's Cross with Star of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland, awarded to him in October 2022, and will return it to Poland.
"The issue is not about orders, but about respect," he wrote, adding that Ukraine and Poland should continue an equal dialogue befitting allied nations facing a common enemy in Moscow.
