И снова грамматика: Exceptions in the Prepositional Case You already know that in the prepositional case we usually use the ending е to answer the question «где?» (where?) — for example: в городе, на столе. But Russian loves its exceptions and the prepositional case is no exception Here are the most common exceptions where you’ll see -у instead of -е: в лесу (in the forest) — not в лесе на мосту (on the bridge) — not на мосте в году (in the year) — not в годе на берегу (on the shore) — not на береге в ряду (in a row) — not в ряде And here are 5 more exceptions to keep in mind: в углу (in/at the corner) — not в угле на носу (on the nose) — not на носе в строю (in formation / in line) — not в строе на ходу (on the move / while moving) — not на ходе в долгу (in debt) — not в долге 💡 Why does this happen? These are old forms preserved in modern Russian. They’re used mainly with words that talk about location and often go with the prepositions в and на. 📝 Quick practice: Где стоит ваза? — Ваза стоит ___ (в углу / в угле). Он спешил и пил кофе ___ (на ходу / на ходе). ✅ Answers: в углу, на ходу. #RussianGrammar #LearnRussian #PrepositionalCase #RFL #RussianForForeigners

Let me explain the meme⬆️: in Russia, there’s a common belief that all difficult times, misfortunes, losses and disappointments exist so that a person can draw conclusions because a human needs a lesson, some kind of learning experience. In fact, Russians sometimes view any form of suffering as a tool for success. For a long time this formula was considered undeniable: you have to earn your right to happiness through hardship, hard work and sorrow. This idea no longer aligns with the worldview of many people in Russia today. That’s why memes like this appear: yes, okay, we accept the theory that everything is complicated and sometimes tough, and we understand that the difficult times we’re living through are “the path to happiness.” But even if that’s true, couldn’t we have a break in this learning process — so that there’s finally something stable, calm and positive?

Сегодня немного грамматики. Поверьте, она понадобится нам для следующей песни. When we answer the question “Где?” (Where?), we usually use the Prepositional case. For many masculine and neuter nouns, and feminine gender (except for ь at the end). This means adding the ending -е⬆️ Examples: в реке [vrikYE] (in the river) — Где? на столе [na stalYe] (on the table) — Где? на небе [nYEbi] (in the sky) — Где? The prepositions в and на are key here: they both can mean “in” or “on” and are very common with the Prepositional case to show location. ⚠️ Note: there are exceptions to this rule! We’ll look at them in tomorrow’s post. 💬 Have you noticed any tricky words that don’t follow this pattern? Share them in the comments! #RussianGrammar #LearnRussian #PrepositionalCase #RFL #RussianForForeigners

Yesterday in Russia celebrated the Day of family, love and fidelity. Every year on July 8 on this day, concerts are held, are arranged fairs with traditional Russian toys, do workshops, show a cartoon about this holiday This holiday appeared recently. As an Orthodox alternative to February 14. But, as always happens when trying to replace something old with new, now in Russia celebrate both February 14 (there are no concerts and events, but people give valentines to each other), and July 8

I’ve prepared a set of short stories for you. They let you get acquainted with Tolstoy’s and Chekhov’s writing style. As for Paustovsky, he always uses long sentences and very descriptive language. Немного грамматики сегодня: Did you know that nouns ending in the soft sign ь can be either masculine or feminine in Russian? There’s no universal rule. You have to learn the gender together with the word! 📌 Masculine examples: конь (kon’) — a horse гвоздь (gvozd’) — a nail 📌 Feminine examples: дверь (dver’) — а door ночь(noch’) — а night 💫Why it matters? Knowing the correct gender is crucial for: ✅choosing the right adjectives and pronouns; ✅building correct sentences; mastering declension (how words change in different cases). 🎯 PRO tip: When you learn a new noun, always memorize its gender (e.g., дверь, ж. for feminine or конь, м. for masculine). It will save you a lot of trouble later!

Обнимаю вас❤️ Hello dear friends, I'm getting back in touch. There's a lot of messages in my inbox today. I haven't posted anything because I've been very busy. I'm fine. Please don't worry. Thank you everyone who's writing and supporting me. What you're seeing in the news is true: there are fires, explosions, black rain and the smell of burning. Everything that people in Russia are thinking about right now and always: war is terrible. For everyone. I also want to thank you all for your support. It's very difficult emotionally. You are very supportive. You are the best. I hug you❤️

Sure that this catchy tune "Kalinka, Kalinka, Kalinka of mine!...” will be for a long time with you. Sorry )) I just wanted to add 3 fun facts about "Kalinka" you probably didn't know: 1. It’s not actually an ancient folk song! (Watch the video till the end🤫) Many people think "Kalinka" is a centuries-old piece of folklore. In reality, it was written in 1860 by a composer and writer named Ivan Larionov for a local theater play. It was so catchy and captured the Russian soul so perfectly that people quickly forgot it had an author and started treating it as a traditional folk song! 2. What on earth is a "Kalinka"? "Kalinka" and "Malinka" are affectionate Russian names for two types of berries. Kalinka comes from kalina (guelder-rose / viburnum) — a bitter red berry. Malinka comes from malina (raspberry) — a sweet summer berry. In Slavic culture these plants are poetic symbols. The bitter guelder-rose represents the bittersweet nature of love, while the sweet raspberry represents the sweetness of life and beauty. So yes, it’s actually a sweet love song dedicated to a "beautiful maiden"! 3. The iconic "Slow-to-Fast" tempo 📈 Why is this song so addictive? It plays with your emotions! It starts as a slow, gentle, almost hypnotic lullaby and then suddenly explodes into a wild, high-speed dance. This structure mimics traditional Russian dances, where the energy builds up until everyone is spinning and celebrating. Next time you hear this masterpiece, you'll know that it's not just a fun rhythm 💫it's a poetic celebration of love, nature and Russian soul! Have you ever heard "Kalinka"? What’s your favorite version? Because there is a dance! Let me know in the comments! 👇
