Thus, we emphasize that classical music and Bach’s music in particular is not a means of withdrawing from existence. Bach’s music serves as a reminder of the grandeur and magnificence of the universe and of humanity. It is not an outlet for the pent-up complexes of the mediocre; rather, it is an expression of the humility of noble souls before the sacred. AETATESOLIS

At the beginning of every piece, Bach would write "J.J.", short for Jesu Juva, meaning "Lord, I rely on You." At the end, he would write "S.D.G.", short for Soli Deo Gloria, meaning "To God alone be the glory." Orchestral/Classical music is not suited for parties, casual drives, or the lighthearted diversions of daily life.
