Jason Arday is probably not an isolated case. Arday's rise to academic stardom was a product of attitudes and incentives promoting racial diversity at the expense of competence that are universal in Western academia. Those same ideas and incentives have have governed the academic careers of every other non-white, female, and LGBT academic. Therefore, we should expect to find similar patterns of academic fraud. Academia is in a panic about Jason Arday because this is just the beginning.

I mean it's literally as though their brains can only do "no mass immigration = no Jude Bellingham, so we'd have no one to play off the striker, but we'd also have no striker because Harry Kane's father was from Galway". They just imagine voids in a football team.

It's incredible that Aaronovitch thinks the electric chair, a firing squad, or death by mob violence are 1.)  worse than someone who raped a baby to death deserves*, and 2.) that he seemingly can't imagine a more brutal punishment. I can imagine loads, and I know that there will be many more that I can't imagine. * All of that is a lot more soft, merciful, and humane than any child torturer deserves.
