“Empyema”
The presence of fibrin strands suggests that the effusion is complex or exudative, often associated with inflammatory or infectious conditions such as tuberculosis, empyema, malignancy, or other inflammatory diseases, rather than a simple transudative effusion.
🔺Perivalvular leak of a mechanical mitral prosthesis at the 1 o’clock position; 3D vena contracta area (VCA) measured with multiplanar reconstruction (MPR) was 0.38 cm2.
🔺A 60-year-old female underwent a routine health check-up. TTE incidentally revealed a left atrial mass. TEE (2D & 3D) demonstrated a broad-based mass attached to the fossa ovalis region of the lAS with limited mobility, most consistent with a left atrial myxoma.
