These were the first Games in history to have an equal number of male and female athletes competing. Setaweet would like to congratulate the Ethiopian athletic team, particularly Tsige Duguma and Tigest Assefa, who each won silver medals at the Paris Olympics. On July 6th, we conducted an empowering awareness session with a women-only youth group in Hawassa city. This session focused on women's issues, the power of solidarity, and the critical need to address and combat gender-based violence (GBV). The aim was to inspire action, foster sisterhood, and elevate community consciousness around Gender Justice and GBV. The impactful activities were financially supported by Agence Française de Développement (AFD) and conducted in collaboration with Talita Rise Up, our dependable partner based in Sidama, Hawassa. The sessions were vibrant and filled with optimism, driving a collective commitment to creating positive change in the community. We are grateful to have more allies join our movement for gender justice and women's rights initiatives.

We are pleased to share that we held three impactful community dialogues in the Sidama Region last week, focusing on addressing and combating gender-based violence (GBV). These sessions aimed to inspire action, foster sisterhood and solidarity, and elevate community consciousness around Gender Justice and GBV. On July 3rd, we engaged the school community at Hawassa Langano High School in Dor're Bafana Wereda, involving students and parents in meaningful discussions. On July 4th, we held a session with a women-only disability group in Hawassa city, raising awareness and providing a safe, welcoming space for dialogue. These activities were financially supported by Agence Française de Développement (AFD) and conducted in partnership with Talita Rise Up. The sessions were filled with energy and optimism, driving a collective commitment to making a positive change in the community. We are grateful to have more allies join our movement for gender justice and women's rights initiatives.

የመብት ተሟጋቾች “አሳሳቢ” ያሉት የጠቅላይ ሚኒስትሩ ንግግር ምን ይዞ ይመጣ ይሆን? አቶ አበባው ለጠቅላይ ሚኒስትሩ ያቀረቡት ጥያቄ፤ “መንግስት.... እንዲሁም ጅምላ ግድያ እና ሌሎች ሰብዓዊ መብት ጥሰቶችን ለማቆም ምን የወሰነው ጉዳይ አለ?” የሚል ነበር። ጠቅላይ ሚኒስትሩ ምላሻቸውን የጀመሩት የሰብዓዊ መብትን “እንደ ቋንቋ” በማሞካሸት ነው። የሰብዓዊ መብትን ፖለቲካዊ እና ሕጋዊ ፍቺ ከግንዛቤ አስገብተው ለመተንተን ብዙም አልደከሙም። “ሰብዓዊ መብት ደስ ሚል ቋንቋ ነው” ያሉት ዐቢይ፤ “ግን ይሄ ቋንቋ ከዋናው የትርጉም ግንዱ ወጥቶ የፖለቲካ መጠቀሚያ እየሆነ ነው” ሲሉ ተደምጠዋል። ጠቅላይ ሚኒስትር ዐቢይ በዚህ ብቻ አላበቁም፤ “የሰብዓዊ መብት የሚባል አዋጅ ተቋም አሠራርን መፈተሽ ያስፈልጋል” በማለት፤ “እኛ ደሞዝ የማንከፍለው ሌሎች ኃይሎች የቀጠሩት፣ ለሌሎች ኃይሎች ሪፖርት የሚያደርግ ተቋም ኢትዮጵያ ውስጥ ከፈቀድን ምን ሊፈጠር እንደሚችል ለእናነተ መተው ነው” ብለዋል። ይህ የጠቅላይ ሚኒስትሩ አስተያየት የሰብዓዊ መብት ተሟጋች ተቋማትን ያስደነገጠ ነበር። በኢትዮጵያ በሰብዓዊ መብት ላይ የሚሠሩ ሦስት የሲቪል ማኅበረሰብ ድርጅቶችን የሚመሩ ግለሰቦች የጠቅላይ ሚኒስትሩ ንግግር “አሳሳቢ” እና “አስደንጋጭ” መሆኑን ለቢቢሲ ተናገረዋል። https://www.bbc.com/amharic/articles/c4ngdpkz56no

#ኢሰመኮ : የትጥቅ ግጭቶች ለሰብአዊ መብቶች ጥሰት ዋነኛ ምክንያት ሆነው መቀጠላቸውን ኢሰመኮ አሳውቋል። ይህም  " አካታችና ተዓማኒ የሆነ ሰላማዊ መፍትሔ እና የሽግግር ፍትሕ ሂደት አፋጣኝ አስፈላጊነት አመላካች ነው " ብሏል። ይህን ያለው ዛሬ ይፋ ባደረገው 3ተኛው የኢትዮጵያ ዓመታዊ የሰብአዊ መብቶች ሁኔታ ሪፖርት ላይ ነው። ሪፖርቱ ባለ 132 ገጽ ሲሆን ከሰኔ ወር 2015 ዓ/ም እስከ ሰኔ ወር 2016 ዓ/ም ያለውን ጊዜ ይሸፍናል። (ሙሉ ሪፖርቱ ከላይ ተያይዟል) @tikvahethiopia
