On May 31, we facilitated a crucial community discussion with Hawassa University students and lecturers, aiming to inspire and motivate them to address and combat gender-based violence (GBV). Our objective was to promote informed, inclusive, and collaborative dialogues within the community.
During the discussion, we explored strategies for preventing GBV, effectively responding to incidents, and identifying resources for survivors. Participants also discussed ways to support survivors and enhance their roles as advocates within the community. This dialogue empowered both students and lecturers to take action and become more effective champions for their rights and for the rights of GBV survivors.
We are grateful for the financial support from AFD (Agence Française de Développement) and extend our thanks to the Hawassa University student group and lecturers for their active participation in this significant discussion.
