We are thrilled to announce the formalization of our partnerships with Mizan Young Lawyers Center (MYLC) and Talita Rise Up, through the signing of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs). The MoUs formalize our joint commitment to addressing prevalent issues of  gender-based violence (GBV) and women's rights violations in the Sidama Region. These collaborations mark a milestones in our collective efforts to combat GBV and uphold women's rights in the Sidama Region.

We're excited to announce our Project Kickoff in the Sidama Region that started with Key Stakeholders Consultative Dialogue event, 'Uniting for Respect, Empowerment, Equality, and GBV-Free Communities, at Lewi Piassa Hotel, Hawassa, on Thursday, April 18th, 2024. Representatives from various sectors, including governmental institutions, one-stop center, youth group, disability organization, media women’s group, and student group gathered to address the root causes of challenges facing women, as well as preventive and responsive measures. Discussions focused on systemic factors contributing to gender-based violence (GBV) and inequality, with a shared commitment to fostering inclusive and safe communities. The event showcased promising collaborations, emphasizing inclusiveness and collective action. We are grateful for AFD (Agence Française de Développement’s) financial support, we look forward to implementing this crucial project.

የ5 ዓመቷን ህፃን የደፈረው የ17 ዓመት ወጣት 6 ወር ተፈረደበት ይለናል የወምበራ ኮሚኒኬሽን። የ5 ዓመቷን ህፃን አስገድዶ በመድፈር ወንጀል የተከሰሰው የ17 ዓመቱ ወጣት #በ6ወር እስራት መቀጣቱ ተሰምቷል። የ10ኛ ክፍል ተማሪና የ17 ዓመት ወጣት የሆነው ግለሰብ በአስገድዶ ወንጀል ተጠርጥሮ በፖሊስ ቁጥጥር ስር የዋለው ታህሳስ 26 ቀን 2016 ዓ/ም በመተከል ዞን ወንበራ ወረዳ በደብረ―ዘይት ከተማ 02 ቀበሌ በተለምዶ " ሳንቂ በር " ተብሎ በሚጠራው አካባቢ ነው። በዕለቱ የ5 ዓመቷ ህፃን ላይ አስገድዶ የመድፈር ድርጊት ከፈፀመ በኃላ በመኖሪያ ቤቱ ነው የተያዘው። ጉዳዩን የተከታተለው የወምበራ ወረዳ ፍርድ ቤት  መጋቢት 9 በዋለው የወንጀል ችሎት ተከሳሹ ወጣት የ6 ወር እስራት ፈርዶበታል። ይህን መረጃ በ @tikvahethMagazine ላይ የተመለከቱ የቲክቫህ ኢትዮጵያ ቤተሰብ አባላት " ቀልድ ነው ? ምን አይነት ፍርድ ነው ? ወንጀሉን ፍፁም የማይመጥን አሳዛኝ ፍርድ ነው " ብለውታል። @tikvahethiopia

#Ethiopia በረቂቅ የሽግግር ፍትህ ፖሊሲው ላይ 8 የሰብዓዊ መብት የሲቪክ ድርጅቶች አስተያየት አቅርበዋል። አስተያየት ያቀረቡት ፦ ➡ የመብቶች እና ዴሞክራሲ እድገት ማዕከል (CARD) ➡ የሕግ ባለሙያዎች ለሰብዓዊ መብቶች (LHR)፣ ➡ የኢትዮጵያ ሴቶች ማህበራት ቅንጅት (NEWA)፣ ➡ ሴታዊት ➡ የኢትዮጵያ ሠራተኞች መብት ተሟጋች (ELRW)፣ ➡ ስብስብ ለሰብዓዊ መብቶች በኢትዮጵያ (AHRE) ➡ ሁሉን አቀፍ ራዕይ ለዲሞክራሲያዊ ኢትዮጵያ (IVIDE) ➡ የኢትዮጵያ ሰብዓዊ መብት ተሟጋቾች ማዕከል (EHRDC) ናቸው። ካቀረቡት አስተያየት መካከል ፦ " የሽግግር ፍትህ ረቂቅ ፖሊሲው እስካሁን ለህዝብ ይፋ ባይደረግም፣ ባጭር ጊዜ ውስጥ በሚኒስትሮች ምክር ቤት እንደሚፀድቅ መረጃዎች በመውጣት ላይ ይገኛሉ። ነገር ግን ረቂቅ ፖሊሲውን በሚመለከት ከሲቪል ማህበረሰብ ድርጅቶች እና ለጋሾች ጋር ከተደረጉ አጫጭር ውይይቶች በስተቀር በቂ ውይይት አልተደረገም። ሰነዱ ይፋ ስላልሆነ ደርዝ ያለው አስተያየት ለመስጠትም ዕድል አልተገኘም። ረቂቅ የሽግግር ፍትህ ፖሊሲ ሰነዱ ለሚኒስትሮች ምክር ቤት ቀርቦ ከመፅደቁ በፊት ለህዝብ ይፋ ተደርጎ በባለድርሻ አካላት አስተያየት እንዲሰጥበት በአፅንኦት እንጠይቃለን። በዚህ ረገድ በሽግግር ፍትህ አማራጮች ላይ ሰፊ ውይይቶች መካሄዳቸውን በበጎ የምንወስደው ቢሆንም፣ በፖሊሲ ዝግጅቱ ወሳኝ ምዕራፍ ላይ እንደምንገኝ ከግምት ውስጥ በማስገባት፣ በረቂቅ የሽግግር ፍትህ ፖሊሲው ላይ በቂ እና ፍሬያማ ውይይት እንዲደረግ አስቀድሞ ረቂቅ የፖሊሲ ሰነዱ ለህዝብ ይፋ እንዲሆን እንጠይቃለን። ከሲቪል ማህበረሰብ ድርጅቶች በተጨማሪ ጉዳዩ በቀጥታ የሚመለከታቸው ፦ - የኢትዮጵያ ሰብዓዊ መብቶች ኮሚሽን፣ - የብሔራዊ ምክክር ኮሚሽን፣ - የእምባ ጠባቂ ተቋም፣ - የህዝብ ተወካዮች ምክር ቤት የህግና ፍትህ ጉዳዮች ቋሚ ኮሚቴ፣ - የመገናኛ ብዙሃን፣ - የከፍተኛ ትምህርት ተቋማት፣ - ምሁራን እና ሌሎችም ባለድርሻ አካላት ረቂቅ የሽግግር ፍትህ ፖሊሲ ሰነዱን በዝርዝር ተመልከተው ከመፅደቁ በፊት አስተያየታቸውን እንዲያቀርቡ ዕድል እና በቂ ጊዜ ሊሰጥ ይገባል። ይህን ማድረግም ለፖሊሲ ሰንዱ ጠቃሚ ግብዓት ከማስገኘት በተጨማሪ ፣ የሽግግር ፍትህ ፖሊሲው በህዝብ ዘንድ የተሻለ ተቀባይነት እና ተፈጻሚነት እንዲኖረው ለማድረግ ያግዛል ብለን እናምናለን። " (ሙሉ አስተያየታቸው ከላይ ተያይዟል) @tikvahethiopia

A two-day writeshop titled Input to Transitional Justice and Strategic Litigation Efforts was held on 6th and 7th March 2024, at Adore Addis Hotel. During the writeshop, participants shared their perspectives on the 2nd draft of the Transitional Justice Policy and proposed implementation. They discussed their hopes, concerns, and fears, and shared the journey of revealing the facts of women in conflict. Additionally, they discussed what defending defenders of human rights looks like, and why it is necessary. The participants also shared the intersectional experience of women in the Tigray conflict, and the nuanced concerns of women who faced Conflict Related Sexual and Gender Based Violence, especially when it comes to Transitional Justice.

Yesetoch Wulo Event:Revealing our truth and  Promoting  Solidarity for Transitional Justice Setaweet organized "Yesetoch Wulo", an all-women platform  held on 5, March 2024 at Urban Center. It convened mainly frontline responders supporting survivors of conflict-related sexual and gender-based violence (CRSGBV) from affected regions, alongside Women's Rights Advocates (WRAs). This gathering facilitated a space for women to share their experiences of violence within their communities and through open dialogue, the event surfaced both the commonalities and specific concerns women face regarding the upcoming transitional justice process. The discussions explored how cultural norms, and societal expectations impact women's lives especially in conflict contexts and the upcoming process of Transitional Justice. Participants openly addressed their hopes, fears, and concerns related to transitional justice, and they collectively identified areas requiring special focus.
