Pixel Philosophy: How Empires Die
Sir John Glubb, the British officer who commanded Jordan's Arab Legion, spent his final years studying something the lifespan of empires.
His finding? Great powers, from Assyria to Rome to Britain, tend to rise and fall on a strikingly consistent 250-year clock, moving through six stages:
Pioneers → Conquest → Commerce → Affluence → Intellect → Decadence
Empires don't usually die from external invasion first . They rot from within.
Rampant materialism, factional infighting, a fixation on entertainment and spectacle, and abandonment of duty and self-sacrifice all chip away at greatness.
Glubb's antidote is unglamorous: a return to service, discipline, and moral seriousness over comfort.

| 9 | The .me registry has blocked the t.me domain
Telegram users worldwide have encountered an outage: short t.me links have stopped opening in regular browsers. The problem affects users in the entire world.
At the same time, within the mobile and desktop Telegram clients themselves, clicks on links are processed correctly, and redirects work without any problems. As a temporary alternative for posting on external resources, you can use telegram.me links.
Technical details
At the moment, the exact causes of the incident remain unknown.
According to WHOIS data, the t.me domain has been completely removed from the DNS zone by the administration of the .me domain registry.
This status is set not by the registrar (GoDaddy), but directly by the main operator of the domain zone — the Montenegrin company doMEn d.o.o., which manages the entire .me zone. This organization is a joint venture of Identity Digital, GoDaddy, and ME-net.

| 12 | Pixel Philosophy: Complexity and Collapse
Joseph Tainter's classic The Collapse of Complex Societies asking a familiar question: why do powerful, sophisticated civilizations suddenly fall apart? What brought Rome, the Mayans, or the Hittites down?
Tainter says the usual answers don't hold up: resource depletion, catastrophe, invasion or internal revolt alone. None of them explain the pattern across cultures that had nothing else in common.
His thesis is colder and more interesting: societies build complexity (bureaucracy, hierarchy, specialization, and infrastructure) because complexity solves problems.
Every layer of administration or new institution was once some smart guy's answer to a real crisis.
Yet complexity comes with a cost.
Each new layer needs more resources to maintain than the last one did. That means paying more and more for less and less. At that point, simplification is rational.
For Tainter, collapse is a society cutting its losses. @DystopiaGOT | 326 |

| 18 | Why Fake News Wins:
1.) Bad actors and slop. You already know about this.
2.) Paywalls. Major outlets lock articles behind subscriptions, Most people only see the headline. And if you can't read the source, you can't check it.
3.) Screenshots prove nothing. Anyone can fake a convincing screenshot in under a minute.
4.) Articles change silently. News sites rewrite text and shift the framing of a story after publishing. There's no public edit history.
4.) The archives are under threat. Archivists and shadow libraries face constant copyright claims to block or remove content. @DystopiaGPT | 341 |
