Shaykh Majd al-Makki I shared this podcast with my Takhassus students. It is genuinely one of my favourite podcast episodes I have ever watched. A scholar who met scholars from so many different traditions; from sufis to salafis, he speaks of his relations with Shaykh ʿAbdullah Sirāj al-Dīn, Shaykh ʿAlī al-Ṭanṭāwī, Shaykh Muṣṭafā al-Zarqā’, Shaykh Yūsuf al-Qaraḍāwī, Shaykh ʿAbd al-Fattāḥ Abū Ghuddah, Shaykh ʿAbdul ʿAzīz bin Baz, Shaykh Ḥabīb al-Raḥmān al-Aʿẓamī, Shaykh Muḥammad ibn ʿAlawī al-Mālikī, Shaykh Abū Zahrah and others. He benefitted from them all while still maintaining his own position on what he felt to be correct. Accordingly, Shaykh Majd al-Makki neither remains colourless such that he remains fully on-the-fence but at the same time, he has the wusʿah al-ṣadr to benefit from scholars he disagrees with. A Brief Biography of Shaykh Husain Al-Arab - Our instructor for IK Online course on Umm al-Baraheen Husain Al-Arab holds a degree in Biochemistry, with a minor-equivalent concentration in History, and is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Philosophy and Religion. He is also studying at WISE University in Jordan, where he is completing a bachelor’s degree in Shāfiʿī Fiqh. Alongside his university studies, Husain has pursued an extensive traditional Islamic education with scholars from various parts of the Muslim world. His studies encompass Shāfiʿī jurisprudence, uṣūl al-fiqh, ʿaqīdah, ḥadīth, Arabic grammar, logic, and related Islamic sciences. Imam Muhammad ibn Yusuf al-Sanusi rahimahullah (d.895 AH)’s introductory primer into Aqeedah and Kalam is one of the most concise yet profound books that serves as an accessible introduction to Islamic theology. The Battle of Khandaq - The Du’a on Wednesday In Shawwal 5 AH, during the Battle of Khandaq (the battle of the trenches), the Muslims dug a trench to protect themselves from the invading tribes, particularly Quraysh and Banu Ghatafan who lived North-East of Madinah Munawwarah. When Quraysh, Banu Ghatafan and the other tribes arrived, they were shocked to see the trench. The siege lasted for a month and it was a month of intense fear for the Muslims. In a weak narration of Musnad Ahmad (hadith number: 14563), the Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam made Du'a on Wednesday after Zuhr for the assistance of Allah the Almighty and after a month, Allah the Almighty sent winds forcing Quraysh, Banu Ghatafan and the tribes to abandon the siege. Jabir RA says that no major issue occurs in his life except that he makes Du'a on Wednesday after Zuhr and he notices it being accepted. The place where the Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam made this Du'a on a Wednesday is today known as Masjid al-Fath. Just around it are 6 other Masajid where the Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam read Salah as the siege was going on. I show this in the video above.
