Al-Tafsir al-Ishaari In his Ma’ariful Qur’an 6:42, Maulānā Idrīs Kandehlawī raḥimahullah (d.1394 AH) shares an interesting spiritual reflection on the verse: ٱسْلُكْ يَدَكَ فِى جَيْبِكَ تَخْرُجْ بَيْضَآءَ مِنْ غَيْرِ سُوٓءٍۢ وَٱضْمُمْ إِلَيْكَ جَنَاحَكَ مِنَ ٱلرَّهْبِ ۖ فَذَٰنِكَ بُرْهَـٰنَانِ مِن رَّبِّكَ إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ وَمَلَإِي۟هِۦٓ ۚ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ قَوْمًۭا فَـٰسِقِينَ ٣٢ Now put your hand through ˹the opening of˺ your collar, it will come out ˹shining˺ white, unblemished. And cross your arms tightly to calm your fears. These are two proofs from your Lord to Pharaoh and his chiefs. They have truly been a rebellious people.” When Allah the Almighty speaks of the two miracles that He gave to Mūsā ʿalayh al-salām, He says that one miracle was the stick that when thrown to the ground would become a snake, the second miracle was that when he would place his hand near his chest and armpit, it would come out glowing. A person may wonder what type of a miracle is this? Ml Idrīs explains that the stick (عصا) may be a reference to sin (معصية) , i.e., Fir’awn is told that if you choose the path of sin (معصية), you will receive a punishment. On the other hand, if you decide to guide your heart to the truth, there is light for you. The miracles were also messages for Fir’awn. Indeed, Fir’awn chose the former and so the stick was used to split the sea and deliver a terrible punishment.

AI and my Ḥanafī Book A paragraph I've had to add in to the introduction of my book on the Ḥanafī madhhab. While some may feel this is not wise and that I should at least use some of these apps, I prefer the good old method of using either pdfs or hardcopies and finding quotes myself – the good old method. It's more fulfilling Alhamdulillah.
