I shared this podcast with my Takhassus students. It is genuinely one of my favourite podcast episodes I have ever watched. A scholar who met scholars from so many different traditions; from sufis to salafis, he speaks of his relations with Shaykh ʿAbdullah Sirāj al-Dīn, Shaykh ʿAlī al-Ṭanṭāwī, Shaykh Muṣṭafā al-Zarqā’, Shaykh Yūsuf al-Qaraḍāwī, Shaykh ʿAbd al-Fattāḥ Abū Ghuddah, Shaykh ʿAbdul ʿAzīz bin Baz, Shaykh Ḥabīb al-Raḥmān al-Aʿẓamī, Shaykh Muḥammad ibn ʿAlawī al-Mālikī, Shaykh Abū Zahrah and others.
He benefitted from them all while still maintaining his own position on what he felt to be correct. Accordingly, Shaykh Majd al-Makki neither remains colourless such that he remains fully on-the-fence but at the same time, he has the wusʿah al-ṣadr to benefit from scholars he disagrees with. Husain Al-Arab holds a degree in Biochemistry, with a minor-equivalent concentration in History, and is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Philosophy and Religion. He is also studying at WISE University in Jordan, where he is completing a bachelor’s degree in Shāfiʿī Fiqh.
Alongside his university studies, Husain has pursued an extensive traditional Islamic education with scholars from various parts of the Muslim world. His studies encompass Shāfiʿī jurisprudence, uṣūl al-fiqh, ʿaqīdah, ḥadīth, Arabic grammar, logic, and related Islamic sciences.
Among the texts he has studied with teachers are Sharḥ Ibn Qāsim, ʿUmdat al-Sālik, al-Muqaddimah al-Ḥaḍramiyyah, Yāqūt al-Nafīs, al-Mukhtaṣar al-Laṭīf, Fatḥ al-Muʿīn, Minhāj al-Ṭālibīn, Marāqī al-Falāḥ, Sharḥ al-Waraqāt, Lub al-Uṣūl, Nuzhat al-Naẓar, al-Muqīẓah, al-Akhdarī, al-Khurīdah al-Bahiyyah, Jawharat al-Tawḥīd, Umm al-Barāhīn, Sharḥ al-Taftāzānī ʿalā al-Nasafiyyah, al-Tuḥfah al-Saniyyah, Durūs al-Naḥwiyyah, portions of Sharḥ Qaṭr al-Nadā, Sharḥ Ibn ʿAqīl, Durūs al-Balāghah, Bulūgh al-Marām, al-Arbaʿūn al-Nawawiyyah, al-Shifāʾ of Qāḍī ʿIyāḍ, and other foundational works.
He has memorized a number of classical Islamic texts and portions of the Qurʾān, including Ṣafwat al-Zubad, portions of Naẓm al-ʿImrīṭī, the chapters on worship from Matn Abī Shujāʿ, Jawharat al-Tawḥīd, al-Khurīdah al-Bahiyyah, al-Raḥbiyyah, al-Bayqūniyyah, and portions of Alfiyyat Ibn Mālik.
His current studies include Fatḥ al-Wahhāb, Sharḥ Shudhūr al-Dhahab, Sharḥ al-Kubrā of al-Sanūsī, Ḥāshiyat al-ʿAqabawī on the commentary on al-ʿAqīdah al-Tawḥīdiyyah of al-Dardīr, Īḍāḥ al-Qawāʿid al-Fiqhiyyah, Sharḥ Mukhtaṣar al-Sanūsī fī al-Manṭiq, and al-Lumaʿ of Abū Isḥāq al-Shīrāzī, studying these works with qualified teachers.
His teachers in the traditional Islamic sciences include Shaykh Muḥammad Al-Arab, his mother, Shaykh Rami Junaid of Tripoli, Shaykh Nizar Mashaal of Syria, Shaykh Abdullah Rahhal of Damascus, Shaykh Mustafa Abdul Nabi of Egypt, Shaykh Abdul Rahman Mihrig, Shaykh Faridudin Dingle, Shaykh Umair Ahmed, Shaykh Hamza Maqbul, and Shaykh Muhammad Al-Saadany. | 1 809 |

Course Outline:
This is the ideal steppingstone into the study of Aqeedah and Kalam. Imam Muhammad ibn Yusuf al-Sanusi rahimahullah (d.895 AH)’s introductory primer into Aqeedah and Kalam is one of the most concise yet profound books that serves as an accessible introduction to Islamic theology.
The book develops key ideas within Ash’ari theology and draws on the works of Ash’ari theologians such as Al-Baqillani rahimahullah (d.403 AH), Al-Juwayni rahimahullah (d.478 AH), Fakhr al-Din al-Razi rahimahullah (d.606 AH) and others.
Over the course of this year-long study of the book, we’ll be covering the entire book in detail, exploring its arguments, terminology and even critique.
The lessons will be supplemented with detailed PowerPoints.

| 17 |  The Battle of Khandaq - The Du’a on Wednesday
In Shawwal 5 AH, during the Battle of Khandaq (the battle of the trenches), the Muslims dug a trench to protect themselves from the invading tribes, particularly Quraysh and Banu Ghatafan who lived North-East of Madinah Munawwarah.
When Quraysh, Banu Ghatafan and the other tribes arrived, they were shocked to see the trench. The siege lasted for a month and it was a month of intense fear for the Muslims.
In a weak narration of Musnad Ahmad (hadith number: 14563), the Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam made Du'a on Wednesday after Zuhr for the assistance of Allah the Almighty and after a month, Allah the Almighty sent winds forcing Quraysh, Banu Ghatafan and the tribes to abandon the siege.
Jabir RA says that no major issue occurs in his life except that he makes Du'a on Wednesday after Zuhr and he notices it being accepted. The place where the Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam made this Du'a on a Wednesday is today known as Masjid al-Fath. Just around it are 6 other Masajid where the Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam read Salah as the siege was going on. I show this in the video above.
