Dhikriyyat Afkaari by Shaykh Sharif Hatim Just got my hands on this incredibly fascinating book by Shaykh Sharif Hatim. It reads like an autobiography and is filled with pictures, scans and fawa'id. For example, in this section, he speaks about how his approach towards Shaykh Albani rahimahullah (d.1420 AH/1999 CE)'s discourse changed over time.

Structure of the House & Grave of the Prophet Sallallahu ‘Alayhi Wasallam There are 4 structures that are important when it comes to the grave of the Prophet sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam. The hujrah, ghurfah, sahwah and mashrubah. Hujrah is the courtyard before the actual house of A’ishah/Prophet sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam. Ghurfah is the actual house of A’ishah/Prophet sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam. Sahwah is the front part of the Ghurfah which is closer to the qiblah and the mashrubah is the upper floor of the ghurfah. You can see all 4 of these figures in the pictures below. The Prophet sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam is buried in the sahwah of his house, with his blessed head towards the Rawdah, his blessed face towards the qiblah and his blessed feet towards Al-Baqee. Imam al-Shafi’i’ rahimahullah (d.204 AH) in Al-Umm: أخبرني الثقات من أصحابنا أن قبر النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم على يمين الداخل من البيت Reliable companions have informed me that the grave of the Prophet sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam is on the right of entering his home. Of course, the door to the courtyard (hujrah) of the Prophet sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam is in line with the Ustuwanah al-Hirasah discussed before. What is interesting in the above video is to see the gap between the metal gates where the men give salam and where the actual house of the Prophet sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam begins. Where Banu Qurayzah Lived A friend asked to see where Banu Qurayzah lived. The Harrah Waaqim is actually at times referred to as Harrah Bani Qurayzah. The graphics above depict the Battle of Khandaq and how Quraysh (red) and Banu Ghatafan (black tent symbol) arrived to attack Madinah Munawwarah. Banu Qurayzah (purple men) were the enemies from within.

Ustuwanah Abi Lubabah and the Story Behind It In the 5th year of hijrah, the Battle of Khandaq took place. During the battle, the final Jewish tribe still residing within Madinah Munawwarah, Banu Qurayzah who lived near Harrah al-Waaqim (discussed in previous videos) attempted to betray the Prophet sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam and join the enemies. After the Battle of Khandaq was over, the Prophet sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam moved in on Banu Qurayzah and laid siege to their fortresses due to their breach of treaty. Abu Lubabah who was from the Was tribe had good relations with Banu Qurayzah and Banu Qurayzah requested a meeting with Abu Lubabah. Ibn Ishaq RA narrates how Banu Qurayzah (the Jewish tribe) asked Abu Lubabah what the Prophet sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam is planning to do with them. And so: وأشار بيده إلى حلقه إنه الذبح He indicated to his neck signifying that they will be slaughtered Immediately, Abu Lubabah states that he felt he had exposed the battle plan of the Prophet sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam and so he went to a pillar inside the Masjid and tied himself to it and said: لا أبرح مكاني هذا حتى يتوب الله علي مما صنعت I will stay in this spot until Allah the Almighty accepts my repentance for what I have done. When the Prophet sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam heard about what he had done, he was surprised and said, “If he had come to me and sought forgiveness, I would have forgiven him and Allah would have forgiven him too, but now that he has done this, I cannot say anything until Allah the Almighty decides on his matter." Of course, the Qur’an says: وَلَوْ أَنَّهُمْ إِذ ظَّلَمُوٓا۟ أَنفُسَهُمْ جَآءُوكَ فَٱسْتَغْفَرُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَٱسْتَغْفَرَ لَهُمُ ٱلرَّسُولُ لَوَجَدُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ تَوَّابًۭا رَّحِيمًۭا And if when they sin, they come to you and seek Allah’s forgiveness and the Messenger seeks forgiveness for them, they would find Allah All-Forgiving, All-Merciful However, Abu Lubabah RA was overcome with emotion and tied himself to this pillar. He remained there for almost 7 days, only untying himself to relieve himself and read salah. After approximately 7 days, the Prophet sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam received revelation that Abu Lubabah RA has been forgiven and so the Prophet sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam himself came and untied Abu Lubabah RA. This story is a story of respect and love for the Prophet and sincerity with Allah the Almighty. Finally, in the video, one can see the blessed house of A’ishah RA wherein one would first cross the courtyard (حجرة) and then enter the house (غرفة) wherein the Prophet sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam is buried. His blessed face is towards the qiblah, his blessed head is towards Rawdah/Riyad al-Jannah and his feet are towards Al-Baqee.

The 5 Famous Pillars of the Rawdah Besides Ustuwanah al-Hannanah which has already been discussed, there are 5 more famous pillars within the Rawdah that everyone should know about. I explain these pillars in this video. The first pillar discussed is Ustuwanah al-Sareer, Ustuwanah means pillar and Sareer means bed, this is because this was the spot where the Prophet sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam’s bed would be when he would perform I’tikaf in the Masjid. The second pillar shown is the Ustuwanah al-Hirasah which has been discussed in previous videos. This would be the entrance to the Prophet sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam’s house which begins with a courtyard. The Prophet sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam is buried within the courtyard of his home. It was at this entrance to the courtyard that various Sahabah would stand as bodyguard for the Prophet sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam. The third pillar shown is Ustuwanah al-Wufood. In the 8th year of hijrah, the Prophet sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam had conquered Makkah. Accordingly, the following year (9th year of hijrah) is known as the year of the wufood. Wufood means delegations and the reason is because in this year, various Arab tribes from all over the Arabian peninsula came to Madinah Munawwarah to accept Islam and to learn about Shari’ah. The Prophet sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam would meet them at this pillar. The fourth pillar is Ustuwanaha Abi Lubabah which is also known as Ustuwanah al-Tawbah. We have a dedicated video on this pillar as it’s connected to a famous incident in the Seerah. The fifth pillar shown is Ustuwanah A’ishah which is a specific spot where A’ishah RA states that the Prophet sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam would at times read salah. Note, in the second half of the video as I get closer to the pillars, I show Ustuwanah A’ishah first, then Ustuwanah Abi Lubabah, then Ustuwanah al-Sareer, then Ustuwanah al-Hirasah and then Ustuwanah al-Wufood.

Ustuwanah al-Hirasah/al-Haras When the Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam intially arrived in Madinah Munawwarah, it was a little tense as there was a fear that Quraysh may order an assassination from within Madinah Munawwarah as there were still some polytheists, hypocrites and Jews within Madinah Munawwarah. Accordingly, the Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam gently asked (Sahih al-Bukhari, hadith number: 2885): ليت رجلا صالحا من أصحابي يحرسني الليلة If only a pious person from my companions could stand on-guard for me at night? Various Sahabah would then volunteer including Ali RA, Sa'd Ibn Abi Waqqas RA and others. This was until Allah the Almighty revealed: والله يصمك من الناس Allah will protect you from the people [Surah al-Ma'idah, verse 67] The moment this was revealed, the Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam came out of his home and said (Jami' al-Tirmidhi, hadith number: 3046): يا أيها الناس انصرفوا فقد عصمني الله O' people, continue as you were for indeed Allah has protected me. Accordingly, the no one would now stand as guard of the Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam.

The Three VISIBLE Mihrabs of Al-Masjid al-Nabawi Not a lot of people are aware that there are three VISIBLE Mihrabs in Masjid al-Nabawi: 1. The Mihrab where the Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam would lead 2. The Mihrab Uthmani; Imams used to lead here for a long time until recently when they switched to leading from the Mihrab of the Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam 3. The Suleymani Mihrab; this was created by the Ottoman Sultan Suleyman the Magnificent/Al-Qanuni and it would be the place where the Hanafi Imam would lead the Salah during the Ottoman period
