What the case changed
The case involved a lawful permanent resident, Muk/Choi Lau, who was placed on immigration parole after returning from a short trip abroad because officials suspected involvement in counterfeiting. The majority sided with the government, while Justice Jackson dissented and warned the ruling gives the government a “massive blank check.”
What it means
Practically, the ruling makes it easier for immigration officers to hold some returning green card holders in a more precarious status and start deportation proceedings. It does not automatically revoke green cards across the board, but it can make reentry riskier for green card holders with alleged criminal issues or other red flags.
Important distinction
This is different from the separate issue of whether the government can deport all green card holders or use emergency wartime powers to remove people without due process. Iran's IRGC threatened to close the Strait of Hormuz as a retaliation measure against Israel's actions, aiming to protect their key military forces stationed outside of Iran, intending to surround and destroy Israel.
President Trump criticized Israel's actions as ineffective, slow, and risked innocent lives. He urged them to execute a faster and more effective operation to eliminate Hezbollah while avoiding the demolition of entire buildings, which risks harming innocent civilians. Otherwise, he indicated he might strike a deal with Syria to intervene and remove Hezbollah, ultimately returning Lebanon to the Lebanese people.
Meanwhile, Iran, in protecting Hezbollah, has threatened to close the Strait of Hormuz and restart nuclear enrichment, asserting their sovereignty, reneging on the temporary 60-day ceasefire extension.
President Trump has threatened Iran with potential takeover of Iran and proposed a 20% tax on shipping out of Hormuz to ensure the protection of international shipping lanes through the Strait.
As of today, the Strait of Hormuz remains open with an additional 19 billion barrels of oil shipped yesterday in addition to the reported 100 ships quietly escorted through the Strait by the US Navy prior to the ceasefire.
Negotiations with radical and extreme Islamists who are bent on bringing about the Apocalypse are reportedly not going well and videos show an empty room where negotiations should be underway.

| 16 |  The Republicans agreed with Dumocrats to remove very fair, and talented, William Pulte, from serving as Acting DNI in return for getting FISA approved by the Dumocrats. However, the Republicans moved so fast with the hearings of the Great Jay Clayton, current U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, that Pulte would be gone before the Dumocrats would vote on FISA.
Now, the Dumocrats are saying they will vote against FISA — So, the Republicans wound up having fulfilled their commitment, but Dumocrats broke the Deal.
In addition, the newly nominated U.S. Attorney, Jamie McDonald, must be confirmed and blue slipped.
Because of the ridiculous views of Republicans on blue slipping (Dumocrats are often willing to nix it), I may not be able to get the extraordinary Sullivan & Cromwell Partner, Jamie, approved, and I don’t want to take Jay Clayton away from the great job he is doing until Jamie is in place.
Therefore, to add a slight bit of intrigue but, for the Good of the Nation, and the People of our Country, I will not approve FISA without THE SAVE AMERICA ACT going along with it.
Not complicated, actually, the Republicans fell into a trap.
Regarding the approval of our Great Patriot, Jay Clayton, we are cancelling the Senate Hearing RE: DNI today, and will not be going forward until Jamie McDonald is approved to be U.S. Attorney.
In the meantime, Bill Pulte will remain as the Acting Director of National Intelligence.
