UNION ALERT! Outcome of the meeting with the Govt. Team led by Hon. Minister of Educ: 1. All Trs. who passed the 2025 aptitude test, will AUTOMATICALLY be placed 2. COMMUNIQUE ON THE MEETING BETWEEN TEACHER UNIONS AND THE HON. MINISTER FOR EDUCATION. Date: Monday, 31st August, 2026 A meeting was held between the leadership of the Teacher Unions and the Ministry of Education to deliberate on issues relating to the recent promotions of teachers. In attendance were: On the side of Government: The Hon. Minister for Education, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, the Deputy Minister, Hon. Dr. Clement Apaak, the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES), the Registrar of the National Teaching Council (NTC), the Director at the Ministry of Education and other Senior Government Officials. On the side of the Teacher Unions: Mr. Thomas Musah and his team (GNAT), Mr. Jacob Anaba and his team (NAGRAT) and Mr. King Ali Awudu and his team (PRETAG). At the end of deliberations, the following were resolved: 1.  That the effective date for the substantive appointment of all promoted teachers shall be January, 2026. 2.  That all promoted teachers shall be placed on their respective salary scales by September, 2026. In the event that some teachers are not placed by the end of September, 2026, a supplementary payroll will be raised to ensure that all affected teachers are duly placed on scale. 3.  That placement on scale shall be done automatically. Consequently, promoted teachers are not required to fill any forms or write any application letters for placement. Thank you. Issued by: The Communications Directorate of PRETAG.

UNION ALERT* *OUTCOME OF MEETING WITH THE MINISTER OF EDUCATION ON AUTOMATIC PLACEMENT OF TEACHERS WHO WERE SUCCESSFUL IN THE LAST PROMOTION* At a meeting with the Minister of Education on the the current issue of teacher automatic promotion placement the underlisted agreement has been reached: 1. The automatic placement will be done by September, 2026. 2. Arrears will start from January, 2026 for all those who sat for the aptitude test in December, 2025 and February, 2026. 3. With regards to the renewal of the expired Collective Agreement, the Minister of Education has agreed to engage the Minister of Finance to resolve the issue as soon as possible.
