Are there more advantages than disadvantages to this trend?
The modern trend in the world of work is described with how many more hours employees spend at their workplaces, resulting in little and little time at home. I believe this attitude brings more drawbacks to people’s lives.
Admittedly, there are certain benefits to allocating more time to work, with career advancement being the most desired one. Greater office hours mean that people can improve their skills and gather more experience over time, which might play an important role in achieving promotion and decent salary, as CEOs and managers pay much attention to these two factors while evaluating their employees. Once promoted, people are likely to have better job satisfaction and a chance to build a life free of financial worries not only for themselves but also for their family members thanks to increased income.
However convincing the professional growth might appear, I still argue that too long working time causes serious issues, including emotional burnout and poor family environment. Working overload is directly linked to constant job stress and skipping all out-of-work tasks, involving personal hobbies and relaxation, which causes emotional degradation and possible health issues connected to it. To further explain, because of poor work-life balance, a growing number of young people aged between 20-30 are being diagnosed with blood pressure and heartache- diseases which were once common only among the elderly.
Another concerning effect of working longer hours is related to family. Less time at home means a considerably reduction in interactions with children and parents, resulting in an unwanted emotional distance between them. This gap could lead to frequent disputes and misunderstandings among family members about previously easily handled topics and household matters such as family trips, Sunday picnics and children’s studies. Even more worrying consequences, such as mental isolation and childhood hatred towards family members might happen with children due to less bonding time with parents. Consequently, employees will reach a broken work-family balance and low life satisfaction. The End.
In conclusion, although spending more hours for work than family might bring professional advantages, I am more concerned about its negative implications for individuals’ health and family. | 537 |

Most young teachers, including me, have been trying different methods, lesson tools and ways of attracting new students to their groups through REPEATING and COPYING what other more experienced teachers have done.
The plan seems to be flawless, doesn't it ?
But, there is something to consider: Different times have different heroes and continuous success comes only when do you learn how to be flexible. An approach used by a successful teacher may not fit with your students or workplace even if you work at the same company.
So, it is better to learn, try and categorize which advices to follow rather than blindly following someone and feeling broken after failures about which the advice-givers never tell you about.
