All blessing and thanksgiving be to God, Who in His mercy giveth me this trust in thee. PRAYER to OUR LADY, Queen of the World
Thou art that only one in whom the Saviour found his rest, and with whom he has deposited all his treasures. Hence all the world, oh Mary, honors thy chaste womb, as the temple of God, where the salvation of the world had its beginning. In thee was effected the reconciliation between God and man. Thou art the enclosed garden, oh great mother of God, whose flowers have never been gathered by the sinners hand. Thou art the beautiful garden, in which God has placed all the flowers which adorn the Church, such as the violet of thy humility, the lily of thy purity, and the rose of thy charity. The day in which thou didst appear in the world may truly be called the day of salvation, the day of grace. The moon illuminates the night with the light which it receives from the sun, and thou dost illuminate our darkness, with the splendor of thy virtues; and thou art fairer than the moon, because in thee is found neither stain nor shade. August 24th~ Feast of St. Bartholomew, Apostle
The Redeemer chose all the apostles at once, and formed them from the beginning into a hierarchial group with St. Peter at their head, in order to show us that the rightful priesthood instituted by Christ is that which is derived in unbroken succession from the twelve apostles chosen by Our Savior, and being in communion with the See of Peter, is also in communion with the entire Catholic episcopate.
Bartholomew is said to have preached the faith over a great part of Asia and suffered martyrdom in Armenia, where he was flayed alive. His body was transferred many times, and is now believed to repose in the Church of St. Bartholomew on an island in the Tiber.

In the Gospel of St. John, Bartholomew is not mentioned among the Apostles, but it is stated that Philip and Nathanael came to Jesus, and that Jesus said of Nathanael, "the IsraeIite in whom was no guile." In the list of the apostles in the other Gospels, Nathanael is not mentioned, but after Philip is placed Bartholomew.

Mary's Heart is constantly mindful of us and the little things that concern us. Her Heart is so filled with kindness, meekness, mercy and genrosity that never has anyone been known to invoke this Mother of Goodness in humility and confidence without receiving comfort in her presence.
It is a Heart full of wisdom and enlightenment which possesses a perfect understanding of all our needs and of all that is most fitting for us to have. [151]. continued] There is no vice against which Jesus Christ has inveighed so much in His Gospel as against this one [Matt. vi, 7, 15, 21], condemning it with eight cries of “Woe unto you,” which are eight maledictions. And St. Gregory remarks that the hypocrites, blinded by pride and hardened in their sins, generally die impenitent without ever being enlightened, for a reason which is perhaps taken from St. Peter Chrysologus, because while we can see that the remedies to the amendment of other vices do good, the disease of hypocrisy is so pestilential that it affects the very remedies themselves, so that they only serve to foment and increase the evil. “Brethren,” says the Saint, “this pestilence must be avoided that turns remedies into diseases, medicines into maladies, holiness into vice, saintliness into sinfulness.”
