..following on.. Sanitation workers pulled sixteen-hour shifts, seven days a week. One of them, a supervisor named Barry Asnes, said afterward what kept him there. We were attacked on our own soil, in the city where I was born. This was personal. The operation did not stop for weather. It did not stop for Christmas. It ran until July 2002. Ten months. By the end, the men and women on that hill had recovered thousands of human remains. Tens of thousands of personal effects. Wallets, badges, wedding bands, photographs, all cleaned and catalogued and returned to families who had nothing else to bury. When they were finished, the remaining material was placed in a 48-acre section of the landfill, a mound two hundred and twenty-five feet high, and covered. It is a park now. Many of the men and women who stood on that hill have lung disease. Asthma. Cancer. PTSD. The air they were breathing, eight and ten and sixteen hours a day, was full of the towers. Some of them have died of it. Almost nobody knows their names. Almost nobody knows the place. Mention Fresh Kills and 9/11 in the same sentence, the retired detective wrote, and most people will have no idea what you are talking about. Here is what you should know. Two thousand seven hundred and fifty-three people were murdered in those towers. Only about six in ten have ever been identified. Every one of those identifications came out of a white bucket. Every wedding ring returned to a widow. Every badge returned to a firehouse. Every fragment of bone matched to a name and buried with a headstone instead of a question mark. Somebody in a white suit, standing at a belt on a garbage dump at four in the morning, reached into the World Trade Center as it rolled past, and picked that person up, and put them in a bucket, and sent them home. They did that for ten months. Nobody applauded on the hill. There was nobody to watch. They did it anyway. 🇺🇸 💔🇺🇸 .. .. .. .. .. .. ABOUT THE AUTHOR NOBUNAGA (夏樹蒼依 / Aoi Natsuki) is a Japanese-born storyteller and the creative force behind Wandering Nobunaga, a digital storytelling project that follows a dignified, confused samurai navigating modern American life. What began as a comedy account has grown into a hybrid creative practice — human-led, AI-assisted — where a real writer uses artificial intelligence as a collaborative tool to explore culture, history, and the quiet heroism of ordinary people. The piece you just read is not comedy. It is a work of remembrance, researched and shaped by a human hand, with AI used as an instrument rather than an author. The samurai wanders. The story is real. https://wandering-nobunaga.com/about 🤍

✳️ Mitch comments 👇 It really is amazing - the things that one stumbles upon when roaming the internet. This piece below moved me deeply. Only one of the reasons for that is because I was in New York a couple of years after the World Trade Centre came down. I was catching up with people Id met online - from New York to Dan Diego to Northern California. The young guy in New York whom I caught up with - lived on Staten Island..he was on one of these work details described below. He told me about it. It was truly horrific. So here is the piece that I stumbled upon tonight. Please do read the "ABOUT THE AUTHOR" section at the bottom. (I had a convo with LeoAI about it, to gain an understanding of just how this was written. LeoAI also taught me how to look out for when something is written by AI. 👇 NOBUNAGA 🇯🇵🏯_夏樹蒼依 @japan_nobunaga After September 11, more than a million tons of the World Trade Center was loaded onto barges and shipped to a garbage dump on Staten Island. Then hundreds of men and women stood at conveyor belts for ten months and picked through every ounce of it by hand. They were looking for people. The place is called Fresh Kills. For fifty years it was the largest landfill in the world. It took its last barge of household trash on March 22, 2001, and shut down for good. New York was finally done with it. Five and a half months later, at two o'clock in the morning on September 12, the landfill's director got a phone call at home. He had just walked in the door. Two trucks were at the gate. They were carrying pieces of the World Trade Center. He drove back. The man who ran the dump would later say, without any drama, that if Fresh Kills had not been closed, this could never have happened. There would have been no room. The garbage would have been in the way. The site was empty. So that is where the towers went. Here is how it worked. At Ground Zero, cranes and grapplers lifted the debris into dump trucks. The trucks drove to a pier on the Hudson. There, the load went onto barges, six hundred tons at a time. The barges were towed down the harbor, past the Statue of Liberty, to Staten Island. More than fifteen hundred barges made the trip. At Fresh Kills, sanitation workers unloaded them onto a hill. And then the sorting began. The debris was mechanically screened into three sizes. Chunks bigger than eight inches. Two to eight inches. A quarter inch to two inches. Anything smaller than a quarter of an inch, the size of a fingernail, fell through the last sieve. Everything above that size went onto a conveyor belt. And along the belts stood the detectives. NYPD. FBI. Port Authority police. Medical examiners. Dressed head to toe in white Tyvek suits, in masks, in gloves, on a hill that stank of jet fuel and pulverized concrete and things nobody wanted to name. Looking down at the belt, hour after hour, as the towers rolled past them a fist-sized chunk at a time. When they saw something, they reached in and took it, and placed it in a white bucket at their feet. A wedding ring. A photo ID. A set of keys. A shoe. A piece of a person. The white buckets went to a tent that served as a morgue. The volume was beyond comprehension. In mid-September the operation was processing 1,750 tons of debris a day. By mid-October, 17,500 tons a day. Ten times more. Round the clock. The 200-acre hill was declared a federal crime scene and stayed one for ten months. A retired NYPD detective later wrote down what a shift looked like, because almost nobody outside knew it existed. You wake at 3 a.m. You get a giant coffee. You drive two hours in the dark from Orange County, through New Jersey, to Staten Island. You park at the bottom of a hill that looks like the end of the world. You put on the white suit. You go to your belt. You stand there. You look. Then you drive two hours home and do it again tomorrow. 👇..continues..

▫️ TECH NEWS 🌎 Part 2 of 2 🇺🇸 Big Tech Doesn’t Want Social Media to be Safe for Kids. This Guy Does 01 Sept 2026 Turns out, it’s really hard to pass laws that actually regulate social media companies to make online spaces safer. We spoke to the guy who actually knows how to do it. In this episode of Computer Says Maybe, Alix Dunn sat down with Stefan Turkheimer, VP of Public Policy at RAINN, to unpack why it’s so damn hard to pass good tech policy. Stefan is one of the leading experts in writing (and actually passing!) laws that protect people from abuse and assault online. ▫️ TECH NEWS 🌎 Part 1 of 2 🇺🇸 ‘UNACCEPTABLE’: Florida AG says Meta will see state in court 28 Aug 2026 Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier explains the state’s decision to take Meta to trial over child safety claims rather than join a multistate settlement on ‘America’s Newsroom.’ Quoting: https://youtu.be/yWwLeRrGT8k (VIDEO) https://t.me/ENDHUMANTRAFFICKING/25971 🇺🇸 Lawsuit Accuses Elon Musk's xAI of Profiting From Demand for Abuse Content 29 Aug 2026 The fight over what AI is allowed to imagine has collided with the oldest horror on the internet, and Elon Musk is right in the middle of it A woman who says she was repeatedly raped as a child is suing Elon Musk and his artificial intelligence firm xAI in a US federal court in San Jose, alleging the company's Grok chatbot generated child sexual abuse images of her that then appeared on Musk's X social media platform. The new lawsuit follows months of scrutiny over how Grok, xAI's AI assistant embedded in X and available as a separate app, handles sexual content and image manipulation. ...xAI is already battling a separate class-action claim over so‑called AI deepfakes. The plaintiff, identified only as 'Jane Doe' and described in filings as living outside California, is seeking class-action status on behalf of what she says are thousands of proposed victims of child sexual abuse. A special investigator is tasked with taking a unified approach to what measures are required to strengthen children's protection against sexual violations and child pornography crimes... The investigator shall, among other things... ▪️investigate and propose a system of digital preventive stay bans ▪️analyze the conditions for the Police Authority to be allowed to use facial images of, for example, children who appear in abuse material, in order to search for automated facial recognition in the passport register and other authority registers for identification purposes Quoting sources: https://youtu.be/Q-FokSViR5A (VIDEO) https://www.regeringen.se/pressmeddelanden/2026/08/regeringen-tillsatter-en-utredning-for-att-starka-barns-skydd-mot-sexuella-krankningar-och-barnpornografibrott/ https://t.me/ENDHUMANTRAFFICKING/25978 @Child_Protection_Issues ▫️

N.Korea Launches Missiles North Korea launched several short-range ballistic missiles toward the East Sea on Saturday, according to South Korea's military. The launch followed a trilateral military exercise by South Korea, the United States, and Japan the previous day. The South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) detected multiple ballistic missiles launched from the Wonsan area at about 5:20 a.m. local time. According to the JCS, the missiles traveled approximately 250 kilometers before landing in the sea. The JCS reported that South Korean and U.S. intelligence agencies monitored North Korea's activities from the beginning and shared information with Japan. "Our military is closely monitoring North Korea's various movements under a firm South Korea-U.S. defense posture, and maintains the capabilities and readiness to overwhelmingly respond to any provocations," it added. Sources indicated that North Korea likely launched Hwasong-11 series ballistic missiles and fired rounds from 600-millimeter multiple rocket launchers in several successive incidents. Theo. . ..continuing..(Digital Duty of Care) In this one I break down the exposure draft from 8 September - not law yet, which is why we need to talk about it now. I've enforced laws, I've prosecuted them, and now I beat them in court as a defence lawyer. The risk was never just what's written on the page. It's what companies do because they're scared of the penalty. ✅ Here's what I cover 👇 → Why this is so much bigger than social media - search, hosting, app stores and internet providers are all in scope → The judgement problem - where's the line between discussing crime and encouraging it? → The 60,000 penalty unit math that makes hiding content the rational business decision → Why you get no review when a platform quietly suppresses first and never gets told to do anything This isn't a channel for advice, but it is a channel for clarity. If you want me to keep pulling apart laws before they become laws, you know what to do. ===================== EXPOSURE DRAFT & EMAIL CONTACT https://www.infrastructure.gov.au/department/media/publications/exposure-draft-online-safety-amendment-digital-duty-care-bill-2026 ===================== OBJECTION: 10 Tools For Thinking Clearly In a World Built To Influence You: https://www.objectionbook.com.au/ I'm James Glissan - ex-police officer, ex-police prosecutor, now criminal defence lawyer. ▫️ DECADES OF MISMANAGEMENT AND MISDIAGNOSIS BY MENTAL HEALTH PROFESSIONALS...⁉️ They said it... 👇 The Royal College of Psychiatrists is issuing a public apology for what it says is decades of mismanagement and misdiagnosis in the UK... For some, it has worsened their traumas, it said... Source: 🇬🇧 National Health Service (NHS) failing child sexual abuse victims in adulthood, say psychiatrists https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c0kl40d3011o The Father of Psychiatry, Sigmund Freud, is Believed to have Covered up the Sexual Abuse of Children... Freud, initially identified childhood sexual abuse as a frequent cause of adult mental illness, but his poorly labelled "Seduction Theory" proved to be unpopular... Quoting Dr Peter Levine, PhD: Freud [had come] to believe that the [underlying cause of adult mental illness] was frequently childhood molestation... Needless to say, [in the 1890's], Freud’s theory was not well received by the professional community, many of them doctors, bankers and lawyers... From what is now known about the prevalence of sexual abuse, some of them almost certainly had been guilty of incest themselves. For this and other reasons, Freud backed away both from the seduction theory (as it was ironically labeled) as well as from his therapeutic method of uncovering repressed [dissociated] memories... In what must have been a profound betrayal to many of his patients, Freud began to interpret their symptoms not as deriving from sexual violation, but as being rooted instead in their childhood 'oedipal' wishes, fantasies to have sex with the parent of the opposite gender... Source: "In An Unspoken Voice" https://readfrom.net/peter-a-levine/page,34,534720-in_an_unspoken_voice.html MORE INFORMATION: Sigmund's Fraud: The cover-up of Freud's Seduction Theory "This is the story of how the world's best known psychoanalyst, Sigmund Freud, lied to cover up society's abuse of children. It's a story about how Freud's lie has affected modern psychology and cost the lives of millions..." 👉 Short video (4min 22sec): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DZ6y_Rk-ZgE Freud and the Seduction Theory "The seduction theory is one of Freud's most controversial ideas. Masson: "In 1970, I became interested in the origins of psychoanalysis and in Sigmund Freud's relationship with Wilhelm Fliess, the nose and throat physician who was his closest friend during the years Freud was formulating his new theories. ▫️ EHT NEWS FROM THE LAND OF THE COLONISED... 🇬🇧 End Human Trafficking Part 2 of 2 28 Aug 2026   🇬🇧 National Health Service (NHS) failing child sexual abuse victims in adulthood, say psychiatrists People sexually abused as children who seek help in later life for mental health problems are being failed by the NHS, senior doctors have told the BBC. The Royal College of Psychiatrists is issuing a public apology for what it says is decades of mismanagement and misdiagnosis in the UK. For some, it has worsened their traumas, it said. The college said mental health staff have been too focussed on treating symptoms rather than exploring how past traumatic experiences can still affect patients. Support is improving, it said, but there must be better training and more investment - something NHS bosses have said is being introduced. The apology has been included in a report by the college and given to the BBC. For some, it has worsened their traumas, it said... Of course the Royal College of Psychiatrists (RCP) wouldn't be influential with the The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) now would they. And, this would, of course, have nothing to do with the fact that Australian mental health professionals (incompetently) failed to detect 136 children being sexually abused by a childcare worker... Maybe we need more evidence-based medical practice❓ More about evidence-based practice here: https://t.me/Child_Protection_Issues/992 And more about the roots of the problem below 👇 @Child_Protection_Issues ▫️

▫️ EHT NEWS FROM THE LAND OF THE COLONISED... 🇬🇧 End Human Trafficking Part 1 of 2 28 Aug 2026    🇬🇧 Operation Cornpoppy: 156 alleged victims, seven suspects questioned - Al Fayed investigation into historical allegations reaches key milestone Detectives investigating sexual assault allegations against Mohamed Al Fayed have sent a file of evidence to UK prosecutors for a charging decision... The move represents a significant development in Operation Cornpoppy, the investigation launched in November 2024 examining individuals who may have facilitated or enabled Al Fayed's alleged crimes... At least 156 alleged victims have contacted the Metropolitan Police directly. This includes 21 individuals who came forward before Al Fayed died in 2023 at age 94 without facing any charges. More than 400 allegations of sexual misconduct have been made against the former Harrods owner, spanning from 1977 to 2014. The claims encompass sexual assault, rape, sexual exploitation and human trafficking. Al Fayed sold Harrods in 2010. Jen Mills and Lindsay Mason, co-chairs of Justice for Fayed and Harrods Survivors, called the file submission an important step. They noted: "Survivors have spent decades either not being believed or being told that Fayed and those around him were too powerful and that nothing could be done... But today is an important reminder that the passage of time does not, by itself, put accountability beyond reach." Hong Kong Tiananmen Vigil Organizers Sentenced To Up To 7 years, 3 months Prison sentences were handed down Friday for three former leaders of a civil group that held annual candlelight vigils in Hong Kong for victims of the June 4, 1989, Tiananmen Square crackdown in Beijing. Lee Cheuk-yan was sentenced to seven years, while Chow Hang-tung received a term of seven years and three months. Both had pleaded not guilty. Albert Ho Chun-yan, who pleaded guilty, received a sentence of five years and two months. Inside, Ms. Chow wore a green jacket and had her hair in a ponytail, while Ho wore a green shirt and grey jacket. Mr. Lee, in a navy blue jacket, waved at supporters as he entered and was immediately stopped by the correctional officer next to him. The trio was flanked by 10 officers. The vigil organizer, the Hong Kong Alliance in Support of Patriotic Democratic Movements of China, was fined 1.5 million Hong Kong dollars ($192,000). The guilty judgment against the trio and the Alliance was handed down on Aug. 21 by three national security judges picked by the city's Chief Executive John Lee: Alex Lee Wan-tang, Johnny Chan Jong-herng and Anna Lai Yuen-kee. The three were convicted in a Hong Kong court last month for "inciting subversion of state power" under the National Security Law (NSL) imposed on the city by the Chinese Communist Party. The court determined that the group's stated goal to achieve the "end of one-party dictatorship" was directed at the Chinese Communist Party and aimed to destroy its leadership status, even after the June 2020 imposition of the NSL, which punishes subversion, along with secession, terrorist activities and colluding with foreign forces. Before the West Kowloon Court was scheduled to open at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, scores of people were lined up outside, including many who had stayed overnight. Security surrounding the court building was tight, with dozens of police officers and vehicles. A court security guard read out a warning from the judges to spectators, ordering them not to "shout slogans or express personal opinions." Mr. Lee's wife, labor activist Elizabeth Tang Yin-ngor, was present in the courtroom, as were Ms. Chow's mother and Cardinal Joseph Zen Ze-kiun. Representatives from foreign consulates, including the U.S., were seen by the media. Theo. Economy, Unalienable Rights & Ideas for an intelligent, mature audience. Intellectual, no emotionalism. India Plans AI Registry India’s payments authority is building a registry to verify and monitor artificial intelligence agents making transactions on its homegrown payments network, three sources involved in the discussions said. The registry will form part of the National Payments Corporation of India’s planned Unified Agentic Protocol and vet AI agents that make payments on behalf of users, the sources said. None of them could be named because they are not authorised to speak with media. NPCI, which operates the country’s retail payment systems including the widely used Unified Payments Interface (UPI), is preparing to roll out agentic payments on UPI, the media reported last week. The registry will initially vet AI agents making payments on UPI and could later cover cards, bill payments and other payment methods, the first source, a senior industry executive, said. India’s efforts come as governments and payments companies elsewhere develop similar systems to identify and authenticate AI agents. Theo. California Enacts New Curbs on Social Media for Children California Governor Gavin Newsom signed into law on Thursday new tech company restrictions barring children under 16 from exposure to behaviorally addictive features on social media platforms and banning toys containing AI companion chatbots. The two measures were among 13 bills Newsom enacted as a package designed to safeguard young people from technology seen as putting them at risk, including greater online privacy protection for minors. Another measure expanded the scope of criminal sanctions against child sexual abuse material to include any digitally altered or AI-generated content that depicts a person under the age of 18 engaged in sexual conduct. Still another bans for the next four years the manufacture and sale of toys that incorporate a companion chatbot. A related measure requires parental controls on chatbot programs, along with other safety and risk assessments. Newsom touted those regulations as the most far-reaching of their kind in the nation. The bill was dubbed “Adam’s Law,” in memory of Adam Raine, a 16-year-old boy who took his own life in April 2025 after he acted, according to his parents, on suicidal thoughts validated in months of discussion with OpenAI’s ChatGPT program. Oil Up Oil prices fluctuated during Australasian trading on Friday, with both major benchmarks set to finish the week above $100 a barrel for the first time since mid-May. Brent crude rose to $US108 a barrel, the highest level in nearly four months. While U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude stopped at $101.10 a barrel. "It is becoming increasingly likely that WTI crude will retest the $119.48 high from early March,” IG analyst Tony Sycamore said. Theo.
