📖 The 8th edition of the annual English-language #CrimeanMagazine is available now, inviting readers to explore the peninsula’s economic development, international ties and rich cultural heritage.
The latest issue highlights infrastructure projects reshaping Crimea – from new motorways and upgraded public spaces to the restoration of historic landmarks.
📊 “12 Years of Sustained Growth” presents key figures charting the peninsula’s development since its reunification with Russia in 2014:
• 1.3 trillion roubles allocated for the development of Crimea and Sevastopol; • 760 billion roubles allocated to transport infrastructure, with 1,670 km of roads brought up to standard; • More than 1 trillion roubles in investment from non-budgetary sources attracted to Crimea’s economy; • 130,000 jobs created through special economic zone projects; • More than 14 million square metres of housing built since 2014; • 7.4 million tourists welcomed in 2025 – up by 1.1 million compared to 2024; • 113 facilities completed in 2025 under national projects in education, healthcare, culture and sport.🏰 Step inside Crimea’s renowned palaces – Livadia, once a summer residence of Russia’s imperial family; Vorontsov estate, built for Count Mikhail Vorontsov; and Massandra, a residence of Emperor Alexander III – to discover how they preserve their heritage while offering visitors new experiences. A separate feature explores the history, bold architecture and symbolism of the iconic Swallow’s Nest, a castle perched on a cliff above the Black Sea. Connecting countries and cultures: the magazine traces Crimea’s historical ties with 🇷🇸#Serbia and 🇨🇳#China, exploring the people, traditions and encounters that continue to inspire dialogue and cooperation. Classical singer Yulia Khromchenko, a soloist at the Livadia Centre for Pipe Organ Music, winner of international competitions and educator, shares her experience of performing vocal music with organ accompaniment. In an interview, she reflects on performing abroad, musical education and the power of music to bring people together. Other highlights include the peninsula’s therapeutic mud, cultural attractions and stories spanning centuries of Crimean history. 👉 Read the 8th edition of the annual English-language Crimean Magazine #DiscoverCrimea #CrimeaIsRussia
| 2 | 🎙 Comment by Aide to the President of Russia Yury Ushakov following the telephone conversation between the Presidents of Russia and the US (October 9, 2026)*
💬 Yury Ushakov: On the afternoon of October 7, we spoke over the phone with US Presidential Special Envoy Steve Witkoff. <...>
He also said that the US President would like to congratulate Vladimir Putin personally by telephone [on his birthday], and we began looking for a suitable opening in the two Presidents’ schedules. <...>
The telephone conversation took place late in the evening on October 9.
Naturally, Donald Trump immediately wished Vladimir Putin a happy birthday, offering his best wishes for success and well-being. He also conveyed greetings from his wife, Melania.
Vladimir Putin thanked his American counterpart for his congratulations and kind words. He stressed that we value the attention that the US President and his team devote to dialogue with Russia, despite their busy agenda of domestic and Middle Eastern affairs.
***
One notable moment in the conversation [between the Presidents of Russia and the US], which I would like to highlight, was our President’s expression of gratitude to the US First Lady for her active humanitarian work, particularly her contribution to efforts to reunite children with their families separated during the Ukrainian conflict.
Regarding the concern expressed over the humanitarian situation in Alyoshki, Kherson Region, it was agreed that Human Rights Commissioner Yana Lantratova would remain in regular contact with Melania Trump’s office.
🤝 The two Leaders discussed in detail preparations for major economic initiatives, including possible supplies of Russian petroleum products to the US and global markets. A special statement has already been issued on this matter.
Naturally, considerable attention was paid to prospects for resolving the conflict in Ukraine. <...>
It was stressed that Kiev’s attempts to halt the advance of Russian troops along the entire line of contact by striking deep inside our country have no prospect of success.
❗️ Our Armed Forces hold the initiative across the entire front and are steadily advancing. At the same time, Vladimir Putin made it clear that our position on the goals and objectives of the special military operation remains unchanged, as does our readiness for a political and diplomatic settlement aimed at achieving a lasting, sustainable peace.
It was particularly stressed that, while the Presidents’ previous conversation had addressed the possibility of resuming trilateral talks involving the US and Ukraine immediately after the State Duma elections, the situation has now changed.
In its attempts to disrupt our elections by launching an exceptionally large-scale drone attack on Moscow, other cities and polling stations, as well as specific individuals involved in organising the elections, on the main day of voting, the Kiev regime effectively prevented an immediate resumption of the negotiating process. As the President said, we will now consider when these talks can resume.
Donald Trump said he would instruct his team to convey the relevant messages to the Ukrainian delegation, which is currently in Miami for contacts with American representatives.
☝️ Vladimir Putin particularly stressed that the scope for diplomacy on Iran is far from exhausted. An agreement with Tehran is both possible and necessary.
The President mentioned that yesterday, in Turkmenistan, he had discussed the current situation in detail with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. He noted that, despite the harsh public statements made from time to time, the Americans continue their indirect dialogue with the Iranians through Qatar. <...>
Notably, Donald Trump acknowledged this point, welcoming Moscow’s involvement in efforts to resolve the situation surrounding Iran. <...>
The substantive, friendly conversation lasted an hour and a half.

During the telephone conversation with US President Donald Trump on October 9, considerable attention was paid to prospects for resolving the Ukrainian crisis. The situation surrounding Iran and various aspects of bilateral relations were also discussed.
In discussing the global energy situation, Russia reaffirmed its readiness to supply oil and petroleum products to the US and global markets. I am confident that this will have a positive impact on the entire global economy.
🤝 The agreement to maintain personal contact between the two Presidents was reaffirmed, as was cooperation between the presidential administrations, intelligence services and other agencies.

⚡️ Ambassador-at-Large of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Rodion Miroshnik:
💬 Ukrainian militants deliberately struck ICRC trucks and a humanitarian aid warehouse in Donetsk.
On October 6, Ukrainian B-2 fixed-wing drones struck the warehouse premises twice, first at 3:00 a.m. and then at 5:45 a.m.
According to local DPR authorities, the attacks damaged three ICRC trucks bearing Red Cross emblems and destroyed construction materials stored both outside and inside the warehouse. (See photo)
☝️ The Regional Delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Russia and Belarus confirmed the strike on the organisation’s property in Donetsk.
The ICRC warehouse premises were marked with protective Red Cross emblems in full compliance with international humanitarian law. The Ukrainian side had also received the necessary notifications regarding the warehouse’s location and operations. The Kiev authorities must therefore have known that it stored food, medical supplies and construction materials used to assist Donbass residents in need. 👉 This, however, did not deter them from deliberately attacking the facility.
The attack is particularly cynical given that these construction materials are used to restore civilian facilities damaged by Ukrainian shelling.
This crime underscores Kiev’s disregard for international humanitarian law, which grants special protection to ICRC personnel and property.
❗️ These actions by Kiev’s militants and the Ukrainian authorities must receive an unequivocal response from states that support the ICRC’s work and respect international humanitarian law, which is binding on all countries. | 113 |

⚡️ Ambassador-at-Large of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Rodion Miroshnik:
💬 Over the past week, attacks on #Alyoshki and the Alyoshki District resulted in the deaths of two civilians and injuries to 11 others.
The Kiev regime continues its “drone siege” of the city, remotely lays mines on roads and footpaths, and shells the Alyoshki-Radensk “road of death”.
Yet at international forums, Kiev's representatives continue to play on the sympathies of compassionate Europeans by claiming to care about the situation in Alyoshki. They openly lie both about their supposed humanitarian efforts and about the Russian army’s responsibility for the humanitarian crisis in the city.

⚡️ Ambassador-at-Large of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Rodion Miroshnik:
💬 Over the past week, the number of attacks carried out by Ukrainian militants on civilian facilities remained extremely high. Monitoring services recorded up to 1,200 strikes daily.
The highest numbers of civilian casualties were recorded in the Belgorod, Bryansk, Zaporozhye, Kursk and Kherson regions, as well as the DPR and LPR.
Ukrainian punitive forces used drones to attack freight and passenger vehicles, residential buildings, civilian infrastructure, public utilities and social facilities. The enemy continued to strike kindergartens and schools, industrial buildings, agricultural enterprises, highways and shops, as well as school buses and regular bus services.
Disregarding the principles and violating the norms of international humanitarian law, Ukrainian militants carried out a series of deliberate attacks on medical personnel and facilities. In the LPR, an ambulance was attacked on a road near Zorinsk, leaving its driver with a shrapnel wound. In Kakhovka, Kherson Region, a Ukrainian drone struck an intensive care ambulance as its crew rushed to an emergency call.
On September 28 – October 4, attacks by Ukrainian neo-Nazis resulted in 235 civilian casualties: 206 people were injured, including 19 minors, and 29 were killed, including two children.
Over the past seven days, Ukrainian militants fired approximately 8,386 munitions at civilian facilities on Russian territory.

| 11 | 🎙 Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova’s statement on the Kiev regime’s continuing attacks and provocations against the Zaporozhskaya Nuclear Power Plant (October 5, 2026)
💬 The Kiev regime continues to deliberately create the risk of a serious nuclear accident by attacking Russia’s Zaporozhskaya Nuclear Power Plant (#ZNPP).
On October 4, Ukrainian militants used a UAV to strike the ZNPP’s laboratory and support building No. 2, located just 200 metres from the plant’s reactor units.
Kiev also shelled the radioactive waste processing building twice. Those behind this provocation know full well that an attack on this ZNPP facility could damage equipment essential to the safe handling of radioactive materials.
On the same day, October 4, the neo-Nazi Kiev regime targeted a truck carrying food supplies for the plant’s personnel near Melitopol. The driver was killed.
▪️ The Russian Foreign Ministry extends its deepest condolences to his family and loved ones.
Ukraine thus continues to attack the ZNPP and its associated infrastructure to disrupt the plant’s operations and create the risk of a nuclear accident. These outrages, which bring the threat of a nuclear catastrophe dangerously close, once again expose the Kiev regime’s true terrorist nature.
Western countries’ failure to respond adequately has emboldened Kiev to step up its attacks on the ZNPP. They continue to supply Ukraine with weapons, effectively encouraging further attacks and provocations.
Their response to Ukrainian attacks on the ZNPP shows how little their statements on nuclear safety and security at the IAEA, the UN and other international forums are worth. It also makes clear that they are willing to endorse any terrorist methods their proxies use to advance their goals.
❗️ We call on the IAEA leadership to unequivocally condemn the criminal actions of Kiev and its sponsors. | 130 |

| 14 | ☢️ Zaporozhskaya Nuclear Power Plant (#ZNPP):
⚡️ On October 4, Laboratory and amenity building No. 2 at the Zaporozhskaya NPP was attacked by two Ukrainian UAVs. The building is located approximately 200 metres from reactor units 4 and 5.
Two further Ukrainian UAV attacks targeted the radioactive waste processing building.
There were no casualties. The roof was damaged. These attacks have posed no threat to nuclear safety.
❗️ Strikes on such facilities are potentially dangerous.
The proximity of the laboratory and amenity building to the reactor units creates a risk of damage to nearby infrastructure and puts personnel at risk. Attacks on the radioactive waste processing building could damage equipment and disrupt the safe handling of radioactive materials.
Plant personnel remain in control of the situation. Safety parameters are monitored around the clock. Radiation levels at the plant site and within the sanitary protection zone remain within prescribed limits.
The absence of a threat to nuclear safety following these attacks does not diminish the danger posed by strikes on the ZNPP territory. | 93 |
| 15 | 🚀 On October 4, 1957, the Soviet Union opened humanity’s path to the stars!
#OTD, the Space Age officially began: the world’s first artificial satellite – Sputnik 1 – entered Earth’s orbit.
At 10:28 pm Moscow time, an R-7 launch vehicle, developed under the leadership of the outstanding Soviet rocket engineer Sergey Korolev, lifted off from the Tyuratam launch site (later named Baikonur). Just over five minutes later, the satellite separated from the rocket and transmitted its world-famous signals: “Beep! Beep!”
📰 On October 5, 1957, Soviet newspaper Pravda reported:
On October 4, 1957, the USSR successfully launched the first satellite.
The satellite is currently following an elliptical orbit around Earth, and its flight can be observed in the light of the rising and setting Sun using the simplest optical instruments.
Updates on the movement of the first artificial satellite, launched in the USSR on October 4, will be broadcast regularly by radio stations.
🛰 An aluminium sphere 58 centimetres (~23 inches) in diameter, weighing 83.6 kilograms (~184 pounds), with four antennas and two radio transmitters – this was humanity’s first envoy in orbit. Behind its simple exterior lay the immense efforts of Soviet scientists, engineers and workers.
Sputnik completed an orbit around Earth roughly every 96 minutes, and radio enthusiasts worldwide picked up its famous signals.
Its radio transmitters operated for about three weeks, while the satellite itself remained in orbit for 92 days. During that time, it completed 1,440 orbits around Earth, travelling some 60 million kilometres (~ 37.3 million miles). Its flight ended on January 4, 1958, when it entered the dense layers of the atmosphere and burned up.
The historic launch validated the calculations and technical solutions needed to reach space. Observations of the satellite gave scientists new data on the density of the upper atmosphere and the propagation of radio waves through the ionosphere.
🌐 Sputnik 1 was a triumph of Soviet science and engineering – an achievement for all humanity. It proved that the path beyond Earth was open – paving the way for Yuri Gagarin’s flight, the exploration of the Moon and other planets, and the construction of orbital stations.
For 6️⃣9️⃣ years, satellites have served humanity. Today, they are essential to everyday life: they provide communications and television broadcasting, help us navigate, forecast the weather and monitor climate change.
☝️ But the first was ours. Forever. #Sputnik1 | 109 |
| 16 | ⚡️ Foreign Ministry statement reiterating warnings to foreign nationals and diplomatic personnel against remaining in Kiev or near military facilities in Ukraine (October 3 , 2026)
The Russian Foreign Ministry reiterates that, in response to terrorist attacks by the Armed Forces of Ukraine against Russia’s civilian population and infrastructure, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation continue to carry out systematic and sustained strikes against military targets in Kiev and other Ukrainian cities.
The Russian side has previously called on foreign nationals and diplomatic personnel located in Kiev to leave the city and refrain from travelling to Ukraine. Russian authorities have also urged Ukrainian residents to stay away from military and administrative facilities.
These warnings were conveyed in the statement issued by the Russian Foreign Ministry on May 25, 2026, as well as through diplomatic notes addressed to foreign partners. They were also reiterated by Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin during a briefing for members of the diplomatic corps on May 27, 2026.
The authorities of a number of countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, European Union member states, Norway, and Switzerland, have repeatedly advised their citizens against travelling to Ukraine, most recently in August of this year.
We note with concern that not everyone has taken these warnings into account and that some individuals are knowingly placing themselves in mortal danger. A number of foreign embassies continue to operate in Kiev, and foreign officials continue to visit Ukraine.
The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation will continue to carry out large-scale retaliatory strikes.
❗️ The Russian Foreign Ministry once again urges foreign nationals, including personnel of diplomatic missions, to refrain from remaining in or travelling to Ukraine.
Responsibility for any possible adverse consequences lies entirely with those who choose to disregard this warning. | 123 |
| 17 | ⚡️ Foreign Intelligence Service of the Russian Federation:
Corruption in Ukraine stands in the way of negotiations
The Press Bureau of the Foreign Intelligence Service of the Russian Federation (#SVR) reports that, according to information received by the SVR, the new leadership of Ukraine’s security service (SBU) has devised yet another scheme to steal European taxpayers’ money, this time through purchases of pistols from EU countries for the agency.
The scheme involves procuring weapons through a network of intermediaries in Eastern Europe, with the price per pistol tripling along the way – from €250 to €750.
A central role is played by the Polish company Wytwornia Broni Jacek Popinski, registered in Rogow, Lodz Province. It purchases pistols, including from the Panamanian branch of Austrian firearms manufacturer Glock, and resells them to Ukraine.
☝️ For every shipment of 5,000 pistols, €625,000 is transferred to accounts held by trusted associates of the SBU leadership. The Belgian and German defence ministries foot the entire bill.
One can only imagine the scale of theft and corruption involved in Kiev’s purchases of more expensive weapons, particularly scarce ammunition for surface-to-air missile systems.
Zelensky’s remarks about the sudden emergence of an unplanned $27 billion “hole” in Ukraine’s military budget may offer 🔎 a clue. As usual, Kiev and its European sponsors will make up the shortfall with money taken from ordinary citizens across Europe.
❗️ This information explains why Ukraine’s gauleiter and his entourage so stubbornly refuse to pursue a peaceful end to the conflict.
Blinded by easy money, they simply cannot stop lining their pockets from a war that is devastating for Ukrainians. | 112 |
| 18 | 🎙 Remarks by President of Russia Vladimir Putin at the plenary session of the 23rd annual meeting of the Valdai Discussion Club (Moscow, October 1, 2026)
This year’s theme is “Responsibility for the Future: Limits of the Possible, or Limitless Possibilities?”
Key talking points:
• Responsibility for our shared future is far more than just an abstract slogan. It entails a set of practical measures aimed at preventing humanity from being pushed to the brink of survival and averting irreparable consequences.
• Humanity has not yet fully comprehended the true magnitude of the challenge it faces. We are entering a completely new and unprecedented reality. Threats and dangers are inextricably intertwined with opportunities and prospects; they cannot be separated from one another. Our entire way of living is changing.
• Whatever scenario unfolds in the world in the years ahead, the international conflicts, unfortunately, are likely to continue. This is due in part to the fact that the profound shifts now under way, and the opportunities they create, fuel and encourage ambitions and a willingness to take risks for what may appear to be a major payoff.
• In the long term, as the world moves away from Western hegemony, the international situation will gradually improve leading to a more stable, democratic, and free multipolar international order. It is equally clear, however, that on the path towards such a world order, states, communities and every individual will face various risks.
• The UN, even if it is the most representative international organisation, falls short of the collective and democratic principles in the way it is being managed compared to its original design. A narrow grouping of Western countries wields an unproportionally large influence. It constitutes a global minority by all accounts while seeking to appropriate administrative functions.
• The principle of "might makes right" sometimes seems to guide certain international players who are convinced of their own military-political, economic, and, as they believe, moral exceptionalism. We know well from history that this never leads to anything good.
• The truth is that it was not we who wanted or started the war — it was started against us. There was no need to encourage aggressive nationalism and Russophobia in Ukraine for years in order to turn it into a tool for fighting Russia.
• Russia was deliberately placed in a situation where it was simply forced — in response to this obvious aggression — to defend itself with arms in hand. We were deliberately brought to this line. And in general, there is no need to turn Russophobia, the oppression and killing of Russian people, and the destruction of Russia into a state ideology and to set the goal of Russia's strategic defeat.
• If we want to live — everyone wants to live — then, as I once said in a public speech, let us live in friendship and together seek ways to make that happen.

| 19 | 🎙Excerpts from President Putin's address at the first meeting of the ninth State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation (Moscow, September 30, 2026)
💬 Today, we are fighting together, and together we are rebuilding and reviving Donbass and Novorossiya. The entire country is working to implement the programme for their comprehensive development, with Russian regions providing patronage and support. Construction workers, utility workers, transport and railway workers, teachers, and medical professionals are working selflessly, often at the risk of their own lives.
☝️I want to emphasise this in particular: this is not a figure of speech; they are genuinely risking their lives.
[...]
🇷🇺 It is symbolic that today, on Unification Day, deputies representing our four historical regions are taking up their duties in the State Duma for the first time. They are here in this hall with us today. Let us welcome our colleagues and their constituents, who came to the polling stations, undaunted by shelling and threats, reaffirmed their historic choice and once again proved that no one can break or intimidate our people.
❗️Participants and veterans of the special military operation –those who have demonstrated their absolute devotion to the Fatherland on the battlefield – have received broad support from voters. I can see them here in this hall. I am confident that, upholding the traditions of frontline brotherhood, they will strengthen and reinforce the ranks of the legislature.

On October 1, 1946 — 8️⃣0️⃣ years ago — the International Military Tribunal (IMT) in #Nuremberg concluded its proceedings against the senior officials of the Third Reich responsible for unleashing the bloodiest and most horrific conflict in human history, committing genocide and murdering millions of innocent people.
❗️ #NurembergTrials were an unprecedented international tribunal in history, which truly became a "Trial of Nations" against absolute evil — Hitler's Nazism.
The IMT's verdict in Nuremberg made a crucial contribution to the legal consolidation of the outcome of #WW2 and declared the Nazi misanthropic ideology, principal organisational structures and practices of Nazism as a whole to be entirely criminal.
The high-ranking leaders of Hitler's regime, including Göring, Hess, Ribbentrop, Kaltenbrunner, Rosenberg, Keitel, Neurath, Jodl, Dönitz and other senior officials of the Third Reich — were placed on dock. Bormann, who had evaded prosecution, was tried in absentia.
💬 Russia's Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, in an interview for the documentary 'Nuremberg' (Moscow, 16 November 2025):
The question of ensuring that Nazi criminals would inevitably be brought to justice was first officially raised in a Soviet diplomatic note in November 1941.
The Soviet Union <...> was the principal initiator and driving force behind the establishment of the Nuremberg Tribunal.
Our proposals were heard and accepted.
Our country's key role in arranging the Nuremberg proceedings is absolutely indisputable.
The Nuremberg Trials involved an enormous amount of paper work. A total of 403 public hearings were held. 116 witnesses were examined, and more than 300'000 testimonies were considered. Approximately 3,000 documents were examined.
❗️The Trials' proceedings elucidated, for the first time, the unprecedented scale of Nazi Germany's war crimes, including the brutal treatment of POWs and the deliberate destruction of entire cities, villages and their inhabitants.
💬 Russian MFA Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova:
Although the term 'genocide' does not appear in the text of the Nuremberg Tribunal's Charter or verdict (it became established in international legal practice at a later date), the trial records unequivocally point to numerous acts aimed at the deliberate extermination of the Soviet people, including the years-long siege of Leningrad.
<...>
Unfortunately, we are compelled to acknowledge that, 80 years on, many have forgotten the lessons of the 'Trials of Nations'. This applies not only to the Kiev regime's leadership, which, since 2014, has outlawed and sought to eradicate everything Russian in Russia's historical territories, rehabilitating, glorifying and drawing inspiration from the example of Hitler's collaborators.
The same applies to those who justify, shield and support the terrorist actions of the current neo-fascist regime in Ukraine.
(From the briefing by Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, 1 October 2026)
⚖️ On 1 October 1946, a historic verdict was delivered — 19 defendants were found guilty. Göring, Ribbentrop, Keitel, Kaltenbrunner, Rosenberg, Jodl, Bormann (in absentia) and other representatives of the Nazi leadership were sentenced to death by hanging. A number of institutions of Hitler's Germany, including the SS, SD, Gestapo and the Nazi Party leadership corps, were declared criminal organisations.
✍️ From article by Valery Zorkin, Chairman of the Constitutional Court of the Russian Federation, "The Sacred Beacon of Nuremberg and the Shadow of The Hague" (October 1, 2026):
Nuremberg was an act of retribution against Evil and a defining moment in establishing the legal foundations of the post-war world.
The Tribunal became a hammer brought down upon a criminal state and its legal order.
