What About the Tonsils? They are part of your immune system and help recognize microorganisms entering through the mouth and nose, especially during childhood. When they become enlarged or repeatedly inflamed, they are often acting like an alarm. They are warning you that you are on the wrong path. + Recurrent bacterial or viral infections. + Allergies. + Chronic mouth breathing. Like in obesity or obstructive sleep apnoea. + Environmental irritants like cigarette smoke and industrial fumes. + Poor indoor air quality. Look at how most houses in Nairobi have poor ventilation, they are very cold and there is no sunlight. + A weakened or dysregulated immune response. Removing the alarm is quite insane. An alarm cannot ring without a cause. Spare those tonsils. Use that money to change your lifestyle.

" Doc, I was told I have sinuses". We all do. What you have is sinusitis. Sinusitis is the inflammation of the air-filled spaces around your nose, called the sinuses. Normally, these spaces produce mucus that drains freely into the nose. When they become inflamed, because of a gut mess, a viral infection, allergies, bacteria, nasal polyps, or other factors, the drainage pathways can become blocked. The mucus builds up, creating pressure and pain. Common symptoms include: + A blocked or runny nose. + Facial pain or pressure. + Headaches. + Thick nasal discharge. + Reduced sense of smell. + Persistent coughing. Treating sinusitis depends on the cause. Recurrent sinusitis is an indicator that your immune system is low or your gut is a mess. No procedure can fix this unfortunately.

When someone has; + Asthma, + Chronic allergies, + Recurrent sinus infections, or + Frequent chest infections, The first thing we often think about is the lungs. So we prescribe inhalers, antibiotics, antihistamines, steroids, cough syrups, bronchodilators, or nebulization. These medicines are important and, in many cases, lifesaving. They help open the airways, fight infections, reduce inflammation, and relieve symptoms. Never stop prescribed medication without consulting your healthcare provider. However, are these medication solving the cause of the problem? Your answer is as good as mine. Asthma doesn't start with tight airways, it starts with inflammation. Imagine your airways as smooth pipes carrying air to and from your lungs. In someone with asthma, the immune system becomes overly sensitive. It starts reacting to things that are harmless to most people, such as dust mites, pollen, mould, pet dander, smoke, cold air, viral infections, or even exercise. When this happens, the immune system releases inflammatory chemicals. These chemicals attract immune cells into the lining of the airways causing; + The lining of the airways to become swollen. + The muscles surrounding the airways tighten (bronchospasm). + The airways produce excess thick mucus. This is actually a protective mechanism, but it ends up in a mess. Now imagine trying to breathe through a narrow straw filled with mucus. This is why a person develops the symptoms: + Wheezing. + Chest tightness. + Persistent coughing, especially at night. + Shortness of breath. + Difficulty exercising. Most asthma medicines target different parts of this inflammatory process. Reliever inhalers quickly relax the muscles around the airways, allowing them to open so air can pass more easily. Preventer inhalers, which often contain corticosteroids, reduce the underlying inflammation. They don't just relieve symptoms, they help calm the inflamed airways and reduce the likelihood of future attacks. Looking at the above, do you see any medicine or medicine combination that deals with what caused the inflammation? Around 70% of your immune system is associated with the gut. When the gut microbiome is healthy and diverse, it helps regulate inflammation and supports a balanced immune response. When it's disrupted by a poor diet, repeated antibiotic use, chronic stress, inadequate sleep, or highly processed foods, the immune system becomes less balanced, which contributes to inflammation and affect respiratory health. It also causes an immune system to overreact as you see in autoimmune diseases where your immune system starts to attack your own body. That doesn't mean every lung disease starts in the gut. It means, the gut is the biggest influence to your immune system. + Eat whole foods instead of ultra-processed foods. + Drop sugar, wheat vegetable oils and refined carbohydrates. + Include fibre through vegetables and complex carbohydrates. They support a healthy gut microbiome. + Stay hydrated. + Sleep well every night. + Exercise regularly. + Spend time outdoors and get adequate sunlight. Vitamin D is important in respiratory conditions recovery. + Consume healthy fats. You need cholesterol. + Avoid smoking. + Only use antibiotics when prescribed and necessary. Your lungs don't function in isolation. Your gut, immune system, nutrition, sleep, movement, and environment all work together. The choice of getting better is in your hands.

Everyone wants transformation but very few want the transformation process. People admire the after picture, but they love to avoid the habits that created it. Transformation isn't built in the gym or on the weighing scale. It is built in the decisions nobody applauds. It isn't built in the kitchen. + The meal you didn't cheat on. + The morning you got up when you didn't feel like it. Don't resent me when I wake you up, the problem is you. + The walk you took instead of sitting on the couch to watch a movie. + The fast you did even when your people were around for the weekend. + The sun you enjoyed even when you've always known your skin is sensitive. + The cold shower you took even when everyone talks about how cold Nairobi is or how cold showers will cause asthma and pneumonia. + The discipline you chose when excuses were available. Your body simply reveals what your identity has already become. Change your identity first. The body always follows the mind and the mind aligns with the spirit. CPD is can only be enhanced when you overcome your thoughts. #WellnessWednesday

Discipline will create a body that motivation will never do. Most times we keep waiting to feel motivated so we can eat right, move more, fast etc. The world doesn't pause and wait for you to get the motivation. Healthy people don't wait, they wake up and do what needs to be done whether they feel like it or not. You don't become healthy by making one big decision, you become healthy by making small decisions every time. + Hydrate adequately. + Take the walk. These parks exist for you to go and walk. It's a shame that you can come from abadares and you've never done a hike there. You are near karura and you see people walking there on Facebook posts. + Skip the sugar. We cannot insist more. + Sleep on time. Tiktok lives and gossip will only keep you agitated and angry in the morning because of no sleep. REPEAT! Your body doesn't respond to your intentions, it responds to your habits. It is trainable. #WellnessWednesday.

Health is not absence of a disease. You can be obese and not sick. You can have a serious medical problem but with no symptoms like kidney disease. By the time you experience symptoms, you have less than 50% of kidney function. HEALTH is waking up with energy instead of exhaustion. It's sleeping peacefully through the night. It's climbing a flight of stairs without gasping for breath. It's having a clear mind, a strong body, emotional stability, and the freedom to enjoy life without being controlled by medication or chronic illness. The above cannot be bought in a pharmacy. Your body is the only place you have to live for the rest of your life. Treat it with the respect it deserves. Today's Wellness Challenge; + Drink at least 4 glasses of water. add a pinch of salt in every glass. + Spend at least 30 minutes moving your body. Just walk. + Eat real, whole foods. Prioritize an animal protein in that meal. Make it 70% of the plate. + Get some sunshine. Even if it's 20 minutes. You are not too busy. Either way, being busy doesn't always mean you are working. + Put your phone down/away an hour before bed. + Sleep early tonight. Latest 10 P.M.

Good morning advocates and welcome to Wellness Wednesday, a day dedicated to one simple truth; Health is not just about living longer, it's about living better. I believe wellness goes beyond treating disease. It's about creating a life where your body, mind, and daily habits work together to help you become the best version of yourself. With this, I hope the phrase,"We shall all die", evapourates. On Wednesdays, we will try to explore practical ways to improve your well-being through nutrition, fasting, movement, sleep, stress management, hydration, and the small daily habits that make your life better. Wellness is not built in a hospital. + It is built in your kitchen. + It is built in your bedroom through quality sleep. + It is built on your walking path. + It is built in the choices you make when no one is watching. This isn't about perfection, but progress. + One healthier meal. + One walk. + One extra hour of sleep. + One less sugary drink. + One better decision. + One less bottle of alcohol. + One day in a week of a cold shower. + One meal skipped. + One day of staying present. + One day of no masturbation. Those small choices, repeated consistently, will create extraordinary results. All you need is to start. So, welcome to wellness Wednesday, your weekly reminder that your greatest investment is your health.

If you are trying to lose weight, simply join our weight loss programs. These drugs people hop on will be the end of most people. They look good when marketed but they are harmful. Apart from the side effects, remember they don't change your relationship with food. Obesity is not a deficiency of Ozempic(Semaglutide). Other drugs being marketed for the same and somehow cheaper are: + Mounjaro + Zepbound + and the most recent one, Tirzepatide. Avoid shortcuts.

Good morning advocates. Every week, we share knowledge, challenge unhealthy habits, and encourage healthier living. But nothing inspires people more than hearing from someone who has actually experienced change. Today, I want to bring back, TESTIMONIAL TUESDAYS. This is your opportunity to share your journey and encourage someone who may be on the verge of giving up. Have you: + Lost weight? + Reversed high blood pressure? + Improved your blood sugar? + Reduced or stopped certain medications under your doctor's guidance? + Overcome constant fatigue? + Broken free from sugar cravings? + Started fasting consistently? + Improved your sleep? + Become more disciplined? + Changed your relationship with food? + Enrolled a gym or you started walking/ hiking? + Forgave your parents and overcame their nature? + Started staying present every day? Or perhaps your testimony isn't about the scale at all. Maybe you now have more energy to play with your children, you think more clearly at work, or you've simply regained hope after years of struggling. Your story matters. Someone reading your testimony today may find the courage to begin their own journey today. So, don't keep your victory to yourself.

Again, calling every income generating activity a business is a mistake. Some things are simply side hustles. A side hustle receives whatever time is left after your job, your social life, your television, your sleep, and everything else. It survives on leftovers. That's why it often produces leftover results. A business is different. It demands your attention, your discipline, your sacrifice, your creativity, and your commitment. It keeps you awake at night thinking about your customers, your systems, your marketing, your finances, and how to create more value than you've done already. You don't build a thriving business by visiting it occasionally. You will hear people say, "My business isn't growing." The question is, are you treating it as a business or as a side hustle? Businesses don't grow because they exist, they grow because someone is fully committed to making them grow. If you cannot give it all your attention, then employ someone who will do that. Most times, not a family member. There is nothing wrong with having a side hustle by the way. In fact, many great businesses started that way. But if you want it to become a real business, there comes a time when you must stop treating it like a side hustle.

I have seen people complaining that their friends opt to support stranger's businesses but they can't support theirs. That they don't even post on their whatsApp status and so they get angry at them. What a mess! Your friends, if at all they exist, and your family are not your marketing department. Support is a gift, not an obligation. Build a business that strangers recommend even to your family members because of the value it creates. This is why, that one client you have today is the most important one. These clients return through others in the name of referrals.

People are not walking wallets. They are human beings with problems, fears, and dreams. If you treat people well, they become ambassadors for your business. When dealing with anyone, the goal isn't to make a sale. The goal is to earn trust. Earn the next sale.

Your business reveals who you are. If you're dishonest in life, you'll eventually be dishonest in business. If you're lazy, your business will reflect it. You can't build a trustworthy business with an untrustworthy character.

BUSINESS MONDAYS. Start solving problems instead of chasing 'paper'. One of the biggest mistakes I made when I first ventured into business was starting with the wrong question. I didn't ask, "What problem can I solve?" I asked, "How can I make profit or money?" I thought business is all about making and eating profits. Years ago, I started selling clothes. Looking back, no one came to my shop naked. So which problem was I really solving? I am not saying selling clothes is a bad thing, don't get me wrong. People already had clothes. I wasn't solving an urgent problem. I was simply hoping they would choose me over someone else. When business was slow, I expected my friends to support me. When they didn't, I became frustrated. The truth was, I had built my expectations around loyalty instead of value. Later, I ventured into selling alcohol. That experience forced me to ask myself a difficult question: Was I creating value, or was I making money from something that often created more problems for families and communities? I think I was creating a problem for other people to solve. They possibly made and still make money from it yet mine was closed down. Before we founded Health and Wellness Spot (HAWS), we had tried many businesses. Looking back, the common thread was simple; We were chasing money! That was the wrong foundation. Everything changed when I started asking, "What problem can I genuinely help solve with the skills I have in the medical field?". Today, HAWS exists because millions of people are struggling with obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, chronic inflammation, poor nutrition, and lifestyle related diseases. We may not solve every health problem, but every day we have an opportunity to educate, encourage, and help people make healthier choices. That's a business worth building. Money is important. Every business needs to be profitable to survive. But profit should be the reward for creating value not the only reason you exist. Today, ask yourself: + What problem does my business solve? + Am I creating value, or am I simply chasing income? The marketplace rewards those who make other people's lives better. Atleast, money will have a reason to follow. Whether you're a doctor, a farmer,a mechanic,a tailor,a teacher, an engineer or an entrepreneur, your business should leave people better than you found them. Build a reputation before you build your bank account.

I keep insisting that your spouse, children or relatives will be your downfall but people think I am insensitive. When it comes to matters health, most people love their hell. That is why you will hear them say, 'This runs in our family'. Your relatives don't care much about you. They want you to be like them. As long as we are all here, it's ok. The moment your wings open up, whether it's healthy or wealth, they start finding means to bring you to their level. It's always competition. You must break loose from the prison and slavery disguised as "family". You are ALONE.
