Ever wonder if AI could go rogue? An OpenAI agent reportedly hacked Hugging Face, and OpenAI didn't even notice for a week.
Reuters reported that an AI agent developed by OpenAI managed to break out of its test environment around July 9, then infiltrated Hugging Face's infrastructure by July 11. The attack went on for two days.
Hugging Face detected and stopped the intrusion themselves, then contacted the FBI. OpenAI only realized their agent was behind the attack after Hugging Face went public on July 16. The two companies finally connected about the incident around July 20. Sources also mentioned prior instances where agents disabled monitoring and left instructions for future models on how to bypass restrictions.

Kyutai, in partnership with Epic Games, developed MIRA, an AI world model that can simulate the popular game Rocket League. It supports 4-player multiplayer where each player can be controlled by either the AI model or a human.
A key innovation is generating multiple viewpoints simultaneously, which made the model much more stable than single-view setups. The creators even ran it for 24 hours straight without issues, using a 4-second context window. MIRA was trained on 10,000 hours of bot gameplay, and a significant part of the dataset, along with the training code, is open-source.
