Ans: B. HIDA (Tc-99m hepatobiliary) scan
Ultrasound is the initial investigation of choice for acute cholecystitis, but HIDA (cholescintigraphy) is the most sensitive and specific test. Non-visualisation of the gallbladder at 4 hours (or 30 min after morphine) with normal visualisation of the CBD and duodenum indicates cystic duct obstruction. Only ~10–15% of gallstones are radio-opaque on plain film.

A ferromagnetic intra-ocular foreign body can move in the magnetic field and cause vitreous haemorrhage and blindness, so metal workers are screened with orbital radiographs first.
