| 4 | በሀገራችን በብዛት የሚከሰቱ አደገኛ የዶሮ በሽታዎች የትኞቹ ናቸው?
የዶሮ በሽታዎች በዶሮ እርባታ ሥራ ውስጥ በአጭር ጊዜ ውስጥ ከፍተኛ ኪሳራ ሊያመጡ የሚችሉ ዋና ዋና ፈተናዎች ናቸው።
ዶሮዎች በተለይም በቫይረስ፣ በባክቴሪያ እና በውስጥ/በውጭ ጥገኛ ተህዋስያን በሚመጡ በሽታዎች በቀላሉ ይጠቃሉ።
አብዛኞቹ የዶሮ በሽታዎች አንዴ ከተከሰቱ በኋላ ሕክምና ስለሌላቸው፣ ዋነኛው መፍትሔ ቅድመ-መከላከል (ክትባትና ንጽህና) ብቻ ነው።
በሀገራችን በብዛት የሚከሰቱ አደገኛ የዶሮ በሽታዎች፦
1. የዶሮ ቸነፈር (Newcastle Disease)
ይህ በቫይረስ አማካኝነት የሚመጣና መላውን መንጋ በጥቂት ቀናት ውስጥ እስከ 100% ሊጨርስ የሚችል እጅግ አደገኛ ተላላፊ በሽታ ነው።
ምልክቶች፦ አረንጓዴ ወይም ነጭ ተቅማጥ፣ ፈጣን የአተነፋፈስ ችግር (አፋቸውን ከፍተው መተንፈስ)፣ ከአፍና ከአፍንጫ ፈሳሽ መውረድ፣ የእንቁላል ምርት መቋረጥ እና በሽታው ሲጠናከር አንገታቸውን ማዞር ወይም ክንፋቸውን መጣል።
መከላከያ፦ በሽታው ሕክምና የለውም። ብቸኛው መፍትሔ ጫጩት በነበሩበት ወቅት (በ1ኛ፣ 3ኛ እና 7ኛ ሳምንት) እንዲሁም በየ 3-4 ወሩ መደበኛ የኒውካስል ክትባት በውሃ ወይም በአይን ጠብታ መልክ መስጠት ነው።
2. ጉምቦሮ (Gumboro / Infectious Bursal Disease)
ይህ በሽታ በአብዛኛው ከ3 እስከ 6 ሳምንታት ዕድሜ ባላቸው ዶሮዎች ላይ የሚከሰት የቫይረስ በሽታ ነው። የዶሮዎቹን በሽታ የመከላከል አቅም ሙሉ በሙሉ ያጠፋል።
ምልክቶች፦ ዶሮዎቹ ላባቸውን ጥለው በአንድ ማዕዘን መሰብሰብ፣ ነጭ ፈሳሽ ተቅማጥ፣ የፊንጢጣ አካባቢ መቆሸሽ፣ ከፍተኛ የውሃ ጥም እና የምግብ ፍላጎት ማጣት።
መከላከያ፦ ጫጩቶቹን በ2ኛ እና በ4ኛ ሳምንት ዕድሜያቸው ላይ መከተብ።
3. ኮክሲዲዮሲስ (Coccidiosis/ደም አዘል ተቅማጥ)
ይህ በፕሮቶዞአ (Protozoa) አማካኝነት የሚመጣ የውስጥ ጥገኛ ተህዋስያን በሽታ ሲሆን፤ የሚከሰተው የቤቱ ወለል ላይ የሚጎዘጎዘው ሰጋቱራ ሲርጠብ፣ በዶሮ ኩስ ሲቆሽሽ እና ዶሮዎቹ የቆሸሸ መኖና ውሃ ሲመገቡ ነው።
ምልክቶች፦ ደም የተቀላቀለበት ወይም ቡናማ ተቅማጥ፣ ዶሮዎቹ ክንፋቸውን ጥለውና ዓይናቸውን ጨፍነው ማንቀላፋት፣ መክሳት እና የክብደት መቀነስ።
መከላከያና ሕክምና፦ የቤቱ ወለል ሁልጊዜ ደረቅ መሆኑን ማረጋገጥ። በሽታው ከተከሰተ በእንስሳት ሐኪም ትዕዛዝ በውሃ የሚበጠበጡ የአምፕሮሊየም (Amprolium) ወይም የሱልፋ (Sulpha) መድኃኒቶችን በመስጠት ማከም ይቻላል።
4. የዶሮ ፈንጣጣ (Fowl Pox)
በቫይረስ የሚመጣና በዝግታ የሚሰራጭ በሽታ ሲሆን፤ በአብዛኛው በትንኞችና በውጭ ጥገኛ ነፍሳት አማካኝነት ከዱር ወፎች ወደ በረት ይተላለፋል።
ምልክቶች፦ በዶሮዎቹ ክንፎች፣ ጫማ፣ አይን አካባቢና ቆዳ ላይ ጥቁር ወይም ቡናማ የቆሰሉ እብጠቶች (ፎረፎር መሰል ቁስሎች) መታየት። በአንዳንድ ዝርያዎች ላይ በአፍና በጉሮሮ ውስጥ ነጭ ሽፋን በመፍጠር መተንፈስና መዋጥ ይከለክላቸዋል።
መከላከያ፦ ዶሮዎቹ ከ8-10 ሳምንት ዕድሜያቸው ላይ በክንፋቸው ቆዳ ስር የሚወጋውን የፈንጣጣ ክትባት መስጠት። ትንኞች እንዳይራቡ ንጽህናን መጠበቅ።
5. ታይፎይድና ሲ.አር.ዲ (Fowl Typhoid & CRD)
እነዚህ በባክቴሪያ አማካኝነት የሚመጡ የመተንፈሻ አካላትና የጨጓራ በሽታዎች ናቸው። ንጹህ አየር በሌለውና በአሞኒያ ጋዝ በታፈነ ቤት ውስጥ በቀላሉ ይስፋፋሉ።
ምልክቶች፦ ማሳል፣ ሲተነፍሱ የ"ኮር ኮር" ድምፅ ማውጣት፣ ከአፍንጫ ንፍጥ መውረድ እና ቢጫ ወይም አረንጓዴ ተቅማጥ።
መከላከያና ሕክምና፦ ቤቱ ውስጥ ሁልጊዜ ንጹህ አየር እንዲዘዋወር ማድረግ። በሽታው ሲከሰት በእንስሳት ሐኪም የሚታዘዙ እንደ ኦክሲቴትራሳይክሊን (Oxytetracycline) ያሉ የፀረ-ባክቴሪያ (Antibiotics) መድኃኒቶችን በውሃ በጥብጦ ማጠጣት። | 1 219 |

Subject: Call for summer job opportunity to assist research work under the GMH Project
Background
Hawassa University (HU) is collaborating with University of California, Davis (UC-Davis) and other partners on a project dealing with Precision Tools for Ration Optimization and Low Emission Dairy in Africa. The project aims to increase animal productivity through improved animal nutrition in order to improve food security and reduce the GHG emission costs of food production.
The project seeks to accommodate two best performing undergraduate students of the School of Animal and Range Sciences for about three months during the summer vacation. The students will assist in the implementation of the project and at the same time will gain practical hands-on experience and will be get more insights of practical knowledge and skills of livestock research and development.
General information
Required documents: Letter of motivation, academic credentials (copies of grade reports from the registrar)
Other requirements: The applicants must have completed three years of study the University in the School of Animal and Range Science and must be in good academic standing (preferably having a CGPA of 3.25 or above).
Project sites: The Dairy Farm of the Hawassa University’s Enterprise, Hawassa University Main Campus
Benefits: The project will pay each student a modest pocket money during the period of their engagement.
Responsibilities of the students to be selected
The students will assist in the implementation of the project. These include:
Preparation, weighing and feeding of roughage feeds
Prepare and weigh feed ingredients and ensure that the ingredients are mixed in the right proportion
Feeding and management of experimental animals
Collection and preparation samples of feed offered, refused, faeces, urine and rumen fluid
Assist in recording all the data to be collected during the experiment
