The first rule of scam coins is that *anything* can happen
Their return distributions have MUCH fatter tails than those of organic coins
This matters because an unlevered spot long can 'only' lose 100%, while the upside has no hard ceiling
With similarly higher odds of extreme moves in either direction, the upside outcomes can add far more to expected returns than the downside outcomes subtract
It sounds silly but I believe that's what makes the EV positive and why you should be skewed long on scam coins (we have a history of enough upside silliness to justify being exposed)

Some coins are perma-shorts

Whenever they get a meaningful squeeze, you can bonk them
The dino coins had an insane run in late 2024, and then pumped strongly again during the next risk-on season in mid 2025, which is quite rare, and implies that the digestion/under-performance phase will be very long. There's no reason for XRP to trade above $1, and time will correct this exuberance.
SUI also reached an unbelievably high FDV in 2025 ($56bn!), but everyone knows it's not the future of France and it's just the shiny alt L1 from the last cycle, which still trades at a very large valuation. There's too much muscle memory in the market so SUI can easily get squeezed once the altcoins are pumping, but any of these moves is a good opportunity to get short on it.
TRUMP is now a worthless memecoin that is programmed to fade into irrelevance. Here, the only thing that matters is to avoid being a victim of the short squeezes such as the one we had in August (impressive +160% pump). But TRUMP will trade below $1 at some point, and once again, shorting the squeezes is a gift.

One of the setups I like with scam coins is to get into a position after a coin crashed hard but its price action has been stabilizing
You get an excellent r/r with this setup because your downside is very small and the coin can easily pull a 3x or more

BTC refuses to go below $80k, which makes me moderately bullish, at least for a short-term bounce
It might be time for stocks to have a rebound too
Overall we're still just in chop territory where I don't want to take large directional bets

Usually when $HYPE looks like that, there's suddenly a super bullish narrative/news that comes out to pump it
Obviously, $HYPE is now 4x larger than on its January bottom, so it gets increasingly harder to push it higher after bullish news
(My bias would be for more pain in the short-term but as you can see on the chart, in 2026 it's been more interesting to look for longs after a -20% drawdown)

Holding a basket of 50 small scam coin positions and waiting for them to do their thing is very EV+
$IRYS basically went up 40x in 3 days
Having tagged IRYS as a scam coin was not complicated at all, the hard part is that you have to wait during 6 months in dead charts before a sudden burst happens
I'll share a list of all the scam coins in a few days.
Most of them won't pump, but the few that do will drive the returns for the whole basket

To get a sense of how extreme (and especially relentless) this AI-stock sell-off has been, we can look at how deep the local drawdowns are before a +20% bounce happens on $SOXL
Conclusion: it is indeed pretty relentless.

I don't know what sorcery has been maintaining $NEAR strongly at its highs, but with these two LTF lower highs, I do now see a rounded distribution pattern
It spent almost a month at $800M daily volume on Binance Futures, so a ton of people are now having a $5 cost basis

Altcoins are still locally in cool-off state since the late September top, but it's now the 4th time we have a decent reaction off a local bottom that prevents a significant liquidation driven dump from happening
BTC is offering a much better picture overall as it's flat instead of printing lower lows
It's not the time to take large directional risk for me, but I don't want to be panicking while BTC simply isn't weak. An altcoin like DOGE has retraced 2/3 of its pump since August, so a decent chunk of washout (after several weeks of altcoin pump) has happened already.

We're getting rid of this overhang and BTC is up lol
The MSTR/IBIT ratio is barely down, it's probably safe to short it but the upside of the trade isn't that large either

As for crypto, very nice reaction off the local bottom yesterday, we're showing relative strength against AI stocks, pretty cool

I've no idea how true the VARA rumors are, but after yesterday's NYO I really had a similar feeling as during Leopold's liquidation, the flows were odd and looking like someone was definitely forced to sell in a capitulation move.
It felt a bit inorganic by the stock market standards, which was a good signal to get long (or martingale and add to longs in the red...) after the first 20 minutes crash that marked the local bottom.
Hard to say how long this bottom will hold though, gun to my head I think we push higher, but if you were martingaling, reducing some exposure after this first bounce is recommended
