Snapchat Unveils $2,200 AR Smart Glasses Snap, the company that owns the social media app Snapchat, has unveiled new smart glasses. The augmented reality (AR) glasses, called Specs, will be released later in 2026 at a price of just under $2,200. AR lets users see digital information and graphics overlaid on the view in front of them. Users of Snap's Specs can then use their fingers to reach out and interact with the graphics. Snap's Specs can also listen to questions and display things like directions to a place you want to visit, or even show you how to do something you don't know how to do — like how to change the oil in a car you're looking at. Or, you can just use them to watch a movie! Snap said the glasses will help people work, create and have fun. It added that any place can become a workspace because you always have a computer in front of your eyes. However, the company said it hopes the glasses will help users get information while still being able to engage with the people and places around them. "Too often, we find ourselves looking down at a screen instead of looking at the people we're with," it said. The glasses have a four-hour battery, and they don't need to be connected to a phone or a computer to work. They can transition from clear lenses to sunglasses in 10 seconds, the company said. These aren't Snap's first smart glasses, though — the company released its Spectacles in 2016, at a price of $129. But those underperformed, with unsold Spectacles costing the company $40 million, the BBC reported in 2017. Snap's Specs aren't the only smart glasses on the market. The cheapest Meta smart glasses are $299, although they don't have AR. Meanwhile, the much larger Apple Vision Pro sells for $3,499. #reading_for_today

The Most Expensive Cities in Europe to Buy Property Euronews has made a list of the top 10 most expensive places to buy property in Europe, based on data from the Global Property Guide website. The city at the top of the list is Zurich, Switzerland. There, the average price of a property is more than $21,000 per square meter. You don't need to be an expert at math to work out that even a small apartment would be very expensive! Four of Europe's most expensive cities are in Switzerland. Geneva is second on the list, while Luzern is third and Bern is fifth. One reason property is so expensive in Switzerland is that many people want to live there, but there is limited space for new housing. Salaries in Switzerland are also among the highest in the world, so people can afford to pay more for property. Luxembourg City is also in the top five, which might not be a surprise since Luxembourg is Europe's richest country by GDP per capita. There, property costs about $12,600 per square meter. The other cities in the top 10 are all in the north of Europe, with the least expensive being the Swedish capital of Stockholm. The average property price there is just under $10,000 per square meter. But while all of the cities in the top 10 are expensive places to live, they also offer a very high quality of life. #reading_for_today
